(Original Air Date: 04/21/06) Being a parent is hard enough, but what happens when Mom and Dad can't agree on how many kids to have, how to raise 'em and how to get ‘em to sleep?  Sometimes, it can lead to an all-out baby war! Matt's baby battle ended up in front of a judge and made headlines. He was ordered to pay child support for the baby he had with his ex-girlfriend, but he says he shouldn't have to cough up the money because she told him she wasn't able to get pregnant, and he told her he didn't want to be a father. He, his attorney, and the director of the National Center for Men discuss the lawsuit they filed, known as “Roe v. Wade for Men,” arguing that men should have a constitutional right to avoid fatherhood. Next, Dan says even though he and his wife, Lisa, already have four children, he wants just one more. Lisa has been pregnant on and off for 11 years and says she's closed for baby business. Will Dr. Phil help Dan see Lisa's point that four is enough? Then, a frustrated husband is camping out on the roof of his house and living in a tent. He refuses to go back to his bedroom until his wife moves their kids out of their bed and starts paying more attention to him. Can Dr. Phil get him to come down the ladder? Plus, a sleep expert has a simple method for getting your child to sleep through the night. See the plan in action! Share advice and talk about the show here.

I do think men should have the same rights as women.  Although it is very unfortunate when the father does not want the child.  In that case he should be legally able to sign over all rights to the child.
if he had worn a condom i would have more sympathy. he chose the action he chose the consequence

What a crock !! He wants to have his fun without a condom and then have say so when there is a pregnancy.  I might understand if he was fighting for parental rights to his child, but if he didn't want to have a baby he should have prevented it in the first place.  Shame, Shame on him.  Any man with that kind of attitude about his own flesh and blood,  I wouldn't want anything to do with in the first place.

Selfish

All I can comment about is how selfish that man is.  So she got pregnant.  GROW UP.  If he wanted to be sure not to be a father, then he never should have had sex.  PERIOD!  Or he should get a vasectomy and do all women a favor.

A Woman on the Man's Side 100%, Part 2

And, by the way...  If woman knew that men could have "an abortion" or sign over the rights BEFORE the baby is born, I also believe that he should NOT have to pay child support.  Not ONE PENNY.  If this was the law, there would be a lot less woman running around having babies they can't afford because they are resting on the state to give them money.  I wish I knew how to be a men's rights activist.  I love being a mom and my child is healthy and happy.  But, even men trying to do the right thing are getting rooked left and right.  It's time to balance the scales...

Matt's Child

You know, I can't believe what I heard on the show.  The bottom line is that it takes two.  Whether he wanted to be a father or not, when a woman is on the pill, it is explained that there is a chance that you can still get pregnant, although slim, it can happen.  As far as her saying that she could not conceive, perhaps this is what her doctor thought, however, unless you think the doctor is "God", only "God" knows what will happen and steps need to be taken.  As Dr. Phil said, he has known  people who could not conceive, adopted and became pregnant soon after the adoption.  I think he should think with is brain and not his crotch, be realistic and learn the facts of life.

Baby Wars 4/21

I agree that the father should have the same rights as the mother. If the father dont want to be a father then he should be able to sign off all rights and not have to pay support. It is the mothers choice wether to keep a baby or give it up. If she choses to keep the baby and the father dont want it then the mother should have to fully support the baby. Leave the man alone and let him have his own life. If he dont want a baby then so be it.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

IF YOU ARE OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE SEX, YOU ARE OLD ENOUGH TO BE A FATHER.... STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND BE A FATHER... PUT YOURSELF IN THE SHOES OF THE CHILD WHEN SHE GETS OLDER... HOW SHE IS GOING TO FEEL WHEN SHE FINDS OUT THAT HER FATHER DIDNT WANT HER. GET REAL!

The Kid Needs to Grow up, not be in court!

That is a beautiful baby!  You had sex, she got pregnant, you need to embrace this baby as a gift from the lord!  First of all, you shouldn't have sex if you aren't ready for all the possibilities to happen with what comes with that.  How do you think people contract AIDS?? You think they want that to happen, where's their lawyers?  Things happen, now take care of that baby!

04/21 Baby Wars

i think that this case is absolutely ridiculous. i mean why would you believe something like that from someone you were just dating anyway common sense should prevail, and protection measures should be used you never can be 100 % sure about things like that.
