The purpose of this board is to debate your views about a particular religion or belief. I understand Religion is a touchy subject, but this board is designed for you to ask questions as well as present arguments for your particular Religion or belief.

You can definitely challenge others, but no calling others names. Feel free to debate away.

WHY does what you believe determine who you are?

As many have read my posts on the non removal of the word god in society.  I truly believe that people are so ademently opposed to other religions its outrageous. People are always so quick to judge others for what they believe...when in fact they should be judged by how they live.  Why is it that so many people who do not necessarily believe in god or his teachings are so quick to say something hateful to christians?  People may be bad no matter their religion, they may be horrible people they may be poor me people, but there are so many that are just human and have problems in their lives that they talk about.  WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT?  I got news for a lot of you it is not just CHRISTIANS?  We are not complainers by origin or nor do we put down other religions or beliefs...to me if you want to post about christians being hateful to other religions or putting other religions to the ground  talk about a person directly....what about all the people in these rooms that sit and say bad things about christians?  That to me sounds like a complainer or someone who puts others into the ground due to what they believe......To me if you want to judge someone judge them by how they live their lives, love their families, treat others, and what they do for the society in general.....do not judge people due to their religions or what they believe!!!!  If so you are no better than the ones with whom most of you speak of as being complainers, people who put down other religions, and all together poor me people!!!  There are so many people who claim to be a certain religion and do some pretty aweful thing despite what they are supposed to believe  so blame the person not the religion!!!!!        ABURKES

Victims

Quote From: aburkes22

Then maybe they truly are not complaning.....face it life sucks for a lot of people, and many bear a hard burdon.  I dont think its right to say christians complain because they are christian just say some people complain more than others....i know many faiths that complain ALL THE SAME.....Just because you are christian does not mean we expect people to pity us that is so not the way it is  I for one do not at all see my self as a victim do to my faith.....I SURELY SEE JESUS AS ONE... for obvious reasons  but i just think that we as humans complain its in our blood our nature and just apart of life    sometimes it just sucks!!!!!!!!!!!          ABURKES

Well I surely do know all people complain.  That is not what I was overly refering to... there are complaining that life is harsh, thier children ingore them, they have a bad life.  And then there are those who complain that about how thier religion is treated, how bad it is that certain aspect of thier religion is not allowed in Government or schools.  "We are looked down upon because..... "  I have heard much more from fellow Christians.  I even had one or two who dare compaired themselves and thier believe to the Jews and all that they went through.

In every religion of the world there are good and bad eggs.  Religon was not made for the saintly to follow but for the sinners.  I was just pointing  out that one can not blanket coat an entire religous sect as one thing.  We are different and no one knows what someone else does outside the church walls until you become an observer.  Fun thing is my job has nothing to do with religion but because it is phone work people will tell you thier personal life story over the phone including information better left unsaid.

As for Jesus in my knowledge he is not a victim not even in his own mind.  He lived the life he was meant to live and he saw it through to the righful end.  He knew all the time what he was meant to do and be.  Jesus was one who had the enlightenment that God allowed him as to his life path.  He knew direct consult with God and all the others back home (BTW note... life is gaining knowledge & what most people see as heaven I call home for it is where we came from and shall return to) as to his paths.  Certain events were laid out before his birth into this life and he lived each event as planned.  I do not and will not see him as a victim.

I don't believe anyone here is 'judging" someone or labeling overtly.  It can sound like judgement and might boarder on that side.  Personally I thought we were just chatting about and sharing our views on the various subjects of faith.

It is very true that horrible people come from all walks of many faiths.

I think I brought up the "poor pity me" syndrome and attached it to the Christians and if that upset you I am sorry and apologize.  My piont was not to condemn all but just point out that there are Christians who see their faith as being worthy of pity for what ever reason.  If I gave the impression that all Christians feel that way I am sorry yet again. It was not my intent.

man vs woman

Quote From: elffie

Why is it that the woman are always being checked for something?

How degrading.

age old debate there.  Some of which is changing unfortunately to the error of women yet again.  We can't seem to win for losing.

I think it all stems from when the man had total power and dominence over women.  We were as chatel and they the Master of the domain and beyond.  :)

Also goes back to that virgin thing as I see it.  to ensure that they woman you are to marry does not carry someone else child one must be a virgin upon birth.  For to marry and carry someone elses child and pass that child off as the husbands... horror.   Since they didn't have a true ablity as we do now to know child birth if you had lost what is now you virginal state you were not worthy of marriage.  Hence the begining of the "she must not be tainted".  Eras of our lives.  It has lived to this day.

One other point it is also a power control issue... to own something someone else has never had.  Odd but simple.

I know there is lots more this issue from all sides but this is one look in a nutshell.

Yes, it is the person who is responsible for their actions.  I don't put down other religions, because I know how it is to be judged.  Beleive me I encounter it almost every day.  I don't know if the people who are being like that to me are Christians or not, but that does not entitle someone to act so intolerant against another.

Actually, I do know.  The area we live now is full of Christians.  Many have said things to my husband about his pentacle necklace.  They even said he should remove it, because people might think he's Jewish and that's not a good thing around here.  Can you beleiv it?  What if we were Jewish?  Instead my husband told them he was Pagan and was not going to remove the necklace.  Keep in mind this is at a workplace.  When we wear our pentacles people stare like they think we're satan worshippers.  But the thing is, we're not.  We don't even beleive in the devil.  I think the devil is something the church made up to use as a scare tactic for people to join their church.  "Join us or burn in hell".  Yes, I've actually seen posters like this.

The thing is, people act a certain way, because they think they are supposed to act that way.  Some Christians are very tolerant and treat people with respect and then there are others who treat people not too well because they are non-beleivers and are doing wrong.  Don't get me wrong, there are Pagans who are not nice either, it comes with EVERY religion.

I myself like to treat people with respect.  I like to talk with people.  Religion is a touchy subject, but I still like to talk about it.

WOW!!  We agree on one thing.  Jesus was not a victim.  He knew what his assignment on Earth was and he completed it.

Nice tapdance.  You "attach the poor pity me syndrome to Christians", but that's not judging or labeling???

Thank you for the apology to whoever it was for, but to "point out" or "single out" Christians is unfair.  (Watch the news), There are many Muslims who are really feeling pity right now, many Earth worshippers who are feeling pity right now, and a whole bunch of athiests who boo hoo every day because we have a Christian president and everything with the word God or Jesus hasn't been removed fast enough from every visible place, etcetera.

Perhaps you hear alot more from Christians because you work with more Christians than any other religious denomination.  Perhaps you work with Christians who are not exercising their faith in the scriptures (ie: weak Christians).  Maybe they're just exercising their right to protest the treatment that exists (removing the ten commandments from public places where they've been for years, taking the word God out of songs where it's been for years, threatening to remove God from our money where it's been for years, no bible study on break or lunch at work places or schools, no nativity scenes, or maybe they're just human and are going through a rough time with their families, children and work like the rest of the human population.

Where do you stand?  What is your faith, belief, or denomination at this moment?  You seem to know about the life of Christ.  Are you a former Christian who feels that God let them down?  Or like I saw on another board a current Christian who uses hyperbole's (degrading language) to describe their own belief system, or like so many others on these boards, have you read multiple books on theories, thrillers, and fictional but facinating reading?

Just curious.  Please don't take offense.

Debating Among Different Religious Beliefs

Quote From: kerowyn

Christians as individuals do indeed see themselves as victims all the time.  I see it constantly in my job.  I hear it almost constantly how sad thier lives are and how mistreated they are if not as a group then as an indivivual.  Not just on one topic of faith or religion but in all ways and walks of life for as many of reasons as there are people in your life daily.  To say that Christians do not pity themselves or play victim is a blindness on your behalf.  Christians are not suppose to feel these feelings for the sake of thier belief yet as the simple fact remains we are all human and face human evils daily one of which is the new trend of being victimised for the rest of the word to pity.

Don't take offense in anyway to what I said just understand that there are many many levels for ANYone to play victim 'poor pity me" card.  I have heard many such complaints and pitiful stories from many a Christian who then later concludes with a "but I am not complaining" comment.

To single out Christians who pity themselves or play victim is judgemental on your part.  The same complaints and feeling of constant mistreatment can be said of these organizations and groups:

Women

Native Indians

African Americans

Jews

Latinos

           and so on

Muslims

Atheists

Earth Worshippers

Cults

           and so on

Their complaints are no more valid or more significant than a Christian's.  Each has a right to protest the treatment they believe to be unjust.  Each may have a valid reason for protesting, whinning or feeling mistreated.

There are many unstable individuals practicing religion these days.  Sounds like you're surrounded by a town of them.
