The purpose of this board is to debate your views about a particular religion or belief. I understand Religion is a touchy subject, but this board is designed for you to ask questions as well as present arguments for your particular Religion or belief.

You can definitely challenge others, but no calling others names. Feel free to debate away.

Debating Among Different Religious Beliefs

Quote From: leah1991

John 13:34-35 (New International Version)

34"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

You're contempt for fellow Christians makes it hard to believe that you are one.

How can you show so much animosity towards someone for whom Christ died, even if they blow it from time to time? You should be praying for them and admonishing them in love. You don't act like I a Christain or talk like  a Christian. You have no desire to fellowship with other Christians. You apparently think you, yourself have some sort of hedge on the truth apparently by divine revelation apart from the Bible.

I have never once seen you make a statement of allegiance to the Lord Jesus Christ on this board.

How then is it that you have defined yourself as a Christian? The term Christian was coined by the Greeks. It means little Christs. It meant these people worshipped Christ as Lord.

So are you really a Christian or are you someone who just thinks they are a pretty good person and likes basic Christian morality. Because the basic morality of almost all religions is pretty much the same.

If you are not willing to accept Christ as Lord then please call yourself something else. You are not a Christian because that is what a Christian is.

actually the term little christ meant that they tried to live as christ did.  They followed his teachings, and sorry but few christians these days fit that bill.  How do you know what a christian always was, how do you know what christ would consider a christian, YOU DON"T.  If someone followed chrisits teachings but didn't believe he was the lord all might, christ might think them more a christian than most who claim him as lord and savior.

Debating Among Different Religious Beliefs

Quote From: momisme2

I practice it by always trying to remember we are all connected.  Trying to live my life without hurting others.  Trying to be generous with others, considerate of others, paitient with others, forgiving with others.  Standing up for others when I feel they have been harmed.  Basically trying to live a life of love towards others.  And yes, I make TONS of mistakes.

There are no ways I "should" live as expected by God.  My life choices are my own.
ya know, I get ya.  just wanted to know, I do understand how your belief system works, and also how it is hard to express how it works to someone who just doesn't get it.

Debating Among Different Religious Beliefs

Quote From: leah1991

I knew a guy who was bisexual and lived with a woman who was also bisexual they both had same sex partners besides each other. This guy also had other excapades on the side of which he loved to share his exploits with all of us.

Just for the record I was always nice to this man. He knew my views on all forms of sexual immorality but for the most part we were frinds and he never indicated to me that I made him feel judged in any way. As I have said in the past. Under the Law of the Old Testament I am guilty of adultery which carried the same sentence as homosexuality. So though I agree with what the Bible teaches on sexual immorality as a Christian I don't feel it is my place to hand out the punishments since I would condemn myself in the process.

But my real question is this. This man decided he wanted to have a baby. His bisexual female partner did not want to have a baby. So he decided to start looking for a willing female to help him out here. I know he was talking seriously with one woman about this and I even met her. This was years back and I chnaged jobs shortly after this so I don't know how it all ended up.

So do you think this is a good thing to bring a child into such a situation? Mind you this child from the beginning has no hope of ever living in a normal family unit with his/her own mother and father. Also their will be so many parental type figures in this childs life that it could be more than a little confusing.

I need to run.

I think that baby will have a good chance at a good life where he is loved.  Very few children are raised by a so called normal family.  So what, I hate when people think a child is better off not being born at all.

I dont see any flaws in this existence either.  I too think its perfect.  :)

Im speaking more about the human condition.  The progression/evolving of humanity.

I think perfection is one of those things like division.  You can keep divinding forever, the more you divide, the closer you get to zero, but you can never quite reach it.

I am curious as to whether your mother and father are still together or if you grew up in a broken home.
and what does that have to do with anything?

How about natural then? Is that a better word.

Regardless of what one believes about God, nature itself has dictated a certain way to do things.

It takes a man and a woman to produce a child. There ain't no getting around that.

you are correct, however, it does not take a man and a woman to raise a child.  Nature also has situations in which only one parent cares for offspring.  Nature has situations where a female will transform into a male within a matter of days.  NAture has situations of homosexuality as well.

Religion as the Scapegoat?

I think that perhaps some people like to blame social injustices on religion because  there are no other "socially acceptable" groups to pin it on. You can't blame it on any other group, because that would be socially taboo. Religious groups are different. It is socially acceptable to attack and blame them for everything from politics to personal choice. I wonder who or what we will blame everything on when it becomes taboo to attack religion? I doubt it will be ourselves, as people always seem to need some kind of scapegoat.
