Getting Pregnant

My husband and I have been trying since April with no luck.  I have read numerous books, discussions, and websites.   It sounds like to me that you are not ovulating.  Have you already told your doctor how long you have been trying?  If you have not, I would call the doctor and tell him you have been trying for a year already.  I think you have a easily fixable issue, but that long of a cycle is not normal.  I wish you all the best of luck.  It is so frustrating waitng for that positive test.  Don't stop fighting for your chance to become a mommy.

I think that you will be ok to handle this! My sister got pregnant at 17 and she is doing fine now! She thought the same thing. And you will be ready for this baby because between now and then your motherly instincts will kick in! I hope you the best!! Believe me things could be worse! I am 22 years old and can't get pregnant!!!

conceiving after the depo provera shot

I am 21 years old and just celebrated my 3rd year with my husband. For the past year and a half we have been trying to conceive our first baby. I was on the depo shot for 4 years prior to this I have no idea what is wrong with me or what to do about it i ask my dr. and she doesn't know what to do either ! I have run into a brick wall! Anybody have any suggestions?

i hate to disappoint you, but do you really think you are ready to support a kid? i know you are not saying you are going to go out and get pregnent now, but just think about this.  

  

i am sure that you will love and support it emotionally and mentally, but can you support it financially. just remember that if you really love this kid that is unborn and unconceived that you will wait until you can afford a kid.  

  

i am in a similar situation as you. it takes ever bone in my body for me to continue the pill so my fiance and i will not have a child yet. even though we both REALLY want one now i am only 21 and have yet to finish college. 

  

i know it is important (at least for me) to be young enough to still be able to relate to your child when it is in it's teens, but waiting five more years to better establish yourself in the world will not hurt.

trying to concieve

I and my wife is being trying to have a baby since we been married we got married in 96 and still had no luck we tried fertility drugs and it didnt help either please help us on getting pergrant please thank you banditnm

Trying!

My periods have never been regular unless I have been on birthcontrol.  My Dr. gave me the pill to start my period and that worked now we are just praying that I stay regular, if not we are going to start testing to try to find out the problem.  We want to get pregnant soon.  My husband is in the Navy, and we are at our shore duty and only have another year left here and then we go to our sea duty.  We would love to get pregnant before we move again so that we can be sure he will be here for the pregnancy and the birth but dont know if it is going to happen.  It is hard, but we have faith in God and enjoy trying!  But my husband is not taking it very good.  He wants a baby so bad, it is hard, because I feel like it is my fault and I feel bad for not being able to provide that for him.  We go through points where he is just really distant and doesnt show me much love and that hurts so bad.  I would love a baby now, I am excited to have a baby soon, but I am not as excited as him, and it hurts sometimes.  Any advice?  Thanks.

Hello there, 

  

Have never been on Depo Provera myself so I cannot offer you any assistance in that regard.  Forgive me if I am stating the obvious, but the most important thing with trying to conceive is ensuring that you have regular menstrual cycles, are ovulating and having sex at the right times.  If your doctor doesn't know how to help with this, perhaps she can refer you to a gynaecologist.  Once you have established that you have regular cycles and are ovulating (blood tests can do this), you can start trying to conceive.  Do you know about the Billings Method which instructs women on how to note the changes to their cervical mucus in order to identify the most fertile time?  Sometimes this is all some people need and I hope you're one of those people!  If after 12 months of the above you have still not conceived then it might be time to see a doctor specialising in fertility issues.  Good luck with everything.

I get really surprised when women tell me that their doctors won't do any tests until they've been trying a year.  My husband and I started trying in April.  I think it took 40+ days for my first cycle after I got off the pill (and I had to take Provera to even start).  I called my dr. to let them know that I wasn't starting and they did a blood test right away.  He said that anything over 36 days is abnormal.  They fould out that I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which means I don't ovulate.  They started me on Clomid right away.  I'm not pregnant yet, but still hoping.  They are starting me on a new drug this cycle!  I hate to "self-diagnose" but maybe you need a second opinion.  I think that some doctors forget that it's your life and it's important to you.  Also, I'm surprised they weren't more agressive since you are in your 30s (not that it's old by any means!!!), but my doctor has really stressed that the younger the better.  I hope this helps.

I know exactly how you feel.  I got pregnant with my first child while I was on the pill and before we were ready.  Once we got married we simply assumed that we would get pregnant again no problem.  We've been trying for 18 months with no luck.  I cry every time I take a pregnancy test and it comes back negative.  I can't help thinking that I'm not getting pregnant because God doesn't think that I deserve another child.  It's very upsetting to me because I want another child so much.

hi there! 

 i was also diagnose with PCOS i was put on metformin which is a very common drug mostly used with people with diabetes, but it is suppose to help with getting regular periods i have been on this for 5 months and still not working well. i have been trying to concieve for about 3 years. trying to lose weight,and be more healthy hoping that will make a difference, but my specialist is really goood! i am so frustrated!
