If there are any other people in this world sick and tired of gas prices ....finally have the chance for you yourself to do something about it....as many of you know the head of gas in this economy is of course exon and mobile...... what if these two organizations didnt have the ability to sell gas such as people just not buying it.... What would happen?    As you have seen in the past if a company can not sell the high priced gas that it has already purchased then they must lower their prices to get rid of it or lose hundreds of thousands of dollars.....So what do you think would happen if people just stop buying gas from these stations for a while?     They will eventually have to lower their prices!!!!!   and once they do everyone else will have to because they cant sell theirs due to exons and mobiles being so cheap!   So STAND UP AND FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR YOURSELVES   stop for a while buying gas from these big wig companies and lets see how long their gas prices can stay at 3.00 dollars a gallon here in the US.    All it will take is just driving across the street to get gas or driving a little farther to fill up for a while ..... We all will be able to reap its rewards once you do and for many that means quiting that third job they had to have just buy gas for the week........WE CAN DO THIS.....ESPECIALLY SINCE THE MONEY MAKING GOVERNMENT CANT SEEM TO GET A HOLD ON IT.  Have any questions or replys please quote back.....                  ABURKES

Gas Tax....

Oh the days when the average price for a gallon of gas was $2.50 a gallon. A decade ago, this would have been outrageous.  As much as I can't stand Billary, I think she has a good plan as far as making the oil companies pay the gas tax- we all know they make an obscene amount of money, the tax would be chump change.

Then again Hillary isn't above lying so it's hard to know if her plan is legit or pillow talk to seduce more votes.  Mc Cain at least has a similar plan, but it's not detailed enough and BO has no plan to change anything (ironically from America's next change-bringer).  Maybe I just trust McCain (the lesser of 3 evils) more in that he hasn't fleshed out a plan to sway the popular opinion of voters- we've been burned by the "sniper attacked" Clinton before.

Then again, if McCain can capture bin Laden (and make him stand trial as Sadam), get the job done and at least our money's worth for 5 yrs of war, then withdraw troops, we may see our gas prices go back down.  IDK, but nothing the American people can do- even riding the bus, which needs gas-is going to put the oil companies at our mercy.

What the *#!& iS WRONG WITH THESE PRICES?

i KNOW ITS NOT JUST ME FRUSTRATED WITH THE OIL PRICES. i HAVE SEEN THE NUMBER OF BARRELS PRODUCED DAILY IN THE OILFIELD AND THEY ARE PHENOMINAL. I DO  WELL WORKING IN THE OILFIELD AND I STILL CANT AFFORD TO DRIVE MY MIDSIZE VEHICLE. SOMETHINGS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE. WITH THESE HIGH PRICES AMERICA ISNT AMERICA  ANYMORE. PEOPLE CANNOT EVEN AFFORD TO DRIVE WHAT THEY WANT AND ITS HURTING THE AMERICAN ECONOMY IN OTHER WAYS THAN JUST OIL PRICES SUCH AS THE PURCHASE OF FOREIGN VEHICLES. ITS TIME TO TAKE A STAND TOGETHER AND GET THESE PRICES DOWN

Drilling in ANWR

President Bush tried to get Congress to approve bills to 1) Drill in ANWR, 2) Produce Ethanol like Brazil uses in their flex cars, 3)Build more refineries.   The Dems refused these alternative means to drill and alternate petroleum production.  Which tells me the oil companies and their lobbyists have bought our politicians.  If you can't beat 'em, buy their stock.

Gas prices

Quote From: willow3

We may have the cheapest gas prices compared to other places, but it is still too high for gas. You can wait with excitement for the gas prices to rise, that's your prerogative. I don't know if you live in the US or not because your profile conflicts with your statement here. Your profile says you live in Uganda while here it says "I'm waiting until we finally catch up with the rest of the world......etc". I don't know if that means that you live in the US, but are visiting Uganda or what. People have every right to feel outraged by the gas prices and to just sit back and not voice opinions is very naive.

I just wanted to tell my opinion to someone. I know everyone is feeling the gas prices and there is not allot anyone can do about it, However if they keep rising it is going to force people to quite their jobs and live on state assistance just to get by and now I here it is going to get up to $5.00 a gal soon and with no increase in wages we will not afford to go to work. There has got to be something we can do. We are forced to buy gas and we don't have a say in how much of our money we spend .There has been allot of option for people to carpool or even take the bus but what about those who live in the county and don't have the option to do either. We are supposed to be a free country but our hands are tied  in this matter and we have no say.

ANYONE ELSE SICK OF GAS PRICES? DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!

Quote From: moodymitzy

What are we suppose to do?

The oil companies have all the power.

I agree with you. there is nothing we can do.we have to buy gas to support our families.what would happen if we all decided to quite our jobs and live off the state. We can't even get our wages raised to pay for the gas we have to spend to get to work.We are at their mercy.

I actually am happy gas prices are so high...I wish they would go higher. I also wish that gas would be taxed a hell of a lot more too.

We need to get off the stuff IMMEDIATELY and the only incentive Americans understand are the ones that effect their wallets.

We aren't forced to buy gas. We are just too lazy and unimaginative to find alternatives. You really think that because of gas prices people will quit their jobs and get welfare? I think that that is really unlikely...anyone who would do that has bigger problems than gas prices!

Ethanol....

Brazil has adopted a 20% Ethanol additive (pure or blended) to their gas for thirty years.  They use flex cars (cars that can use both petroleum and the ethanol mix.  Changes in the flex cars as opposed to the usual variety are compression ratio, amount of fuel injected, replacement of materials that ethanol corrodes (muffler), colder spark plugs,  a cold start system, and an ethanol ready engine.  You can also have bi-fueled cars that switched between gasoline and natural gas or tri-fueled that switch among gas, ethanol, and natural gas.  In the US, our E85 compatible cars are from Ford, Jeep, and Chrysler.

ANWR

Quote From: gwarrior6

"Let's check out exactly what ANWR is. The entire range is 19.6 million acres of protected land in the northern half of Alaska, in a very remote area. The area ALREADY APPROVED for drilling is located in the Coastal plain, which is about 1.5 million acres in size. Using simple math, we find that it is only EIGHT PERCENT of the total area of the range. Furthermore, the oil industry states that they only need to drill on 2000 acres! A mere .11% of the total area!

the Republican led House voted, on 1 Aug 2001, to ALLOW drilling for oil and natural gas in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska. WHY did this vote come up? Because a liberal  by the name of Congcritter Edward Markey (D.-Mass.) tried to get an amendment passed that would have BANNED ANY DRILLING in ANY part of ANWR. Oil production from ANWR was an integral

Alaskan Congressman Don Young (R.) hit the nail on the head when he stated that ANWR was set aside for oil exploration to begin with! Young also reasoned, correctly, that sending our money to the Middle East (where they hate us by the way) is WRONG when we can develop our own energy here.

1. Expand our supply. DRILL where the oil is. If a company spills, THEY PAY for the cleanup, it's that simple.
2. Permit oil exploration in ANWR, the Outer Continental Shelf, Utah, and North Dakota.
3. Expand our refinery capacity to process more crude oil using NEW technology.
4. Let the FREE MARKET work to determine the price that WE pay for gasoline.
5. STOP CONGRESS FROM USING LEASED CARS that WE PAY FOR!
6. GET the H*LL out of the way

Even if we started drilling RIGHT NOW and building new refineries RIGHT NOW, it would take about THREE YEARS for the first gallon to come out of the spigot!"

Thought that might help explain what ANWR really is and how drilling on it would be beneficial to anyone who drives.  Drilling on less than 1% of ANWR is NOT going to harm the wildlife, just move the polar bears and baby harp seals to the other side of the reserve.
