If there are any other people in this world sick and tired of gas prices ....finally have the chance for you yourself to do something about it....as many of you know the head of gas in this economy is of course exon and mobile...... what if these two organizations didnt have the ability to sell gas such as people just not buying it.... What would happen?    As you have seen in the past if a company can not sell the high priced gas that it has already purchased then they must lower their prices to get rid of it or lose hundreds of thousands of dollars.....So what do you think would happen if people just stop buying gas from these stations for a while?     They will eventually have to lower their prices!!!!!   and once they do everyone else will have to because they cant sell theirs due to exons and mobiles being so cheap!   So STAND UP AND FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR YOURSELVES   stop for a while buying gas from these big wig companies and lets see how long their gas prices can stay at 3.00 dollars a gallon here in the US.    All it will take is just driving across the street to get gas or driving a little farther to fill up for a while ..... We all will be able to reap its rewards once you do and for many that means quiting that third job they had to have just buy gas for the week........WE CAN DO THIS.....ESPECIALLY SINCE THE MONEY MAKING GOVERNMENT CANT SEEM TO GET A HOLD ON IT.  Have any questions or replys please quote back.....                  ABURKES

Not as funny as you think....

Quote From: cmac1229

George Carlin's Solution to Save Gasoline . . . .

Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use..... The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants!

That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down.....

Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the Border....

When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq ..

Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military.... .

Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it.....

After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country.....

He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot.....

This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves.. ....

If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo.....

Problem solved.....

Remember the proposition President Bush made to legalize illegal immigrants here?

It was just before he OK'd sending more troops to Iraq. How much you want to bet he was asking the public in a politician's way if we'd go for legalizing the illegal's, but it would come at a price. At least, that's the way I interpreted it.

At first it sounds scandalous, but we did it in other wars too. I'm sure it's been done throughout history. Doesn't make it right, but it was an alternative.  Like I've said earlier, all you have to do is pay attention to what's going on....

ANYONE ELSE SICK OF GAS PRICES? DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!

Quote From: gwarrior6

Yes, it's very crazy.  The Chinese are drilling 60 miles off the shore of Florida.  It's sickening, they're basically taking the oil we could procure for our own benefit.

OPEC sells oil for $136.00 a barrel.
OPEC nations buy U.S. grain at $7.00 a bushel.
Solution: Sell grain for $136.00 a bushel.
Can't buy it? Tough! Eat your oil!
Ought to go well with a nice thick grilled filet of camel BUTT!

Average price of gas today: $4.04 9/10

Democrat Plan to Lower Gas Prices

* Sue OPEC: Savings $0.00
* Launch 7th investigation into "Price Gougers": Savings $0.00
* Launch 4th investigation into "Speculators": Savings $0.00
* $20 billion in new taxes on oil producers: Savings (tax passed on to consumers)
* Halt oil shipments into Strategic Petrolium Reserve: Savings $0.05

Price of Gas after Democrat plan: $3.99 9/10

Republican Plan to Lower Gas Prices

* Bring onshore oil online (ANWAR and Shale oils): Savings: $0.70 - $1.60
* Bring deepwater oil online (OCS): Savings $0.90 - $2.50
* Bring new refineries online (none since '76): Savings $0.15 - $0.45
* Cut earmarks to fund gas tax holiday: Savings $0.18
* Halt oil shipments into Strategic Petrolium Reserve: Savings $0.05

Price on Gas after Republican plan: $2.06 9/10

The point was not to be bipartisan, but to point out that we need a more aggressive way to ease gas prices.  It seems like the politicians want to "perfect" a plan, but at this point we need action.  Effective action before gas reaches $10 a gallon and OPEC charges $200 a barrel.

Wanna know where China is getting all the money to do this with?  From you, me and every american who buy things made in China.  People want cheap and easy and now we are paying China for it.  With that money they are able to drill that oil and buy those weapons.

I remember when Carter put the cap on oil prices.  It shut down Wyomings oil wells and refineries.  Towns shut down pretty much.  We are back on our feet with the coal, natural gas and other energy.  Now we have other states (who we supply electricity too) complaining about the co2.  While we do need to be careful and be smart about the Co2 levels, I bet the forest fires and cars in Cailfornia and Florida is a lot worse on it.

We have a lot of oil in the reserves.  If they would start using that it could bring down the gas prices.  I really don't think that ousting Mobil and Exon will help.  It will take much more then that.  I live in a tourist area and they aren't slowing down very much at all.  That is good for the businesses in tourist areas but it is bad on getting our gas prices down.  The only way to bring them down is by cutting back on our use of it to the point that they aren't selling what they are buying.  When a town 30 miles away, out of the tourist area is 30 to 40 cents a gallon cheaper, you know tourists are getting gouged.

Well, my mom and I can't really afford to go here and there, so we're both getting a scooter each.  They have really good gas mileage and if you don't drive around the crazies, then you probably shouldn't get hurt.

Ron Paul

Ron Paul knows exactly what to do about gas prices.....why is he not a major candidate, just because he isn't republican or democrat, does that stuff matter THAT much?  Cut welfare costs....which are being misused and abused anyways (which I find ridiculous...but that's another topic) and cut military funding which is being very misused....etc.  Also why don't we just control how much gas is....why does it go up everyday, you can't tell me that oil becomes more valuable each day......it's just greed and stupidity.  I'm upset that nobody does a d(*^ thing about any of this.  I don't blame oil companies....if they charge 5 bucks a gallon and people pay it, why not try 5.50 or 6.......if we just bend over and take it they will be willing to give it to us.  We don't have it better than most other countries.....contrary to what ignorant people tell you, some countries pay .30 a gallon for their gas.....how is 4 bucks a gallon better.  We need to stand up and do something, like people would have done in the 60's.  I don't know what exactly....hunger strike....stop going to work and driving.....burning gas stations to the ground and rioting.....????...I don't know, but we need to not just bend over for them anymore.

Ron Paul does consider himself a Republican and did try to get the Republican nomination. He believes strongly in state rights and minimal government involvement. Although I must admit I didn't vote for Ron Paul there was many things he stood for that I agree with him on. I'm glad that he was in the race because I think he pointed out to many of us Republicans how we have strayed from being the party of limited government spending.

The cost of gas is simple economics, it's supply and demand. You are absolutely right, if people are willing to pay a certain price, why not sell it at that price. If we owned a business, wouldn't most of us do the same thing? The reasons some countries pay less than us is because they have their own supply and don't have to rely on other countries to supply their fuel needs. There are many  European countries that do pay much more than we do.

The bottom line is we need to cut our dependence on foreign oil by both increasing production in our own country and working on creating more vehicles that run on alternative fuels. I don't think taking violent or drastic measures is ever the answer. If you're angy get involved politically.

We're at war....

Remember the war? It wouldn't do to use all the reserves up just to lower prices temporarily.

Think about this, we citizens have not been asked to contribute ANYTHING since this war started. In wars of the past there were shortages, the price of certain items and necessities went up, sometimes there was rationing. Our everyday lives go on much the same as they did before the war. After being at war for 7 years now, the price of oil is going up. And this is not so much because we are at war, it is because there is much more demand for it from other parts of the world and output is still at the levels they were 30 years ago.

President Bush wants expanded drilling...

Was I the only one that saw that blurb the other day? Of course N. Pelosi accused him of pandering to big oil interests.

It doesn't matter, I'm just glad that he brought it up. This nation needs to be more self sufficient. He brought it up when he came into office and it was booed out by the uninformed. Now that the price of gas has gone up to the painful point for many, it is more open for discussion.

If you look way back on the first page of this debate, I said to hold on, gas prices were going to get worse before they got better.

Well hang on people because they are going to get worse some more because we have waited much too long to wake up.

On further reflection, I see I've made an egregious mistake. We HAVE been asked to sacrifice for this war.

We have surrendered our privacy and a measure of our freedom. We have also surrendered some ideals that used to be important to us, like not becoming the evil that we fight against. (I'm referring to Guantanamo and other practices that have become OK all of a sudden.)

Sorry, lapse of judgment...

Exon-Mobile posted highest profit. Maybe they would like to help with repairs of our nation's bridges.

I read where our nation's bridges are in disrepair to the tune of $140 million. I also read that Exon Mobile reported a profit of $11.6 billion for this quarter. I thought a way to repair our bridges would be if the oil companies made a "Good Will" gesture by paying for the repairs of our nation's bridges instead of tax payers (who are being slammed with the cost of gas, etc). To those much is given, much is expected. I believe a gesture like that would not be forgotten. And that is what this country is about, working together for the whole.
