A tense family drama continues. Dr. Phil sent private investigator Harold Copus thousands of miles through three countries, including the jungles of Belize, to find 15-year-old Mollie and 13-year-old Allene who were abducted by their father one year ago. Now, join the tearful reunion between the girls and their mother, Michelle. Then, Dr. Phil sits down with Michelle and her husband, Michael. Find out why he says, “You could cut the tension with a knife.” What happens when Michael is confronted about the kidnapping? Next, hear from Hutterite religious leader Peter Hoover who was instrumental in bringing Michael and the girls back to America. But was he honest the first time he was on the show? Did he aid and abet Michael in accomplishing the abductions? Then, follow the girls as they go back home. How will they deal with returning to American teenage life? Join the discussion.

Find out what happened on the show.

Groovy - - - Isn't it Funny

Quote From: groovy

This is because he's a fugitive control freak whose daughters admitted to their mom preabuduction that they were afraid of him.  Michael's actions show he's all about control & taking the law into his own hands.  No one is saying Michael is dangerous because he has guns, but he's clearly a case of guns in the wrong hands.  Also, I believe on the "Missing" show about this, Michelle was very concerned b/c one of the girls made a comment to the effect that dad put a bullet in her butt, but before Michelle could determine what this comment meant, Michael had abducted the girls.

Groovy:         Isn't it funny, you have all these opnions about what the girls have said (supposedly) 2nd hand info out of the mouth of their distant mouther.  But when the girls speak for themselves all of a sudden you are deaf, dumb, & blind.  Dr. Phil stated he saw no obvious signs of "Brainwashing" from either the Hetterite Sect or the father - - - - yet that topic keeps popping up and Michell says she is afraid her daughter have been brainwashed.  So it appears she has little faith in Dr. Phil's opnion.  Dr. Phil and the courts seem to pay little regard to the drastic life-style changes the girls are now being subjected to and not at all gradually.  I think the REAL BRAINWASHING has just begun ! ! !

Jaider _ _ _ I missed that ! ! !

Quote From: jaider

Have you ever woke up with a gun pointed to your head?  If you think they are both sick, why is it so easy for you to excuse the mothers abuse and not the fathers?  Is the father sicker than the mother just because of his religion?  Because he tried to raise up his girls in a particular faith?  Because he got charged with a crime and she didn't?  Is kidnapping worse than assault with a deadly weapon?  Why side with the mother?

Jaider,    What about this gun pointing business?  I have the tapes but didn't catch that part.

Mystery Guest - - Divorcing Parents Read

Quote From: wintrywood

I hope the moderators of the Dr Phil board will allow me to refer its readers to new research on how tug o war between parents can wreck their children's futures.   We must reform the family law system that are enabling these tug o wars between parents and make parents aware of the effects they are having on their children's lives and the future of America.  As long as the courts allow it, children will be victims.

Momisme2 - - Losing Custody - - - -

Quote From: momisme2

... that you so easily forgive Michale kidnapping those girls because he was about to lose custody yet fail to even mention that mom NEVER kidnapped the children when she HAD lost custody.

You seem to view mom as some power hungry control freak yet it was DAD who kidnapped the children.  Seems to me you have quite the double standard!

Momisme2  - - -

Yes there may be some bias on my part - - - - you see I came from California.  A state that during the "Tender Years Doctrine" would give child custody to a heroin addict mother rather than believe a father could be a good parent.  I saw Chris Cvetcovitch lose contact with his children for more than a decade after he had taken them from their custodial mother and hid within the U.S.A. for 18 months with an ultra right Christian sect.  I see no difference in a father stealing his children than from the state stealing them & dictating how much time the father may VISIT his own children..  I also see in Michell a "Wild Eyed" woman who seems to have the same look as that "Run-Away-Bride" and who I fear will come back to bite Dr. Phil on his ass ! ! !

You keep on saying Michell said the girls said.  These aren't babies, they are adolesants and when the speak I don't hear this CRAP you and Michell keep coming up with.  You pull the strings & let Michell talk for them.  & the BS rolls out!

Groovy & Dr. Phil - - - When was Michael Served

I hear the word ABDUCTION over & over.  Didn't Michael have legal custody?  Michell is just now filing for custody and the court as usual is abusing the ex-parte powers.  It appears Michell's story has changed during the process, didn't she admitt to hearing DEMONS & then when she lost custody her story changed?  When were criminal charges filed & why didn't the F.B.I. retrieve the girls ? ? ?  Why did Dr. Phil bait both Michael & Peter to say things on tape that they could be prosecuted for ? ? ?  If Michael had custody, why wasn't he charged with the lesser crime of visitation interference ? ? ?  Now Michell drops the other shoe and makes sexual abuse allegations.

That statement was based on something I later could not verify.  The only alleged abuse I know about is what Michael said on the show about the pistols and knives.  Sorry to all.

Hutterites are NOT a cult

Quote From: mrcrabs

There are many problems here. The first is cult membership. The second is the mother. First of all she went back on her word. Not a good example to set for kids. I suspect it was her that drove them away the first time. Her other obvious problem is that she is more concerned about hurting the father than what is best for her daughters. I agree with the courts that she should not have custody! I hope the kids wise up and get away from her. The mother doesn't seem to understand that her daughters will be adults soon and she will not be able to manipulate control over them.
Before you go off and type such things  on message boards. You should get your facts straight. Hutterites are the nicest most trustful people you will ever meet.

05/10 Finding Allene and Mollie, Part 2

Quote From: judyblue22

I think I know a bit more about Hutterites and Mennonites thabn you aparently do.  There is a lot of child sexual abuse that happens in their colonies here in Alberta...so, I guess I don't have the same view that these people have to be safe because they don't shave their beards.  And I have friends who developed a problem with an intestinal parasite that has been a lifelong affliction.

You need to look beyond the bible.

Apparently you know nothing about actual hutterites. I spent the entire day yesterday at a colony. To be in such a peaceful and relaxed setting was wonderful. Parasites??? I doubt it very much. Hutterites homes are cleaner then the homes of the majority of Americans. Their spouses don't cheat, there is no divorce. You should spend more time at one. You could really learn alot. Hutterites are God's people.

......whenever a religion is not of the mainstream it is considered a cult?  I do not agree with what this father did, but I will admit that I do not know too much about the religion either.  What he did was wrong.  And as far as the mother...she can do whatever she wants!  Her daughters were taken from her inwillingly.
