With the Internet right in your home, pedophiles have an easy way to make contact with your children. The only way to protect your kids from predators is to know how, when and where they operate. Dr. Phil uncovers the secret strategies of sexual predators. First, he teams up with former detective sergeant Rob Nickel to perform a serious and potentially dangerous undercover operation: to out a sexual predator working the Internet.  Follow the surprising turn of events when Dr. Phil gets the Las Vegas police involved. Then, social networking Web site MySpace.com boasts 73 million members, many of whom are kids. When a Dr. Phil producer sets up a fake MySpace account posing as a 15-year-old girl, you won’t believe the response she gets. Next, a concerned mom takes MySpace into her own hands. Learn her sneaky strategy for keeping tabs on her kids and see how far they are willing to go online. Plus, with over 750,000 predators on the Internet, wouldn't you like to know who might be living on your block, in your neighborhood, possibly even next door? Dr. Phil shows you how to find out, right from your own home.

I'm a fourteen year old Navy veteran (stationed in Japan ) with a 14 years old son and a ten year old daughter.  I watched your show this Monday on child predators and I started wondering; what if these sex offenders watching your show decide to take another route and post on the internet as 15 years?  What then?  I really don't like the fact that you are showing these sick people how you go about catching them.  Don't you think the will wise up and find ways of getting around these stings?

We all need reminded-

I watched todays show and even though I am married to a Sheriff Deputy and hear all kinds of stories, I was still sickened. I came so close to vomiting several times it wasn't funny during that interchange between Rob Nickel and that pediphile. I admire those in law enforcement, including my husband for their restraint. I would have beat the crap out of the man before he could have went to much further.

Our sheriff's department has their own website that keeps up to date locations and pictures of those who are convicted of sexual acts against children. I can go in and pull up those within 1 or more miles of my home. The website that you have given us has given me several more names of which I am going to contact our department with so that they can update their records.

My daughter is only 8 years old. She has no access to chat rooms. I can guarantee that as she grows up her access will be closely monitored and that her father and I will not permit her becoming addicted to such sites as MYSPACE.com and those that will come along in the coming years. Believe me, this computer is more than capable of seeing the garbage at any moment if such a problem should arise.

I applaud Dr. Phil and his staff and thank them for once again reminding us parents of our responsibilities to our children for their well being and protection.

Thank you

I wouldn't be surprised if some of these predators aren't already pretending to be teenagers...their sick minds are capable of doing anything...however, they want to attract other young people, not predators like themselves.  When I first signed up with a certain Internet provider, I was bored one weekend and browsing chat rooms, and I wandered into one, where someone said he was looking for a girl...I said I was 18, and he said I was "too old."  Who knows how old this other person was and what age he was looking for...I got out of there fast.

Does anyone Know what  Importuning Is ?

Yes,

My husband is in law enforcement and the definintion of importuning is:

"To solicit a person who is less than the age of "14" years of age to engage in sexual activity with the offender, whether or not the offender is aware of the age of the such person(s)"

This is a "3rd degree" felony for the first offense and "2nd degree" felony for each offense after.

I hope this helps.

pedohile for a neighbor

We all hear about how pedophiles are being tracked but why don't we hear about  what doesn't happen when they are caught? My neighbors who I thought were also friends were arrested last July for child pornography, growing drugs in their house and child endangering. The 10 year old daughter was removed and given to the grandmother. By Thanksgiving the daughter went back into the house and they had another computer up and running. The mother took the drug charges and child endangerment and recieved only 2 years probation. The father is under indictment for child endangerment and 100 counts of child porn(that's 58,000 photos on multiple hard drives). He has been able to drag this out all the way to August. And why this goes on the three of them get to play the little family role all the while we have an elemetary school around the corner and I have a 17 yr.old and a 4 yr. old daughter. We have recieved no response when we reported this. When the realistate agent comes, they put a dvd player in their car along with computer cords and other items and they leave until late. As soon as they return they bring the dvd player back in the house immediately. The father even lays down in the back seat of the car. We have a school bus stop right outside our houses. The fact is it's ridiculous that she got a slap on the hand and he still has all the same accesses as he did before his arrest. They even put the computer in their daughter's name and the father spends alot of time in their daughters room on the computer. The  whole situation makes me so angry that I feel sick to my stomach when I have to see them come and go. The problem isn't catching them the problem is they aren't being punished harsh enough and too many of them are allowed to continue their filthy crimes.

There is hope!

Hey all, I speak to you as a single parent of a 13 year old son and as a computer repair / build technician.

First, I have made myself very aware of the predators in my area and have driven my son nuts with showing him the post cards that the local sheriff's office sends out and trying to instruct him on how to handle that ultimate situation should it arise.

Now, being the extremely computer savvy individual that I am (PC and Apple)I am here to say that I am somewhat appalled at some of the things I have seen on computers that I have had in for repairs. Parents are concerned about what their kids are doing online and most don't have the slightest idea nor have they done the research on how to protect their kids. Simply watching a TV show isn't enough.

In addition to building and repairing computers, I also educate people on how to operate them properly and instruct parents how to protect their children when they are online. In my business, I will set up the necessary hardware and software to give the parents some peace of mind that the kids are protected and let them know when the kids are misbehaving (or trying).

In the very near furure, I will be releasing a flyer for the local area and plan on making a pamphlet for those not in my area. In it will contain helpful tips on how to set up their computers to make them more internet safe. There is no total protection but what I do provides a very high level of security and will give parents a better idea of what the kids are doing online and how to control it.

I was a chatroom and message board host (moderator) on AOL for 5 years and have seen all kinds.

If anyone is interested in how to protect their kids online, feel free to drop me a line and I would be happy to give out some pointers (this is not an advertisement to solicit business).

Scared for niece

I am scared that my niece is in a dangerous situation. I wassexually abused my my older sister before I was even 8yrs. and I know she had did the same to a younger sister and possibly 2 older than me .  I am scared that she might do something to her even though its been almost 20 yrs. and my niece is about 4yrs old now. As you can tell I am not in contact with her now that she moved but  I am still worried and scared.

Lower case Culture?

"Sorry I cannot conform to your lower case culture.  I hope you will continue to learn from reading my messages. "

It's not a culture, it's common sense and a curtesey
