The beach, bathing suits and vowing to get in shape -- all signs summer is approaching. Dr. Phil's guests are trying to overcome the roadblocks that keep them from their best bikini bodies. Helen hasn't worn a bathing suit since she was 12. Dr. Phil cameras follow her as she tries on bathing suits for the first time in 30 years. Hear from other women who also have issues wearing swimsuits. Next, Julie has lost 165 pounds, but her husband, Kelly, says she's not skinny enough, and he would be embarrassed if she wore a bathing suit. Kelly says he needs Julie to weigh 150 pounds. Can this marriage survive Kelly's demands? Then, Melissa is getting married in October, so she challenged her sister, Kim, to a friendly weight loss competition, but it's turned into a fierce battle. Both girls will stop at nothing to win. See the antics they use to one-up each other and sabotage each other's efforts. And, Ed wants to be a trophy husband in time for his anniversary this summer. Can he learn to say no to the foods that call his name and tempt his tummy? Plus, big surprises for the guests and audience. Find out how you can get in on the action. If you need to shed some winter weight and slim down before stepping on the beach, this show is for you! Talk about the show here.

Trophy Husband

I think it is so sweet that Ed wants to be a trophy husband to what he calls his trophy wife.

What a guy.

Kelly should love Julie the way she is

Dr. Phil, Tell Kelly he should cherish the woman he has. I sometimes felt the same about my wife as he does about his. She was 200 pounds much of our 32 3/4 years together. I was often embarrassed to be seen with her on the beach and in shorts. I never was insensitive enough to berate her for being overweight. The last two years she lost 50 pounds. However it took a reoccurence of cancer and chemotherapy to do that. I would love to be seen with her now at 200 pounds. You see, she passed away May 5 and I miss her so terribly much. Tell Kelly to love Julie as she is. Someday he may not have her around to criticize. Frank

05/26 Summer Slim

Quote From: elffie

I have a three year old son and a nine month old daughter and what I find that helped me lose my weight the most was walking.  I don't know if you live in an area where you can walk without a lot of traffic, if you can I would recommend it.  I am a stay at home mom also and keep very busy as well and I breastfed my daughter and that helped with the weight a lot also.

Anyway, when I walk I usually put my daughter in a stoller and have my son walk.  If I really want to get a good work out I strap my duaghter on with a baby carrier and push my son in the stroller.  It's like having a 20 pound weight attached to you and pushing 30.  It's great for the legs.  I also try to put in Pilate time.  I have a DVD of that, but usually don't get much time to work out.  When I did do it I lost 2 inches on my waist.

I'm not on a diet, mainly because I don't like them.  However I have lost all of my pregnancy pounds, it's just having portion control, eating the right things and working out.  Fruits and veggies are big in my home.  Milk and yogurt are big as well.

Anyway, I hope this helped and gives you some ideas to help you.  There are also other boards on here that you can go to that are about losing wieght and people there might have more insight than I do.  Plus, it gives you someone to talk with who understands.

Elffie

I have three kids 7, 4, and 8 months.  I have managed to lose 30 lbs. in 2 1/2 months.  I did it by eating only home cooked meals in olive oil, no fast food, and no soda.  I hope that helps anyone who is reading this now.

re: husband that is not satisfied with his wife because of weight

This man, bless is heart is not recognizing who he is. My ex husband was gay and always had a comment about the way I looked and what I should do. 24 years of effects of self esteem is not goodHe should look at himself honestly.

Can't kick the insecurity

Gah! I hate shopping for bathing suits and to get one I have to be forced every year. It usually ends up with me leaving the dressing room crying and then taking the cursed piece of fabric to the checkout feeling horrible. I've lost 40lb and have gone from a size 18 to a 10, but for some reason I feel heavier and more unattractive than I did with the weight on.  It frustrates me. I do everything I can to convince myself that I am smaller and I look better. I compare my heavy pants to my new ones, measure myself, weigh myself, but what I see in the mirror discourages me.

I don't know what I need to do to lose the weight emotionally, I guess. I'm still losing and working hard to keep it up, but part of me is so frustrated for not feeling satisfied that I want to just give up. What's the point if I don't feel better about myself? This summer my boyfriend convinced me to buy a two piece in the hope that it would encourage me, but I haven't put it on since the day I bought it and the sight of it drives me to tears. I don't know why I have such a mental block, I was a million times more secure when I was bigger! For me weight lose has been a losing battle despite the fact I've been shedding pounds!

Kelly's husband

Omg....What a jerk! Kelly needs to lose that husband and never look back...she'll have lost more than 25 pounds, maybe he'll be happy then!

This man needs a reality check when it comes to social skills. We all think many things that we never say because we don't want to hurt feelings. He needs a giant filter somewhere between his brain and his lips.

If Kelly's husband could only see what a strong woman Kelly is....she lost 165 POUNDS!!!! Good for her, but she deserves better than that man. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Julie, this message is for you!!!

Dr. Phil and Julie,

I had to actually turn off the show today, as I got so annoyed with looking at Julie's husband.    When I was listening to him speak and his comments about her...I found that to be literally appauling.  What gives him the right to make Julie the brunt of his insensitivity??  He is without a doubt, self-centered, arrogant .  Why on earth did you, Julie agree to marry that buffoon with his insistance of you having a tummy tuck?  You are a beautiful woman and any man would be PROUD AND HONORED TO HAVE YOU AS HIS WIFE.  My advice to you is...let him know and exactly in these words...  I may be fat, but you are ugly and I can always lose weight!!!  Julie you are not fat, you deserve the loudest round of applause for you accomplishment of losing 160 lbs.

Open your eyes girl, he is not worth it..  You marriage vows state for better or worse....I don't think you get the better part.  I really got very annoyed with watching him and hearing your story.  If he couldn't accept you for you...why are you still with him????

There are a lot of fish in the sea...and plenty of fish that would appreciate you for you...

Throw your hook and line in Julie, and you will be amazed at what you will find.
