The beach, bathing suits and vowing to get in shape -- all signs summer is approaching. Dr. Phil's guests are trying to overcome the roadblocks that keep them from their best bikini bodies. Helen hasn't worn a bathing suit since she was 12. Dr. Phil cameras follow her as she tries on bathing suits for the first time in 30 years. Hear from other women who also have issues wearing swimsuits. Next, Julie has lost 165 pounds, but her husband, Kelly, says she's not skinny enough, and he would be embarrassed if she wore a bathing suit. Kelly says he needs Julie to weigh 150 pounds. Can this marriage survive Kelly's demands? Then, Melissa is getting married in October, so she challenged her sister, Kim, to a friendly weight loss competition, but it's turned into a fierce battle. Both girls will stop at nothing to win. See the antics they use to one-up each other and sabotage each other's efforts. And, Ed wants to be a trophy husband in time for his anniversary this summer. Can he learn to say no to the foods that call his name and tempt his tummy? Plus, big surprises for the guests and audience. Find out how you can get in on the action. If you need to shed some winter weight and slim down before stepping on the beach, this show is for you! Talk about the show here.

Okay, I just joined Dr. Phil messageboards so I could post a message.  RUN JULIE RUN!!!!!!!  Do you really think your nasty, rude, impolite and selfish husband is going to stop making comments about your weight once you lose those last 25 pounds?  No, he will move on to your hair, your nose, your breasts, and god forbid you have saggy skin after losing 160-plus pounds.  He'll force you to have plastic surgery then complain about the cost.  You seem like such a sweet person and he seems so unsupportive and negative.  The WORST part was when Dr Phil said "We'll help you w/ those last 25 pounds" and Kelly (the hubby) started clapping wildly.  Julie, a zebra does not lose his stripes and Kelly will ALWAYS be a negative person and HE WILL DRAIN THE JOY FROM YOUR LIFE!!!!!  There!  Thanks to all for letting me vent!
I'm so glad that the DR.Phil show allows us a place to vent! You hit the nail on the head. After the weight, it will go on&on.......Its a good thing they haven't perfected 'smellovision' because I'm afraid this guy would be too much for me. THANKS, Moderators! I really do appreciate what you do for us. I betcha it must get pretty tedious sometimes. But I really wouldn't know about that....(ahem)

do it for you.

Don't try to lose weight just because your husband wants you to. Feel good about your progress. and tell your husband to watch out. Because as soon as you put on a bathing suit and hit the beach, people will start turning their heads your way than he will have a whole other issue to worry about. who knows he may even want you to put the weight back on.he may have a problem with your weight but I gaurantee you that he is the only one. Be proud of how much weight you have lost.                                                                                   YOU GO GIRL, YOUR MY INSPIRATION

I feel for Julie and I really do not see anything in Kelly so why does he have the right to complain and criticize her.  I happen to be in a relationship that is simular but I have only been dating him for a year and a half.  He feels that there is a perfect woman out there.  She must have the perfect hair, makeup and body exactly how he wants it.  Well I'm to the point now that no matter what I do he never notices, so I'm ready to say goodbye.  I really think he has deep dark secrets about his life and he takes it out on whom ever is closest.  I won't be close for much longer because at age 47 I feel I look pretty good and I know that I need to tone up in a few areas.  I have tried several diets, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystems, Weight Watchers and many more.  I feel the woman really has more on their plates with the home, kids, work, etc. so the stress alone never stops.  I have recently changed my job and have elimanated the stress but I really believe that I need to change my personal relationship.  That may save me completely.  Dr. Phil I have been totally thrilled with my new job that I can watch you Mondays and Fridays.  I thank you for all the people you ahve helped.  lb
I hope you take the time to realize that you are more important than the man you are with. Take some time and do nice things for yourself you deserve that. As for the guy in your life I think a year and a half is way to much time already. YOU do not need a man in your life to make you special. You are deserving just because your you. Let go of this man he needs more help than you can give. If you stay for much longer you will begin to believe what he says. Do something special for yourself go out to dinner and celebrate your new beginning. At first it will be hard to be alone but in the end you will be happier and then "MR. RIGHT" can find you because "MR. WRONG" is gone.

Support

Quote From: noraann

......I don't think so. LOL.....I know I need to loose, but I just can't do it. I even looked to see if there is someone in my area to join ranks with, I bought Dr Phil's book, but no one here in my town! I know that part of the reason is medical other part is ME! Guess this is one show I will be watching. Never miss it.

Now what?

Julia You Go Girl!!!! You can lose the weight and feel better about Yourself.. and You have a great motivation,, new love!!.. Though You should do it for Yourself.. the extra motivation helps!!!

Here I am cheering Julia on in a similar situation yet mentally and emotionally stuck in a rut....Ijust turned 40 years old on May 12th. I weigh approx 210lbs at only 5'0" tall...being a widow for 3 years..I am at my wits end... the only time that I seem to be able to lose weight is when my nerves are so nuts that I am unable to eat.... I know it is not healthy at all and I so need help here, PLEASE!!!

To add to all this... I am also newly engaged to a wonderful man that loves me for who I am not how small or large I am... but I would love to look exquisite in whatever outfit we chose for our wedding..

Today all I feel is dispair....of course it is not all due to the weight but the other things are just too much to go into..

all I can say is HELP.. I feel like i am drowning...

If anyone needs a cheerleader You cant find a better one than me... but right now I need a cheerleader.. a true one....

I've never done this before...but...

I have never posted on a discussion board before, but seeing Kelly today made me so mad!!!!  He should be proud of his wife's amazing accomplishment.  He needs to look in the mirror before he criticizes anyone else.  He doesn't look like he lives at the gym, not to mention the fact that he is not even close to attractive.  What a pathetic loser!  Dr. Phil let him off way to easy.  I am a divorce lawyer and as I was watching I just kept thinking, "I wish I could sit down with her for an hour!"

Kelly really got my blood boiling. I had to pause the show and come on here and write. I think that his wife needed more self esteem before entering into this relationship. I hope she sees that Kelly is a very sad person. At first I hated him I was like everyone else on here and thought how ugly he was. Then I realized that he is the most miserable person and that is sad. To be so miserable that you have to make everyone else around you feel bad about themselves. DR. Phil needs to offer him some counseling to get his self worth up so he can learn to be a better person. If he stays with his wife (or more importantly if she stays with him) he might actually be a nice guy one he feels better about himself.

Need help

Dr. Phil, I am a fan of yours first of all.  I am 52 yrs old, I am Disabled due to a disease called Arachnoiditis, which I have had for 10+ years.  I have been on every diet known to human man and only gained and gained.  I am 5'2" and weigh 220 lbs.  I am very limited on my mobility, although I can still  walk.  I use a cane at times or just shop at stores with buggies, so I can lean on them.

I have been transplanted in Ohio from Florida.  Yes I know it sounds backwards, but that's my story.  I cannot exercise except walk, walk and more walking.  Trouble is, I can't walk very far and for very long. I would love to lose about 100 lbs, not to go to the beach, but just to be able to walk better.  I think if I lost this weight it would take the Diabetes away and it would help me to walk better and for a longer time.  Dr. Phil, Arachnoiditis is a spinal cord disease, which I'm sure you will look it up and find out.  I have been on Disability for 3 years now, I live in the "in-law suite" with my daughter and her husband and 3 wonderful grandchildren.  So I do have a caregive, my wonderful, God given only daughter, Jennifer.

Dr. Phil, if you can include me in the 50 people you are gonna help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Slim Suit

Has anyone tried the slim suit?  I went with a friend today to try on suits, and all we could do was laugh!  I wonder how a slim suit really feels.  Do you have any idea of what stores sell them?  Thanks for the info.
