grammas?

Quote From: kittynut

I agree with you.  Plastic surgery will be the doctor of the future as far as getting rich.  Don't you wonder why only sailors had them in the past?  I think there is a reason for that.
Hmm, I already WAS a gramma at age 41 when I got my first tattoo and no one is going to touch them other than my tattoo artist.  If I age gracefully so be it, if not, then the places I have them on wont be saggy - since they are on my wrists, ankles and foot and back.  And, FYI - the one on my breast wont sag either since I took care of that problem of any sagging with plastic surgery with a reconstruction this past year and still working on the reconsruction, so trust me, they wont sag so no worries there.

Thank You

I know you probably won't read this, but Thank You Dr. Phil.  What you told those parents of the triplets was what I did from the time my twin daughters were born (25-1/2 years ago).  I went to parents of multiples meetings, their anwer to almost everything was to get help.  I was too stubborn and independant for that answer.  I found ways to shop and run errands while keeping both girls with me and making the time special to them as infants.  As they grew older, I also tried to find special activities to do with each as well as with their older siblings so they had something special with me.  The only thing you did not mention today was that while trying to establish this special thing, you might have to play musical activities because the first might not work with one but with another, it will be the best thing since sliced bread.

Idea for mother of triplets

There was some discussion on the show regarding dressing the triplets.  What about taking each of them (separately) on a small shopping trip, and discussing what his favorite color is?  By doing that, you could buy clothes in that color for the child, and hopefully each child will pick a different color (especially since they are separated at the time).  You could also expand on the conversation, as to why he likes that color--an excellent way to build repore (sp?) with them.  You could also keep this as a secret between the 2 of you, until after all 3 have chosen their colors.  That way, you will know what "color" to look for, when all 3 of them are with you, and one of them "escapes".  As well, each of the children will begin to build his own identity, by his likes/dislikes.  (I'm sorry--if they all choose the same color, I have no advice!)

amen to that

I live in a small back woods town, and have been getting tattoos since I turned 18, my parents were dissapointed at first, but as time went on they got use to them, I am up to 13 now, a full sleeve in the working. My mother got one done with me for her 50th birthday, plus she got her nose ond tongue pierced and plans to get her belly button done, she always said she would try her best to take interest in everything her kids did. Now I am presently having a full sleeve done, and have been doing tattoos myself for two years. I also work in a respectful job, where they don't care what I look like, my union backs my freedom of choice. I am a mother of a beautiful 5 year old girl, and she likes that mommy looks like a colouring book, lol. My husband is very conservative, it took me five years to convince him to get his third tattoo. For the girl from the show your ink looked great and don't ever let anyone put you down for it, I was always told by my original tattoo artist, god rest his soul that there are two kinds of people in this world, those with tattoos and those without, the difference is that those with them don't care if you have ink or not. I always told my mom, she knew where I was and what I was doing, and still as an adult today she always knows, and she can be confident I wasn't doing drugs, or excessively drinking. I was away at a union educational last fall, and at the end of the week the one woman I became good friends with told me when she first got to the place she was scared and nervous but as soon as she seen me she felt she could sit next to me and she would be ok, when I asked her why she said it was because of my tattoos, she could tell I am someone who is comfortable with myself. And she was right, I am comfortable with me more now than I was before I ever got a tattoo. So those who judge, just remember just because we have tattoos doesn't make us much different than you, the only difference between us is that we aren't judging you.

I have had the same thing happen to me when I started in my corporate large, world wide corporation almost 6 years ago. People that are now my friends told me that I was scary - lol - jeez.  Nothing scary about me at all actually.  But my co workers and bosses, all of them, and co workers all accept ME for who I AM and not what I look like.

05/29 Parenting Dilemmas

Quote From: jeezlouez

If you want to find where in the bible it says its wrong to abuse your body, you can find it in Corinthians 3:16,17.

16.Do you not know that you are God's temple, and that God's spirit dwells in you!

  17. If anyone destroys God's temple. God will destroy that person, for God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.

Not only tattoos, but drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, and any kind of foreign things that the body does not need to live on is included.

My question is 'Why do people want tattoos?' My thoughts on this is that the only reason anyone want a tattoo(s) is to attract attention. Why do they want attention? It's because they are insecure about themselves. The same goes for those who dress a certain way, dye thier hair a bright color, or drive a certain type a car. Status is important to them and often they want to be like everybody else.

I do believe its one's choice to do what they want to themselves, but I prefer to keep what God has given me. What God has given me is a gift, and one needs to take care of, and appreciate God's gift by not using and abusing it.

The L-rd also gave humankind free will.

I am not a scholar of the bible, but I am sure that it also tells people that judgement is restricted to the divine, and we need to leave it to G-d.

Tattoos are bad???

I think it's really stupid to say that tattoos are trashy...They can look really nice...It all depends on what it is, and who's looking at it...I have a tattoo of three pink stars on my lower back...Never once has anyone said they were trashy...I plan on getting more, too...

And to say it limits your employment options is not correct...My great-grandfather had a massive heart attack & was taken to the top hospital in Mass. His Dr. had two sleeves done, and he was a surgeon...So to say you will be limited in your job choices isn't always true...

cover up ???

Quote From: carroll06

I am 33 yrs old and have 4 children.  In my younger years I was a little on the wild side and got 2 tats, and I would like to get just a couple more.  However, I didn't think ahead to good on one of the tats.  One is a rose on my ankle with a heart through the stem, small and dainty.  I really love this tat.  However, the 2nd tat NOW I completely regret.  Let me first say I believe in God and Heaven above, with that said I'll explain the tat.  It is on my breast (big mistake), and it is a little devil holding a pitch fork, with cowboy boots on.  When I got it I was not thinking clearly.  I used to say this tat symbols my husband, and no matter where I am I'll always have that little devil with me.  Now several children later, and in the heat of the summer, I am embarrassed to wear a bathing suit, or a tank top.  My kids all know I have the tats and they don't think dirty of me.  But I have explained to my older 3 children in depth......if ever you want a tat, please strongly consider what tat you'll get and where you'll get it. And come to me and be open before you get inked for life.
Have you considered going someplace and getting a cover up for it to have the devil taken off and something else put over it ?  I have had some that I did that with and they turned out wonderfully

Tattooed, Pierced and 55

I am a 55 year  old woman that is heavily tatted and has numerous peircings.  I started getting tattooed and pierced 30 years ago.  I love everyone of them and am not ashamed.  I display it all proudly.  I get stopped every where I go because people want to look at my tats and tell me how much they love them.  They all think I look great and can't believe I am 55.

I have 2 sons and both of them have tats.  I took them to get everyone of their tats.  They both hold good jobs and are wonderful people.  The only requirement I had was the tats had to be able to be covered by clothing.  This allows them to have the no tat look if the situation or job required it.

Tats and piercings are not the taboo they used to be.  Most kids go through a stage of wanting to be and look different.  Both of my boys went through this stage.  They all out grow it.  Tattoos can be removed and piercing will grow up if the person decides later they don't want them.

Not all of us are bad bikers, punks, degenerates, etc.  We are loving, careing, hard working, decorated human beings.

05/29 Parenting Dilemmas

Quote From: kittynut

This lazy, fat girl who does nothing all day should be thrown out on her butt.  What does this mother think she is doing to help her?  She is not a child; she is a grown woman who should be either going to college or have a job, or both.  I would feel like she was in the house because of her weight, but she seems like she is a very devious person.  She acts like her family is priveleged to have her big butt in the house.  I would kick her out in a New York minute.  What is her mother thinking?  She is as sick as her daughter.  She is more than able to live on her own. Maybe if she did, she would get a job and lose the weight.  I think Dr. Phil went too much out of his way for this woman.  A gym membership? A personal trainer?  Do you really think she has that much energy?   Let's save that for someone who honestly has a problem.  She doesn't need a gym membership, she needs to get off her butt and have a life.  I don't agree Dr. Phil.  I hope I am wrong, but I don't see her using your money wisely.  She will probably cash in the membership and use it for ebay.
I totally agree with you. I think this girl was rewarded for doing nothing. I work fulltime and go to school full time. I pay my own membership to a gym. I think the mother should throw this girl out on her big butt and make her grow up.  I feel Dr. Phil was completely wrong on this.  He should reward somebody who deserves the membership and personal trainer. This girl is taken everyone.
