I'M STILL TRYING

I HAVE WATCHED WHAT I EAT FOR OVER A MONTH AND ONLY LOST 4 POUNDS NOW I WALK EVERYDAY AND EAT LESS THAN 500 CALORIES A DAY, THAT HAS NOT BEEN HELPING EITHER, HAVENT LOST A POUND, SO TODAY I'M GOING TO JOIN A GYM. IF THAT DOESNT HELP THEN YES I GIVE UP, I WILL JUST HAVE TO BE FAT FOREVER AND DIE FROM BEING UNHEALTHY AND NOT GET TO SEE MY GRANDCHILD THAT WILL BE HERE IN JANUARY, GROW UP... WHO CARES RIGHT? WELL I'M TRYING TO, IT JUST ISNT WORKING, I CRY EVERYDAY I LOOK IN THE MIRROR. I JUST KEEP PRAYING IT WILL GET BETTER. BUT I AM GETTING READY TO GIVE UP..

DRINKING SODA

Quote From: thumper84606

When I started dieting I drank diet cherry coke. The day  I stopped drinking it I weighed myself. Two days later I again weighed myself and had dropped 2 1/2 pds. It was the hardest thing to give up because I really liked drinking it. But when I drank pop I didn't drink water. So I knew I had to give it up and now I don't care if I ever had one again.

I DIDNT DRINK SODA FOR TWO WEEKS AND DIDNT LOOSE AN OUNCE, THEN MY HEAD HURTS SO BAD ALL I COULD DO WAS CRY, HOW DO YOU STOP?

lambchops1965- Don't give up. It's a long hard struggle I know. Beleive me I know. I'm struggling with this to. I have so many health problems I'm taking one step forward and then something happens with my health and then I go two stepps back. I lost six pounds only to gain it back due to the swelling in my legs. at least your trying. Youv'e joined a gym thats great. I can't even afford to do that right now. I have no one to turn to. I have no one to be accountable to either. I'm on my own. My husband wants to help but doesn't know how. I walk outside as much as I can. I'm in such pain all the time. People actually think I'm angry all the time. I'm not I'm just in pain from being heavy. I've even writtin dr.phil a couple of times for help. I'm that desperate for help. I am doing everything and anything to lose weight and it sounds like you are to. Keep working at it and it will happen for you.

Don't give up actually eat more this was my mistake in the begining as well i thought i had to eat less to loose wieght but the advice i got from my doctor was to eat six to seven times a day not fullfledge meals.  This worked for me the first month i lost 17 1/2 pounds 13 the next then 10 the following now i average between a pound to three a week.  Dont be sad remember we did not gain this wieght over night so it wiil take time to loose it. i would eat 2 sandwhiches a day several fruits and vegies and instant low sugar oatmeal (this helps with your bowel movement which regulated for me after eating the fruits and vegies too) extremly thin like a drink i would drink this down while eating a half a sandwhich which you over load with lettuce and tomato easy on the meat chicken or turkey and mayo and mustard i did not subsitute for low fat.   I would eat four times at work once before getting to work and three times while i was there i would almost get sick about it; it was almost to much food if you can believe that.  then a meal on the way home i would eat a half a sandwhich with tea and a sugar  subsitute then when i was at home i would settle in clean or staighten up he house due laundry etc.. then have my final and practical meal about 6:30pm and of course drink water as much as i could untill i went to bed.  It took me awhile to get use to the water thing it was worth it the water actually help clear up my skin. walk if you dont like the gym do something you like go to the mall window shop do something as long as your body is in movement. Another thing you can ask your Dr to send you to a nutritionist.  You will actually get great ideas for meals and so on.  Also if you keep a daily log that actually helps out a lot and don't forget it's ok to screw up once in a while.  Be kind to yourself and don't beat yourself up.

My Opinion about Obesity

o.k. here is my opinion about OBESITY.....

I have struggled with obesity my whole life...I have read all the articles that OBESITY is a major health issue; YET.....

IS IT.....or is it a SOCIAL DISEASE.....

If it were such a huge health risk ....why are all insurance companies and doctors doing everything they possibly can to keep the normal person from getting or helping us with getting coverage for obesity issues.

Insurance companies won't cover obesity medication, sugeries, etc. because ....my OPINION....it is a disease that you can change by stop eating...or adding exercise...or what ever they insist will change your life.......THAT IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE.....

NOW MY QUESTION.....if obesity can be cured with a change of eating habits and exercise regime....and insurance companies refuse to assit you with that....

then insurance companies should reconsider how they cover self inflicted DISEASE such as

alcholism...because you can put the drink down.....

smoking....lung cancer...because you can stop lighting up....

skin cancer...because you can stop baking in the sun....and

drug addiction because you can stop taking the drugs....

LETS GET REAL.....OBESITY IS A BIG DOLLAR BUSINESS....THE HEALTH CLUBS, THE OVER THE COUNTER-FLY BY NIGHT ...HELPS.....

I struggled getting coverage over 3 years ago to get my insurance to cover my gastric bypass surgery (HAVE LOST A TOTAL OF 167 POUNDS SO FAR) and now my struggle is to get plastic surgery to remove all the excess fatty tissue and sagging skin....

I have to pay for this out of pocket, because once again the insurance companies and saying it is COSMETIC not reconstructive......

PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!

I WANT TO BE HEALTHY....I just need some help getting there......

I understand and emphathize with you.  I am only 5' 1" and at one time I weighed 250 lbs. Food has always been my blind spot - I eat when I'm sad, lonely, upset, stressed and once having children all those things were magified as was my weight!  I was very unhappy with myself and didn't want to cope with looking and feeling like that for my whole life nor have my children remember me like that; their friends, their dates, their spouses, my grandchildren one day.  I was tired of not being able to sit on the floor, find decent clothes, looking in big lady stores and putting on size 22/24 clothes and just feeling depressed about myself in that regard.  At one point it became necessary to have my galbaldder removed and many ladies told me that once they did that they gained 15-25 pounds and COULD NOT get it off!  Well, that was the last thing I needed and the PUSH I needed to do something drastic.  I had tried diets, programs etc and although I had been successful in loosing 40-60 pounds - sticking with loosing over 100 lb was just too overwhelming.  SO, I took the plunge and had gastic bypass surgery.  That was 8 years ago and I have lost 125 lbs and it has been and was a positive, successful experience for me.  I healed quickly, never experienced the often seen sickness and vomitting and although I still struggle with food issues... I have learned my boundaries and eat within limits and feel SOOOO good about myself now physically.  I know this isn't the answer for everyone - but I see no reason to be afraid of looking into it and I am proud that is was the choice I made to bring about the health and weight that I deserved and needed.  There is no shame in this option.  Loosing over 120 lbs is difficult and seemingly impossible without professional help, sacrafice, personal training, personal chef, support from many - some of which many regular ole people just don't have access to to accomplish the kind of weight loss I needed.  If someone choose this route you STILL have to change eating habits FOR LIFE, you still have to avoid certain foods,  portion control, eat even more properly than usual for maximum nutrition - it is NO QUICk EASY, MIRACLE fix or cure like some people approach it as.  BUT for some - it is the answer and for me it has been the best thing I've ever for myself.   I know it's a tough struggle and fight - but there is hope and there is an end in sight - you just have to find the right road to success for yourself.  This happens to be mine!  God Bless

I really agree with you here. I lost 20 lbs in 20 days on the rotation diet .. rotating 600, 800, and 1200 cals like this.. 3 days of 600, 4  days of 800 and 7 days of 1200..and then 3 days of 600 and 4 days of 800..that's 21 days. You can lose 20 lbs in 20 days or more depending on how much you weigh...I lost 20 lbs..   by eating more fruits and veggies..and no junk foods such as chips , cookies and candy bars...  I was going for a quick half hour walk each day... It was actually a diet low in starches and  breads.. with only one or two slices a day. I tossed tuna into my salad ...I ate 3 meals a day for instance I would have a piece of bread with peanut butter and half of a grapefruit , coffee and water on a day when I was only eating 600 cals..that breakfast took only 200 cals..You do get to eat.. and like you said.. it's too much food on the 1200 cal week..we're not even used to eating that much.. I think we get all of our cals from cookies.. I swear!

. Think of tossing your lean meat into your salad instead of  having a  sandwiches..That's how you lose another piece of bread that you don't need.. Have one piece..not two.
...in fact you only need one piece of bread at a time...two is too filling. If you feel less full you actually have a lot more energy to move around and to lose weight by moving.
.  Eat pleanty of apples or something that you can have any time you want it.. you don't deprive yourself because you eat one fruit if you want to..just don't binge.. don't go where you're sure to break down..... like into the kitchen before your dinner is ready to eat.. Ever notice how you eat while you cook.. You eat enough for supper if you eat while you cook.. Always prepare your next meal after you ate already..(just a tip I felt worked)..  have 6 apples a day if you want.. just don't grab a bag of snack food...or fries...that's where you kill the  progress you're actually making..Don't celebrate by eating a  pepperoni pizza or something bad for you..

Celebrate by buying something like jewelry or new clothing...especially when you realize that your pants don't fit  anymore..so you need some new pants anyway ..yippy!.....drink the water..cut out the salts and sugars..no butter or margarine.. but throw in some diet salad dressing.. don't eat hot dogs or corn dogs or whatever sounds like dogs..Think of healthy meats...lean chicken..and turkey..red meat is fine and you need it.. just buy the lean kinds. Drink milk at 1% and cottage cheese .. 4oz per serving.. You have to have a protien each time you eat. Women aren't getting enough protien.. You don't have to cut that out ..it's the bread and candies and snacks that kill our diets..it's the soft drinks.. it's the icing that you're licking while you icen a cake..
No more whites if you want to lose weight.. like white  flour  in your pancakes.....white .rice, potatoes..,.white bread ..white pasta..white donuts..no more of that white stuff... eat all whole grains..so much more healthy for ya. Good luck on your next try... I think I should put these M&M's away..tehe.

Hey Lauren I'm glad we are on the same page. Oh and heads up I due eat weight watchers wheat bread which is smaller and you have to get use to the taste; that's why I pile on the lettuce and tomato's.  Also I eat a lot of salmon seasoned with lemon pepper or plain with lemon juice. I eat red meat once in a while I have a problem breaking it down. Instead of using low fat salad dressing I use lemon juice which is good to help break down fat and a good source of vitamin c also helps with your digestive system.  I'm not a big orange juice drinker to much sugar.  Hey how did you know I love M&M (peanuts) lol. I actually keep single serving in my freezer you know the mini pkgs that you give out for Halloween.  I enjoy a pkg every two weeks.  I can't live without my chocolate!!!!  Hey I buy shoes for my celebrations,  after I lost my first 50 pounds my shoe size got smaller.  I love YSL or Farragamos also Mark Fishers shoes they are very comfy.  As for the jewelry thats my husbands department Lol.  Yes I due drink soy milk instead of whole milk, I make wheat pan cakes and wheat tortillas and of course wheat spaghetti and instead of hamburger meat and sausage in my marinara sauce which I make from scratch I use chicken or turkey meat which you can find both of these meats in sausage form if you like.  I don't due the calorie counting it can be stressful and keep you from losing weight. As for hot dogs?  I actually have a butcher in town that will ground up turkey or chicken and make hot dogs for me. They are pretty yummy.  There is always a better substitute we just half to want to choose the better choices.  When I due decide to have red meat I due go for the better cuts of meat I love fillet manon which has to be medium rare taste like butter.  Talk to you soon have a good night and easy on the M&M's tehehe!!!!
