To Nutrition

The least expensive and most effective workout you can do on your own is walking. Start slowly and build yourself up. It will boost your metabolism, burn calories and give you sexy legs!

Today is day to me changing my life. I have decided to put a hold on joining jenny craig, or any program and see what i can do by myself. This week i am starting the cabage soup diet! yuck i know.. but i want to try it. I started today by waking up at 5 am and going for an hour and a half long walk before work. And to tell you the truth i feel good right now, as i am sitting here eating an orange. I'll let everyone know next friday how this week went!  Jessica~~~

Diet

Quote From: jessilynn5

hey, i have a quick question, has any one here tried Jenny Craig? I was thinking about signing up for it, but i want to make sure that this diet is going to be sucessful. I had joined LA weightloss, weight watchers, and curves in the past.  Curves was great for the motivation and i think i want to re new my member ship. LA weightloss and weight watchers on the other hand, what a joke. I paided all this money to say that i was a member and than on top of that anything extra i needed like a meal suppliment or vitamins were all extra. I wanted to try gastro bypass but my doctor said that i can only lose about 60 or so pounds and he said they dont like to do surgery unless i am 100 pounds over weight.  60 pounds is still a lot though. Any one tried Jenny Craig could you please reply and tell me what you thought about it, and it would also be help ful if you could let me know about how much you had to pay, becasue i tried calling them over the phone and they wouldn;t discuss price over the phone, so i know what that means! It's probably a lot of money! Any replys would be great. Thanks so much!! Jessica.....Jessilynn5

Weight Watchers changes your entire outlook on eating.  While Jenny Craig just makes you pay for the food. They both work but for long term.......ww is better.  My opinion of course

Jessica, I don't know why you want to punish yourself ...  if you already said YUK and then you attempt it, then the only thing you are going to do is add more negative FAILURE self-talk to your vocabulary.

Pick up Dr. Phil's book and check it out.  He has explained in 1 place all the new behaviors you need to adapt to live a healthy life style.   The thing is, Jessica, you can either continue to YO-YO or you can start taking the small tiny wee steps to living a healthy life style that includes eating healthy and exercise.

Hi Jessica....its hard when there are so many fad diets out there. Eight days ago I started the Atkins diet. My fiance made me promise not to do it long term because he doesnt want me getting ill. He does want me to be happy though. The first couple of days was hard but now I dont crave sweets. I just crave a REALLY good cup of coffee. One of my downfalls is being a carbohydrate addict so I chose this diet so I could learn how to gradually control my intake. I lost 3 pounds in the first week. I know that isnt much but from what I understand that most of the weight comes off in the second week of induction. Also I am exercising for an hour or so 4 days per week. I think i have actually lost more in inches but i didnt measure so I need to start. Anyway, I would just like to say good luck with whatever you choose...Im sure you can do it.

Take care.

to HALDIMAND

I committed to living Dr. Phil's 7 keys back on 11/18/03.   Weight Loss Solutions is about adapting healthier eating habits and behaviors and I've been slowly doing it.  I've lost maybe a total of 16 lbs since my commitment ...   and gaining it all back.   For me, I'm an emotional eater with a food addiction to sweets and junk foods.

It's been a real slow process cause I'm my worse enemy!  It's just so sad to say that. However, I've made so many major changes in my behaviors and habits; I have just continued to adapt his keys.

Key 5 food menu wasn't too bad; however, I quickly realized that I'm a real slow at changing my behaviors and habits -- it is strange is it not how we fight so hard to keep the self-destructive habits we have developed over the decades.

I have mastered Key 1 & 2.  I feel good about myself and I no longer berate or beat myself up because I have gained a pound.  I analyze what I've made high priority in my life and I'm happy to say that I have reached a really safe place.

Although Dr. Phil doesn't go into any detail about using a food journal, I found that it has helped me to name my triggers and urges.  It helped to me to slowly wean myself off of TV.  and most importantly, provided me with steps/actions I needed to take to live a healthier life style.

I'm was pretty messed up .. a couch potato really.   I have been practicing how to cook and clean again. And I've been going to the gym 2 days a week for what is my 3rd year!   That's major accomplishments for me and I'm delighted with the structure of Dr. Phil's book.

Have you read it?  It's in paperback now and is available at the library if you want to check it out.

advice for a college student?

hello everyone, im new to this. im asking for any advice on loosing weight  during college life. ive gained about 20 pounds since ive been in college (doesnt everyone?) and its starting to bother me.  i've tried to "watch" what i eat, but its difficult.  I attend a university on a Quarter  system, so there is absolutely no consistency in my life.  sometimes all i have time to "cook" is a frozen burrito or hotpocket. my roomate attempted  Dr. phils weight loss program last year, but she couldnt handle it because of her hectic schedule.  my schedule is even worse than hers, so i would probably fail at that program as well. i have enough trouble managing my classwork, so does anyone have tips as to how i can manage my nutrion better?

thanks!!
