Quote From: steverel

Hello all

I have been dieting and exercising for about 2yrs I follow Dr Phil weight loss plan and have lost 75lbs.Now i have been stuck and can't seem to lose any more,I work out 4-5 times a week.My work out are 1 hour of cardo and after 1hr of weight training.I keep my heart rate at 135-140.Im 45 years old,I want to loss another 35 pounds. Is there anyone out there that can help me lose the rest of this weight?

Thanks

SRR

I know exactly what you mean and what happens is that your body is used to a routine and that has left you at a plateau. The best thing to do is mix it up a little so you trick your body.

I lost 180 pounds in 92 after I divorced my first husband and I did it all by myself....Now I am trying to lose weight from two major back surgeries and having 4 kids. I have lost 55 pounds in 3 months and if you know your body it will make it that much easier. Try making a little change and see if you feel a result if not change it a little more until you get past that plateau mark....once you start to lose again you will be so excited/motivated /with your endorphins racing that you will be able to keep losing.

heatlhly expensive ,I do agree

depends on how you see it!! When you eat whole wheat pastas, bread and rice, letuce, fruits and veggies, you know the healthy stuff, you get fuller faster and longer so in the long run you eat less!!!

A cucumber can run up too, what, maybe 1.50-2$, and a bag of chips, what 3-4 bucks,  an apple, what 3 bucks for a bag, there's what, 20 apples in there, that's what  .6 cents an apple, a chocolate bar, maybe 1.50,  I just bought some black berrys at .99 cents, a box of maywest, bout 5 buck there 6 in there, so that comes to about 1 buck each,  i just bought some prime chicken, at about 4$ per chicken breast,  1 sweet potato for .50 cents and brocolie for 1$, that's 5.50 for one healthy meal, at Mc Donalds, it's what, about 10 bucks for a greassy burger, greassy fries and a large coke!! no veggies, and about 600 cals in extra!!!

So I don't think that eating healthy costs more, also, when you count all the pills and what ever your problems you might get by being over weight, and the pills you'll need to fix that problem, I think eathing healthy is way worth it, it's just an excuse personally, no offence.

My aunt used to say the same thing, oh my god 2 bucks for a cucumber, that ridiculous, but then would not think twice about paying 3 bucks for a bag of chips!! OH yeah this makes sense :o)

I live in canada ,I love broccoli , average price is 2.99 .  That is expensive ,i'd like to buy 2 a week.    Also ,I love big apples per apple is 75 cents ,I would like to buy 4 a week  .Baged apples are often small, and don't stay fresh ,last few.      I love watermelon .,average price 8 dollars .   I love fresh green and yellow beans   ,my point produce is expensive ,if i bought what i wanted i would spend average of  garden salad 10 dollars   ,  6 dollars broc  ,  4 dollars apples   stir fry  7  and green beans   5 dollars   oranges  2 dollars  .   plus a melen 6 dollars at least and grapefruit   4 a week would cost 5 dollars      That would be 42 dollars a week on just produce . But I can't afford that  so choose half that or less and eat alot of frozen steamed veggies,if I could afford to buy produce I wanted I believe losing weight would be much easier ,fresh produce is so yummy but so expensive ,!!!!

something is wrong with how you see yourself

Hi.  I am new here and would like to post my problem area surrounding losing weight.  I am 5'6 and weigh 150.  I can easily lose ten pounds when I begin a diet but always give up.  I can get depressed or emotional and just don't care anymore and the hard work I've accomplished goes out the window.  I love to walk and pretty much know all the tips on losing weight and what to eat etc.  My goal would be to lose 30 pounds.  I think I am very fat and hate the way I look.  I know I can lose the weight but I would like to pal up with some diet buddies via email or IM., if anyone is interested in that. I can be supportive but also need support. Thanks for listening.

Michelle

Where to start ,your biggest problem, is your negative body image .  I truly don't want to sound mean ,but would want you to apprieate your body, and be proud of your body . Medically speaking    you would not be considered overweight  ,your bmi is normal. Be happy and change your views of your body may come time you may weigh 170 and you will only wish you weighed 150lbs .   Many women would love to be average weight ,work on being happy with your body !!!

Over 50 and lost weight

Quote From: ready_able

older and wiser I am looking for others in the same boat who want to be fit and lean but have age concerns.  Are there any young at heart and mind who would like to join me on a journey to tighten up and lose the  fat despite the obstacle of age?  Join an 80 year old with a 40 year old mind.

I do like and need to have protein in my diet plus fruit but am concerned that the grain carbs cause me to gain and I realize the need for the B vitamins and minerals that I may be missing.

Would like to welcome all older folks with similar concerns to share information with me.

ready_able

P. S.  Dr. Phil, you are very welcome too although I realize you may not understand the concerns and needs of an 80 year old.  :)

I am over 50 and my grandkids remind me but I dont feel OLD either. This is not an advertisement for Nutri system but my sister lost 40 pounds on it so I purchased the foods. And yes I have lost 20 pounds in less than 2 months, doesnt sound like much but you would be amazed at what a difference it made on a 5 ft 3 inch woman. The food has plenty of good carbs and I get so full I cant eat it all but you are suppose to eat all thats required on the plan. Now that I have learned what to eat and to only eat 1200 calories a day I believe I can continue with weight loss without Nutrisystems food, and although you should get some exercise every day, it isnt necessary to obtain the weight loss but you do need to tone those muscles.

Diet

Quote From: prekteacher20

I am a 33 year old mother of two who has been trying to lose weight(become healthier) for many years.  Since I could remember I have tried different ways to lose the weight.  The main reason I want to lose the weight now to to be health for my boys.  As of now I do not have any health problems(knock on wood)  I have taken a different approach this time.  I was a everyday Dr. pepper drinker.  I chose to stop drinking them.  That was in December (06) I am drinking water more and taking walks but no weight is coming off.  I am looking for aupport and ideas to keep me motivated. Is there any one out there in the same boat?
I have been walking also it has taken  me 2 months to lose 5 lbs.  I love Dr. Pepper. Now I drink water , mostly.  Maybe once a week some diet Dr. Pepper. I walk 3 miles at a time 3 or 4 times a week. I'm from Oklahoma also.       MB

I run a day care, so I have to keep all of my grocery bills, after reading your post I went through some, I just bought a watermelon for 2.99 and it was delish!! a bag of mc intosh apples are very good and if you put them in the frige they will last for ever and ever and stay fresh, banana's are .49 cents a pound!!! I just bought cherries for 5 bucks and was able to make my self 4 snacks out of them!!

Frozen veggies are more expensive than the fresh ones.

See, I'm the mean girl, I don't let people make excuses, I would personally rather pay 1$ for an apple than 1$ for a chocolate bar!!!

Latley I have been making smaller groceries because I'm going on vacation for 3 weeks and I don't get paid!!1 I usually pay 300$ a week for my grocery, for Me, my hubby, 1 5 year old and 1- 8 year old plus my day care kids.  Now I have been spending 180$ a week and we still get a whole bunch of produce, I would rather spend my money on alot of produce, then on refined sugary crap, of pre made meals!!!

Ex: meal one, 1 toast, peanut butter, a fruit, coffee, maybe 2 $ there, snack, an apple, 1$, diner, 1 chichen breast, 1 potato, half a can of peas. 5$, snack banana, a slice of cheese, 1$, supper salmon, 1/2 cup of brown rice, whats left of peas. 7$  That,s 16 $ for the whole day!!!!! and I was generous on the pricing also!!!

the key is portion control!!

I just finished eating 1/4 of a trout, 1 med red potato and 5 peices of cauliflower, and I'm completly full!!! But, if I go to A&W I can easely eat 2 double teens, 1 french frie and a pepsi and still be hungry!!!

Healthy foods fill you up and keep you full for longer!!!

and remember: PROTION CONTROLL' PORTION CONTROLL' PORTION CONTROLL!!!

Am I going too far?

Hi everyone. I've been "dieting" (yes, I know it's a lifestyle change...just can't think of a better word) since February. I started eating healthier, stopped eating fast food and drinking soda, etc. So...I lost 30 lbs. Well, I started going and eating out at a diner every day and then I quit smoking so I gained 10 lbs back within like a week and a half. I got SUPER frustrated by this and obsessed and started counting calories and fat and then I started exercising. I'm almost back down to where I was before (which was 294) but I don't feel as good as I did before. I'm afraid I'm not eating enough. I feel more tired and more weak. It has taken me over a month since I quit smoking to drop almost 10 lbs...and that's just frustrating. Am I too impatient? I just feel I am getting too obsessed with my weight. I think about it all the time, obsess over it, think about what I could do differently...the fact that I am this obsessed about it is very VERY upsetting. I've NEVER obsessed about it this much before. I know that my rate of weight loss is actually normal and healthy (1-2 lbs per week) but I feel it should be MUCH faster, just because of what I'm doing and how hard I'm trying. Ugh...any advice to my rambling? By the way, if it helps, I'm 22 and started the year 2007 weighing about 323 lbs. I am now at 298 or so. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

-Sarah
