day care

my three and half year old son has become very hyperactive in daycare.  All the kids get gummy bears when they are good but my son usually ends up with time outs instead.  They say he just wont concentrate or help or even behave at all.  At home I don't really have problems with him.  He wont sit and do stuff or even play he just kind of runs around but at daycare they are having huge problems.  They say they think he is ADHD but the docs wont do anything about it.

what to do

my son is 4 and out of control.he dosent listen he screams and yells he throws fits tell me im stupid. i try to put him in time out or take a toy away or tv ect.. and he just gets worse at. he a has been kick out of school and told he can only be in half day with the school he is in now because he cant pay attention i feel like i am loosing my son and i dont know what to do.

Daycare drama!!

I have a 3 year old son and I started him in daycare about 2 weeks ago, mainly for him to be around and interact with other kids. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!! The whole time he would be there he would cry uncontrollably to the point of almost being sick. The day care providers were not the biggest help because they would just leave him to cry until I came back to get him. I know they can't pay special treatment to one certain child if they're ALL screaming and crying, but he was the only one running around, trying to break out of the EXIT door just going nuts!!! I said something to them about it and the response I got was, "Eventually he'll realize that you always come back, and he'll be fine." 

Well, I had made up my mind that I wasn't taking him back and called the Administrator to notify her of this. Little did I know, she was watching when noone thought she was and the DC teachers were repremanded. 

Now my question is, how do I get him to go to another day care without him totally freaking out on me!! PLEASE HELP!!!

My son was the same way when he first went to his daycare. The first daycare he loved. The second took some time to get used to. What I did was I let my boss know I would be late or even may not show up. My job is very easy going when it comes to family, anyhow i went in showed him around introduced him to teacher and kids. I helped him to interact with the other kids. I showed him toys and what the other children were doing. I do have to say if the teachers didn't help then you need to take him to another daycare because they are supposed to be ready and help with things like that. Kids that young, need help when they have never gone to a daycare before. They have to shoe the kids they are there for them and talk with them. I interviewed quite a few daycares and made sure that they talked to my son as we were looking at the school. If they had no interaction at first then it was an interview that they failed on. Take your kid and look around, there will be on that will stick out to him and he won't just come out and be happy at first but it will be easier for him to stay. My son still cried a few days after the first day, but he eventually got over it. He has always been a blanket baby so he took his blankie and every morning they let him lay down with his blankie until all the other kids were there and he was more comfortable by that time. Now he walks in like he owns the place. Just talking and carrying on like he is something. It is just too cute. Just something for you to think about.

Work from home?

  I was just wondering if anyone has found a good "work at home" program yet? I have seen alot that advertise, but they say that you can make hundreds and thousands of dollars a week or month, I just dont beileve them. So if anyone has found anything yet that is real, I would love to know. Thanks

My pre k kid

First my girl Maggie is 4 I think they should be home till at least then if not five.  But she loves pre k she learns more and more everyday.  Things are great with other kids and she loves her teacher. 

I'm just now getting the importance of our teachers.  Thanks Tammy in VA

4 year old Tantrums

In the last few weeks my 4 year old son has started crying at pre-school, whenever he doesn't get picked to go first or if something doesn't go his way.  I have talked to his teacher several times and she feels it is a learning/maturing process but that if it continues come June she will have to suggest he does not enter into kindergarten, which as a parent is not something you want to hear.  He is bright and his skill levels are right in line with where they should be it is just these little breakdowns he has which seem to be occuring more and more.  I have tried punishing him by taking away tv, writing apology letters to his teacher, explaining he is being disruptive to the class, etc.  but nothing seems to work.  Most articles I have read, tell me it is a attention issue and I should ignore it, the problem is it does not occur at home only at school.  I am very frustrated and hope that someone out there has some advice for me on how to help him understand this is not appropriate behavior.

My daughter has been in daycare since she was 7 weeks old. The hospital I worked for provided a wonderful daycare for employees, but then I was laid off and of course I lost my spot at the daycare. So I searched for the best daycare for my daughter. The next daycare I took her to was a nightmare, If fact she would start screaming when we pulled into the parking lot. When she came home with a hand print on her arm, I removed her immediately. I didn't realize the state I live rates daycares on compliance to standards, educational standards and admininstrative standards. The highest any daycare can get is 15 points which equals 5 stars. Then they also receive an educational standard point system with a possible 235 points. They web sites list compliants against the daycare and how often the daycare is not compliant to state standards.  Now she is in day care that is wonderful. It meets her needs along with mine. Good teachers will never let a child just cry. I

My supporting 3 year old

I started my son in daycare when he was 4 months old. I always worried if he cried over me when I left or missed me horribly. I had seen children who screamed uncontrollably when their parent(s) left them. To my suprise, he was very supporting when he was old enough to talk. He would say to me, "Have a good day at work mommy and drive carefully." He didn't have any concept of time but every single day thrity minutes before I picked him up he would tell his day care worker, " My mommy will be here very soon." He is wonderful and very understanding for his age. I thank god for him every day. He is my 9-11 baby!
