Topic : School Issues

Thanks for reading this.  This is my first time here, and I just have a question for all of you other parents.   

My son's school claims that he exposed himself to another boy in the school bathroom.  My son just turned 8 a few weeks ago.    

How normal is this behavior.    I asked him why he did it, and he said he though it would be funny.   The school has reported him to the authorities because in their eyes it was sexual harassment, and he must be  being sexually abused at home because 'normal' boys don't do this.   

I have not sleeped a wink in over 24 hours because I'm stressed out over the whole situation.   I do not have HBO, or playboy channel or any thing like that at my house.   In fact , when the t.v. is on it stays on one of the cartoon channels.     

Any advice would be a great help.

The teachers at the school are treating the students very different and a few students its a everyday thing that would happen more then once.The reason for this is they live in a different town and because or this they are always picking on them.There are students that stay home from school,there marks are affected by this and they are always blameing us for things we dont do,I could go on and on its just so much to say.I also been a victim of this too, I had teachers no helping me in school,wouldn't let me go to the washroom,i get kicked out of class for nothing, I got a Principle that told lies to the police about me one day,and in a meeting one day he was picking up for the teachers just to make his self look big and to show that the school is the best.Its not I call the teachers "Child Abusers" in my mind becuaes I have too much info on the school and it will not stop if nothing is done and my friends will be always be affected by this and they wont do so good in school.The other day the teachers was saying stuff about me to the students due to where I had to quit school.I lost all my friends they wont talk to me on msn anymore im so pissed off because of the teachers.The school is just out of control down there and all the staff are nothing but Child Abusers.When I return back to school in Sept im going to have a meeting with the students and get all the info I can about anything the teachers have done/said to them or anything in that matter,im going to take the info and look it over and im going to have a meeting with all the teachers and comfront all of them and im thinking about calling in the media and show the public what kiind of school it really is.Its not a big school the most is close to 300 students in the whole school,and there is about 42 from Greenspond.im sorry I couldn't wright all the info down its just to much I just made a very long story short...Im really not sure if it is a good idea,Do anyone think it is?

In our school they fine parents for everything.I recived a bill on a book my son had.It was for $65.oo.Whei I protested itThey told me I had to pay it or fined the book or he wouldn't recive his deploma when it comes time to graduate.I had thre problems with it.One on the bill it stated that the book was purchased in 1993 at that price,Two I make it a practice to go through his back pack it never ever came home,three I pay my taxes and this school district has passed several school leves.I made a point of going to the school and telling them I was not going to pay for a book that never left the class room and pay full price for a book that was 13 years old when you go to small calms court you only get what it was worth at the time it was lost.Needlass to say they admitted it was till in the class room on a self the some how found it. 

  Question why do schools get the privlalge of fining  us for  lost books at full price when the book is so dammed old and out of print.We as normal citizins if we go to small claims court only get what the depricated value of item at the time it was lost or stolen.Why do school get to hold our childens report cards and deplomas hastage.I understand things need to be taken care of but is it fare to use these things for blackmail.Could schools fine parents the fare market value of things and fined a onther way of payment other then blackmail.

My advice to you would be, don't stress to much about it.  Your son is not any different from other boys his age. Kids do unexpected things like this and I find adults get over react far to often. Your son doing this probably had nothing to do with sex/sexuality.  He is probably curious about his body and all the attachments.  He probably found it quite funny doing that in front of a mirror and wanted to share it with someone else. My advice would be to talk to your son about when and where he should or shouldn't be showing his body. Ask him if he has any questions about his body. Try to explain thing in an age apropriate way so he can understand.  As for the school, let them do what they have to do but don't let it get to you, just keep focus on being a mom to your son and do what is good for him.  They can be a challenge sometimes but at least it doesn't get boring :)

I have a question for anyone that might be able to give some advice on what to do...  My daughter is 5 years old and is having problems with spelling and writing words.. She is very smart for her age, but she gets confused with the way words are spose to go.  She writes them backwards, the letters are right but she starts at the end of a word and writes it....  Sometimes she will do it the right way, but she gets really emotional about it and will start screaming and crying that she is right..  We were riding in the car the other day and she started spelling one of the words she learned that day,(best)  but would spell it tseb we tried to explain to her that she had the right letters they were just backwards but she got really upset started screaming that she learned it and knew it was spelled like that and just looked so heartbroken...  She does this even if we write the word on paper and she is coping it it still goes backwards,  should I be concerned or is this just something that she will grow out of??  I don't want it to be a problem and not try to treat it and help her since she learns so fast and is so willing to learn, I want her to keep enjoyin the learning..  Any advice would help alot...
