......I think alot of people are not happy because they don't know how to be. I think we live in a "too busy" society where people think they have to be on the go all the time. I like staying active but I also like chilling at home. People go into a marriage or parenthood or whatever their endeavors might be without realizing the whole picture, they don't put a whole lot of thought into it, then they get overwhelmed or they don't know really what the next step is. Parents, especially, I think is too busy to put time into their kids, so they think getting them involved in activities that fill up their day is the thing to do, activities are good, I am all for them but "family time" seems to be the thing of the past as a society. I think for people to be happy, there has to be a balance in their lives, a time for work, a time for family, a time for self, a time for others, it is possible to achieve, it is just a matter of how and prioritizing........ Kids are happy with the simple things in life and I honestly think they just want their families, to be loved and respected, spent time with, they don't care about the big stuff, it is we the parents who make a big deal out of certain things in life, therefore, it makes us crazy!...............................

Wow! I agree with that so much. I love to just "chill" at home with my family. I find the "too busy" days are the ones where the girls feel too overwhelmed. Mikayla will ask to go home when she is in place that's too busy. You can see she's had enough.

I'm so glad the girls had a great time. I knew they would.

My girls got some early Easter treats today. They had baked some goodies for their dad to take to work and share and my husbands co-workers wanted to thank them and they got them some Easter treats. He works with very thoughtful people.

I really love Easter. It's so much fun to watch the kids and we do an Easter egg hunt every year.

Have a great night!

P.S. I agree with your words of wisdom about the boards in general. I too was getting to addicted and I was responing to too many posts, even when I didn't want to chat with that person. I don't know why I did that, but I have learned alot and I am on less as well. My husband is working midnights, so it does help pass some time in the evenings, but there is always lots to do around here and I don't want to neglect that.

is exactly what I am doing at the moment, waiting for hubby to get home, I absolutely hate that he works nights but that is about to change as he got a new position in the company, he will be starting days before long and that means we will all get to bed earlier, that will be a good thing..Both the girls were sniffling before they went to bed so not so sure they will be going to church and if I don't get my body to bed, this mama isn't going any where either...have a good day tomorrow, It's a rare thing for me to get on these things on Sunday but once in a while I find my way LOL, but chances are I won't be on til Monday or Tuesday, not sure what is going on at the moment, my brain is not functioning well at this time, when am I gonna learn that I need to go to bed to get sleep!! LOLLLLLLL

Just poppin and saying hi. it is after 1 AM and I need to head to bed. Gonna be another nice day so the girls and I will be out most of the day as we were today. I basically said forget the household chores, let's go enjoy the nice weather and since tomorrow (today actually) is gonna be even nicer, we will again take advantage of it. We played with the neighbor kids from two houses down as well as the kids next door to us, My girls are only 5 and 3 but they have more friends then I can count I think LOL. I am beginning to think they are coming through the wood work, there are kids from a couple of other homes who like coming over to play as well, so I am sure the nicer it gets and when school lets out there will be a lot more excitement. We need to get a new swing set thins summer, the one we have is old and falling apart and it still has the baby swings on it LOL and my two definetly do not need those...My five year old is ready to learn to ride her bike, the one with training wheels is being handed down to the 3 year old, my, they certainly grow up quickly :), Hope all is well with you and every one else who comes to this board. and to everyone,Life is short so enjoy your little ones and know that you are the best parent for your children and it is our privelege as their parents to teach, guide and direct them in the way they should go, to love and to care for them and when we do this, I believe we will be blessed beyond measure. :)

Hello to you as well. I have been a busy mom today preparing for Mikayla's 5th birthday tomorrow. She is so excited.

We have also been taking advantage of some warm weather here. Today was 15 degrees C and tomorrow will be 17.

My children love their swing set as well. We just got ours a year ago and they get lots of use out of it. You never know what the kids will take to, but this was worth it for sure. I love watching them on it.

I agree that it's great sometimes to leave the housework and get out with the children and enjoy those wonderful times. Your a wise mommy!

I was going through a tough time financially   because I have siatica and a herniated disc. I had my own hair salon in Colorado for four years and was sucsessful until I started feeling the pain and could not walk.  I started feeling that i was good for nothing and had to close shop several times and started loosing business. My parents moved to Arizona and told me to let My chidren go over there untill I figured out what I was going to do. I thought maybe I need A change so i gave my Mother rights to get them enrolled in school close to her. Six months later I came to Arizona and got D.E.S. Assistance and found out I have deteriation of my spine from the wear and tear of cutting hair for 11 years. That is when the trouble started with my kids. My parents would contradict everything I teach Them even belittle me in front of them. My daughter started cutting herself because all the fighting I think and she is not good at math. When I tried to communicate with the teacher she never called me back so I complained to the principal and thers was still nothing done.Be carefull of some teachers that can discourage your kids. They can sentence them to a lifetime of low self asteem. My daughter had lice from one of the students her friend and because of our financiel situation the teacher would humiliate her in class about her math grades. I asked about tutoring but they said they did not have the funds but they kept piling on the homework giving her anxiety and depression and me worriied because I did noy want to seem like a bad Moyher I woul loose my life for my kids. I Finally pulled her out of school because the school called CPS and thought I was abusing her. I am so glad I did. I am homeschooling her and she does not have adhd she has WLAR (wants to be loved and respected). Be carefull who is teaching your chold the tounge is like a two edged sword, sneak up when call is in session if you have to.

Where are you home schoolers?

Come out of the wood work fellow home schoolers. I'm really interested intalking to people who home school. I mean the people who don't want to argue about the public schools, but chat about the great things we are doing with our children.

Any unschoolers out there? People who don't follow the "school curriculum", but come up with their own and what works for their children and family? I'd love to here from you.

My advice? Remember that learning happens in many situations.  It doesn't have to be from books.  Doing, reading, watching, every situation in life can be a learning one.

Can you tell I'm an unschooling mom? :) But seriously, have FUN with it, don't let learning become drudgery for you or your children.  So long as you're having fun learning they will continue to want to.  So long as there is desire, there will be joy.  It's full circle.

I'm an unschooling mom as well. would love to chat. Are you still here?

Homeschooling....

I have been homeschooling for about 3 years.
We have recently moved to Texas and I am considering putting my kids in public schools.
My 15 year old needs social interaction....my 13 year old has a little learning disability and I wish that he could have more interaction with other kids....he tends to be sociallly quiet.....with no friends.
It all bothers me.....and I just don't know where to start to try and fix this.
Any suggestions?
They were in public schools through elementary and I felt the school system was so streamlined, that if you didn't fall into that ....you didn't succeed.
Homeschooling is okay....but not my life dream.  HELP???

Well, I am hopeschooling my two boys this year. We started in the summer. We do 1/2 days 6 days a week and then our Sunday lesson. Both of my boys are Bi-Polar/ADHD etc. There are days we do a page and stop for 15 minutes. It depends on their activity and attention. After we move I am hoping to put them in a gymnastics or martial arts. I want them to have the activity and contact.

I am willing to take any advice. I just ordered Switched On Schoolhouse which are used in the ADHD/Bi-Polar schools I looked into. There are tons of free items on-line. SM MacLeod

I think that doing something like that is  a great idea. I know several people with ADHA, and am considering the possibility of having ADD myself. I have found that music helps a lot with those sort of things. Playing an instrument can help, or just putting on music in the backround. I know thast I almost always have music on all of the time. It may not work for your children, but I think that it may help, and thought I'd just give you the suggestion.
