  • If you wish to seek and provide compassionate support to others on your weight loss journey, this is the board for you!
  • Three leaders of this board have been designated (BJ, Cathy, & Sharon) to prevent us from getting carried away with other subjects and focused on the 7 Keys.
  • Feel free to post about those positive events in your life to share with the friends here.
  • Post about those negative events that can hinder your progress and we will support you through it.
  • Please address everyone here with courtesy, dignity, and respect.  Keep in mind that we all have read Dr. Phil's book and know what must be done to lose weight, so we do not need to be told.  As Dr. Phil says, "this is not a one size fits all program".  Therefore, what work's for one person may not work for everyone.  We all have our own unique life circumstances and physical challenges that can affect results.  What is needed is the support and encouragement to do what needs to be done.
  • Opinions & suggestions are encouraged and always viewed as "Food for Thought".
  • Criticism, judgments, and ideas of dictatorship are best left outside our computer room doors.

As of January, 2009, this message board will become "Read Only" and will be closed to further posting. Please join the NEW Dr. Phil Community to continue your discussions, personalize your message board experience, start a blog and meet new friends.

ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL.....

Long story short...misplaced some papers and looked all day...and found them about 4:00 p.m.  whew...thought I was going to have to "leave town"...lol

SOOOOO took dh to work at 5:00...took myself to Applebee's for House Steak and coffee (need to pick up dh at 9:00) and skipped the Bread Pudding.  Then took myself to the coffee shop and had my Cinnamon Tea and skipped the beautiful "goodies" on display... very tempting...lol

THEN...went to Center (just in time) at 7:40 and walked until 8:00 (closing on Sat.) and walked 1 mile.

NOW I have to get ready to pick up dh...  (that's my story in a "nutshell" and I'm sticking to it...lol)

Connie

P.S.  I'll read when I get back.

So good to find you sounding like yourself! Again, great job on the walking.  Through stress and jest, you are our inspiration!!!!

Small goals

Quote From: elpasolady

We have a new beginning ladies!  I'm ready and eager and have begun my day on the right path for success.

DH and I arose this morning very early and walked with a Leslie Sansone Video.  Then we had a healthy breakfast of 1/2 banana, 1 c. cereal, 1 c f/f milk, and black coffee.  (I also made sure that we took our vitamins and drank a nutritional supplement that we have included in our lives)  Oh, and I've drank 3 of my waters for the day.

I've washed and folded one load of laundry, the second is in the dryer and the third is in the washer.  I've also washed the breakfast dishes, taken my shower, did my hair, and put on my face.

So far, it's been a very productive day and it's only a little after 8:00 A.M. here.  The possibilities are endless - LOL!

Hugs,

Sharon

I will make small goals so i do not fail.. As i gather my momentum again, I kick a**  my own! giggles  I'll shoot  for 30 lbs off by end of May. I do not see this as unreasonable. I have a new Leslie Sansone tape walking of the pounds #3  for abs.. I'll work  on that. You may or may not know. I have developed RA, Neuropathy in hands  and feet, and an r ray Monday showed another kidney stone.* I thought the back ache was from moving .. packing boxes etc..

I now can concentrate on me totally! as i NOW live alone in my  very own apt. I have no one to blame but me.. so I need to get off my duff and take my meds.. and walk this body back to a healthier me. I do have my edge* Tony Little's.. this is bad weather or an alternate exercise  for me..OK i wanted to ck in before i went to bed. I am returning to church tomorrow am. and i am getting my priorities in order.Hugs n love to all of you!  SuziQ

30 lbs. off by May is doable my friend!  This program is doable and together, here, we will all make it happen!  We ARE making it happen and so glad you have joined us!  Good for you in prioritizing!  I also suffer from arthritis and know that the best thing I can do for myself is to get this weight off once and for all!!!

A FRESH PERSPECTIVE TO ACHIEVE WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS

It's great that you've gotten in more walking and are sounding better:).

As for the sleeping:

I'm working on it, and it is improving, but that's why it is one of my *Action Plan" activities, and at the top of the PLANNING.  I had too many years of interrupted sleep taking care of Dad, and that created the problem I am having now...I think.  Before that, I slept just fine.

The only reason I've ever had for not sleeping through the nights was when my children were young.  Once they began sleeping all night, except for when they were sick, my good night's sleep returned, until the past 5 years.  My sleep pattern, for whatever reason, nose-dived.  I usually manage to get to sleep, however, after 3 or 4 hours wake up and then doze and wake up, etc. and so forth for the remainder of the night and then must get up at 6:00 a.m. and go to work.  The women that I work with, who are my age or older, and my older sisters who are all in their mid to late 60's now (I'm 48), tell me it comes with the age I'm at.  Kind of like a part of pre-monopause and menopause?  They say they have all been through and/or continue to go through the same thing and before they hit "the age", they slept like a baby.  I've tried so many different things, except for prescription sleep aids which I will avoid at all cost, to no avail.  On the weekends, I try and get some extra rest and that's about as good as it gets for me.  If you have any thoughts, I'd love to hear it as I really respect your insight!

Cathy

Some of the things that have helped me were...

*Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Tea about 1/2 hr before bedtime.

*Soft Music which will shut off (not radio, which quite often increases volume about 1:00 or 2:00 a.m.  (??? why I don't know)

* Yogurt about 1 hr. before bedtime (or milk)

I'll try to think of some others...  I have increased from 3 to 4 hrs. to 6 hrs. on a pretty regular basis now...and can also get back to sleep.  That is an improvement for me.
