General Advice

Quote From: hoperdope

My son is a loving, caring, sensitive, 8 yr old that is very artsy and has some feminin tendancies. My issue here is not about who he is but how he is perceived to be. As you can see from the discription in my first line. He's not your average stereotype boy who likes cars and playing guns. Growing up he preferred to do puzzles instead of playing with cars. Which for us never was a problem. Now, he has developped some kind of paranoya. He thinks that no one likes him. He is a little boy who is overweight, and taller then average. Oh! and I forgot to mention that his passion is dancing. We have supported him in any activity he chose to participate in but, we inforce most things with positive reinforcement, but I guess there comes a time that a mothers love is not enough. He is certain that the kids at school don't like him and don't want to play with him ever. He also mentions that sometimes he just doesn't care and wishes he wasn't alive. He said to my husband and I yesterday,"You know if we decided to move somewhere else, where we know no one that no one will like me there either." To put up a though front he will use fowl language, to make himself look tough, because he is not the type to physically defend himself. He has been mentally bullied and gets teased all the time, for all the above mentionned. We love our son very much and we don't know what to do. We have arranged for him to seek help and everytime he does, he goes on a high gor a while but then forgets what he has to apply. If anyone has anything to share, and relate, it would be great to hear it. I'm worried that my son's will not live to see twenty, because of his depression.

Well you are doing the right thing. You support him for what he is and what he likes to do. Also seeking help is a good idea. You say he isn't really benifitted with the help you sought. You might try going to a different therapist. Maybe he would be benifitted more with a therapy which is based on experiencing and experimenting with new behaviour. Play therapy and Drama Therapy are both therapies which are more hands on which might help him better then a regular psychologist. (no garantee but it is worth a try...)

Also try finding more hobbies that he likes and where he is among peers. Maybe they will bully him at school but at least he has friends outside of school which helps him relevate.

good luck

Oet Gäöl

Grandson needs help from abusive father

My grandson has been removed from his Dads home due to being beaten..  He does not want to go back there... But it looks like due to first offense that they will simply put him back there... His case worker doesn't seem to want to help him as he tells her he does not want to go back and she tells him he has no say.. He is 16.  He wants to live with us (his grandparents)...

I have tried to contact his case worker and my calls are not returned...  I need help.. I don't know what to do or where to go.. He is living with a non-blood relative.. His step mothers brother who has 3 little ones himself due to his wife running off.

My husband and I would love to have him but what can we do??

Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated..

help with granddaughter

We need help!!!  Our 12 yr old Granddaughter is being tossed from one person to the next . When things don't go her way.. she makes acusations that she is being abused. She then calls her Mother (whom she doesn't live with) and has her Mom take her to stay with someone else. It is a very long story... but we were wanting to see if anyone might be in this situation and can help us.

Our granddaughter lives in Indiana and we live in Texas... Does anyone know Indiana laws?

Thanks

I find your attitude extremely DISTURBING.  You are almost a man.  Assuming that you are not mentally impaired, you should be getting ready to be a MAN!!!!!!!!!!

What are you afraid of????????????

Tell your parents how you feel...just say it straight...but don't expect them to support your views...why should they be changing your diapers???...and get your mind off of your mom's boobs!!!  This is just SICK!!!!

There is a psychological term for your illness...yes, I said illness...infantalism...usually men, who want to be treated like babies.  You need to be in counseling and/or psyciatriac treatment...

Have you contacted the girl's mom to let her know that you would like to have your granddaughter live with you?  If Child Protective Services isn't involved, her mom has ultimate say on where her daughter lives.  Maybe you should go to Indiana and pick up the girl, with her mom's permission, of course.  She needs stability in her life.

I really don't understand the whole child protective services program...how many times does it take before they remove a child permanently??

Can you talk with DAD, and offer to take your grandson?  Where is his MOM?  Legally, your hands are tied...children's services can't give out information to you without DAD's consent...However, your grandson is 16...in some states, he is legal to leave his dad, and live where he wants to...check with the laws in your grandson's state...can you hire a lawyer for your grandson?  That might help in the process of getting him away from his abusive dad, and into your home, if that is what your grandson chooses.

I'm sorry but you won't find any psychiatrist that will treat this. It isn't even an illness (not according to the DSM-IV-TR or ICD-10 at least) As long as it does not impair his life or he is a threat to someone else you won't find anyone who will treat it.

As what he is afraid of? I'm kinda guessing that you summed it up all. Your reaction to his fantasy. Because it is a fantasy, a sexual fantasy according to what I've read about this. It is also comon enough to have made it into at least one episode of CSI and some movies.

However I do think that there is a time and a place for this, by adressing his parrents he will almost surely get a negative response. It is better for him to look around the web for people with the same fetish who can help him.

He should remember that he also needs to become an adult aswell and that there is a life outside of this aswell.

But again it is not an illness by professional standards

Problem much...

Okay, here is the problem.

I am the oldest of five. My siblings range in ages of 12 -- 16. There are two 13 year olds as well. Anyway.

My brother has this thing of yelling at Mom (she handles it well, this is more about me). His tone makes me hurt because I love my Mom very much. She's helped me through a lot of crap this past year because I was going to get married. Anyway, as the oldest, I am not sure what I should do. I usually stay out of it but it makes me so mad and there isn't anything I can do.

I'll tell him to shut up with that tone and not to talk to her like that, but then he just tells me to shut up.

I am seriously thinking about calling the police the next time he takes this tone with Mom.

Does anyone have any suggestions for and oldest daughter who has no clue what she should do?

Its really up to your mom to put her foot down, maybe you should talk to her and let her know she is not doing him any good by letting him get away with speaking to her that way, the police can't do anything unless he has threaten her or hit her or broke anything in the house, good luck to you, I hope you can make your mother see, that she is the one in charge before she loses it  .....
