Dr. Phil continues his tour of New Orleans one year after Hurricane Katrina. He gets a progress report from New Orleans’ mayor, Ray Nagin. Then, Dr. Phil checks in with former police chief, Eddie Compass, in the same spot he comforted him a year ago. What has Compass been doing since he left the force? And was he fired from his job by the mayor? Dr. Phil gets to the bottom of the controversy. Who’s telling the truth? Then, Dr. Phil takes a look at the award-winning photographs of David Woo. His book, Eyes of the Storm, captures the devastated ghost town that was New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Share your thoughts, join the discussion.

Typical NO Politics

Quote From: lcowling

Thank you Dr. Phil for exposing what kind of a person Ray Nagin truly is.  Dishonesty prevailed when he spoke.  He could not give straight answers, skirted the ones he didn't want to address...basically had an answer for everything, but said nothing.. he truly is the drama king.

God Bless Eddie Compass,  he is a wonderful caring person and he should not have had to  endure this unjust type of treatment.  It is difficult to understand how Ray Nagin got re-elected, but as usual, money & politics prevail.  Our first instinct when we saw the Katrina hurricane was the lack of control from the mayor who was so busy pointing fingers at everyone else, he obviously forgot what his role was in this disaster.  We feel the mayor did not do his job nor was he prepared in any way to deal with it.

Also, you exposed how the property owners in this city have escalated the rents to up to 300-400 % for the tenants I think you said. We cannot believe that this would be allowed.  Everyone out to make a profit while the people of their own  city struggle and suffer while landlordscontinue to line their pockets.  If landlords in the city take advantage of their own, they should not receive any assistance from the government becasue they are adding to the problem, not working together to resolve it. Thank you again for your care and compassion and for expopsing all of this and allowing the truth to prevail.  God Bless you.

I have spent my time in LA as a resident and love many people there especially the family I have there but it is known for it's corrupt politicians as a whole. I agree with several messages regarding Dr. Phil's quest for the truth about what Ray Nagin did but the most important part of this is Eddie Compass got the chance to tell his side of the story. So many lies came out of not just NO but out of the whole state regarding what went on during and after this disaster so what happened to Eddie Compass doesn't surprise me. Ray Nagin needed someone to take the fall. Too bad it could not have been him and Gov. Blanco. She still doesn't have a clue and they are both embarrassments to the city of NO and the state of LA.  I am proud to be from the South and being that I am living in another country so my husband can do his part to protect the US, it warms my heart to hear the truth about Eddie Compass because other people judge Southerners by what they hear and see in the media. Believe me we get enough bad press in the South. Thanks to Dr. Phil for giving us Southerners the real truth about a man who was forced out because he didn't want to play by the Mayor's corrupt rules and instead chose to protect the people of NO.
