You write very well because I felt like I was there. Did you change your profile picture? I forgot to ask who first pretty profile picture of before you changed.
Everyone is beautiful in their own way... including Pit Bulls. Sadly, I'm one of the one's insecure of the breed of your dog Rocky due to a few of Rocky's family members in his extended Pit Bull family (aka breed) I've seen on the news. However, Rocky sounds like an exception so his name and your reason for naming him Rocky is perfect. Due to movie, Rocky, Philadelphia connection and his sweet side being the colors of Rocky Road ice cream (which use to be my favorite btw).
I don't know if okay to ask why you are so sad or if I should let you share or suggest you not share so you can use coming here as a release. So, I'll just say I'm sorry you're sad and I do care yet, as you were happy friends said standing up for you, none of my business unless you want to share. My dad use to say when you tell people "your" business it isn't "your" business anymore. If you call doctor today, I hope you get through and sorry you didn't yesterday.
Mom said she thinks she that was her saying yet dad said he said that. Mother lived it and dad wished he had sometimes when if he mentioned he was a disabled veteran it was considered a personality flaw... sort of like invisible poison ivy nobody wants.
I can feel for your friend who has missed two days with poison ivy. We both just got over having a light case of it yet poison ivy makes you feel miserable nonetheless.
You remind me of Suzanne and Tama Tamsue35 who both love animals especially A LOT. Come to think of it so does my brother. Hmmm... So do I. I use to think if I ever won millions I might move nearby either a race horse sanctuary or elephant or donate to one or the other or both.
I love and wish I was in a position to support well run animal sanctuaries. I did push for a new animal shelter in Dallas, that had a better adoption plan since it seems redundant to have the no-kill shelters. Pets adopted there just means one won't be adopted at City Shelter. City Shelter animals can be walked too and need TLC volunteers to help there, too... Twenty-five percent pure bred.
Actually, I brought my work home with me literally when I was weekend receptionist, on payroll, at a no kill shelter and Tigger is it.
First Tigger and I were lunch buddies because I just had a Gatorade for lunch and donut I took. Ate after work since SO busy. Then, I'd bring him home with me Saturday and return Sunday. Although one of my Irish Setters almost knocked off the points on his pointed ears when Tigger noticed she was not a boy too. Tigger discovered when he got a little personal with D.C. However, as soon as Cyndee took a shining to Tigger all bets were off and D.C. fell head over paws for Tigger.
Still no need for another BIG dog or dog period. However, Cyndee refused to get back into car one day when we went to take Tigger for a stroll at shelter and I told Lynn about. Cyndee had a Robin Hoodette look in her eye like she planned to set the stage of her own Walt Disney movie and go back in and not only let Tigger out of his run and all the animals loose.
Cyndee was a true red head rebel Irish Setter with her own opinions. I'm not completely kidding around.... Like you had Rocky since a puppy; Lynn picked out Cyndee Pooh at 5 weeks and she was a personified dog and thought a full fledged family member of the people kind. A person in an Irish Setter dog suit.
Too, Cyndee thought Tigger was a victim of doggie discrimination since cats got to be loose and even had a screened in front porch bigger than most fine homes have. True that founder of shelter first began with cats and did not hide their bias that cat people. Which by the way, a little know fact, that a fight errupted because before forming new shelter pets unable to be adopted were put down just like City Shelter.
In fact, rules for allowing adoptions never to allow someone who'd taken a dog to a City Shelter not adhered too and Tigger almost adopted out to a man who only six month prior had adopted from a no kill shelter a border collie then taken to Denton Animal Shelter. VTM aware of and could be why one manager quit since I told her about. That's why, to me, iffy puppy found in fire that was improving suddenly took a turn for the worse... However, that is possible. However, how mean to keep a puppy from a family that just lost everything in a fire because VTM said didn't ask about puppy soon enough after fire.
There was a black list with peoples names on not to adopt to that adoption cards filled out run against. A joke among those who adopted because sometimes just people on they didn't like. Managements idea. So, man who adopted a border collie then took to Denton Shelter since bark too big was told he could adopt Tigger who had on his card returned once since bossy and bark too loud. A death sentence just because saving Tigger was running up vet bills and nobody wanted to adopt him due to his skin condition.
When shelter didn't follow through paying for Tigger's bathings, nine years ago, as I was told would if I adopted him. I just told Tigger I couldn't afford the vet bills and other vet mad about shelter giving Tigger ivermectin (20 times dose in one heartworm monthly dose for a big dog) just said love might make Tigger well and Tigger and we got lucky and did.
Before I knew about ivermectin details, when I quit, some puppies happened on the scene and my VTM asked me to watch Tigger then asked Lynn to administer ivermectin for Tigger's skin problems. Why I took Tigger under my wing because he had tennis ball sized scabs on his cheeks and so nobody wanted him since thought contagious. Tigger's run was right by get acquainted room and it look like his little doggie heart broke when nobody ever was interested in him.
Lynn and I both got attached since vet tec there and our vet said each dose had potential to kill Tigger so we never knew if the next day Tigger would be alive. I quit working there when my vet hit the ceiling when I took Tigger there on emergency and learned not suppose to give ivermectin to Collies or Collie mix breeds.
Vet said likely why VTM and former big whig at PBS didn't want to treat Tigger on site and never had a run available for me to return Tigger. Very stressful because my vet projected on me his rage at VTM yet told me not to stop treatments. Well, Lynn was doing since was a former Green Beret medic and I didn't want to do even before I knew collies and collie mixes not suppose to have. I reported to newspaper, however, instead organization still highly thought of and I don't think I was believed since is.
It was due to seeing misuse of donations, pets used to get donations then not properly cared for by vet tec manager unless staff took up slack. Especially one pet vtm told staff to tell owners not there who's house had burned down. Pet was improving then vet tec manager had too many irons in the fire with her greyhounds and pet went from making excellent recovery to dying.
Shelter would not tell owners if they found pets because tried and convicted by staff as unfit owners or pet wouldn't have been loose. I had an escape artist Irish Setter, Firessa, so I know that's just not true 100% of the time.
So, between my not being told ivermectin ILLEGAL to give to Tigger that shelter and shelter vet aware of, shelter not following through with vet bills IF I adopted Tigger as I was told, and their using pet news station gave to them found in fire for donations then didn't return to family... telling staff to not tell news people or anyone puppy there.
Well, just like discovered with Goodwill or Salvation Army in California I believe... donations unbeknownst to donors are picked through and even sold at garage sales with some donations even going for pizza parties, by vet tec manager (vtm) where I worked. Two streets over some folks on south side of street sell donated items in garage sales as did another around the corner on and intersecting street. Oh, and that one last weekend set some of what not sold out for City Pickup. I even saw at Univ. of Dallas Catholic College high ups taking cash mailed in for transcripts because said if gave to accounting they'd keep so I quit working there. I refused to go to fancy restaurant they treated themselves too since underpaid, they said, rationalizing why they did. Jobs with high turnovers like shelter etc. sometimes are because people don't want to be party to their shades of gray policies. Its stressful because you know the standard a lawyer said on a news magazine is for clients to deny, deny, deny... I guess with the age of video cameras now if I had one I could tape. Still though quite often people don't want to know and I don't think I was believed when I've spoken up. Perhaps, why I'm venting today.
I never participated in parties yet saw vet tec manager grab from donation box to pay for to make up for when she was mean to staff. Over ten quit while I was there including one manager and myself. Oh, too, I didn't want to be the one given a list to send thank yous for donations and told to sign my name on donations I never saw and had no idea what they did with. I opted out of doing yet was expected to do and offered a raise. Nope. I quit. They may have DFW area fooled and news folks since one main person (asked to step down) use to work for PBS. Yet I know what I saw.
A dog known to be skiddish given to a child and I warned against and when child returned dog saying bit a friend of hers I had her tell former PBS big whig who said okay and she just said not to ever let anyone personally complain to her again.
It was all that that led me to push for a better Animal Shelter in Dallas and FINALLY we have one with an adoption center and vet on site. Although, cities misuse funds too as there are crooks every where including at highest levels of government. So everyone could improve and the day anyone thinks they don't need to is likely the day need to the most. Including myself. Oh well, there's a religious belief that hopefully from every bad some good evolves and did. I always wanted to be a receptionist and Tigger has turned out to be a fine pet. However, I see now why receptionist listed as a stressful job now.
You were wise to all it a day and I've spent too much time on this and, speaking of Tigger, need to go resupply his dog food. I don't have time to proof so if skips around that's why... I was rushing to go on errand and so my thoughts all over the place.
Thanks for sharing about Rocky. LOVE the way he got his name. You described their personalities so well I could picture all three pets. I hope you can get a good physical to find out why you are crying so much. As you can see above sometimes it is hard to know what to say or do. Quitting didn't change either of the two places I worked for and just looked like my personality flaw and left me doing damage control on my resume' when, to me, not being party to means I had integrity. Maybe my standards are set too high and that's the norm. I hope not though. What to do?
What do you think is in "your" best interest for you to do to find out why you are crying so much? You did better than me cutting your post short so you'd feel good for work. So, I think though a bit late, I'll follow your lead and go since duty is calling me to action, too.
P.S. Sorry not one of my best posts. Not the best job yet Tigger's one of the best dogs I ever had and part of what wasn't best about job, exploiting employees, is why I have Tigger. Does that make sense? Not sure what my quitting proved except I didn't have a job then for life isn't perfect, the world isn't perfect and (definitely) I'm not and just doing the best I can. FFA Whistle Blowers were applauded recently on CBS news. Hard to know when to blow and when to put a sock in it.
P.S.S. Does dntask stand for Don't ask? Like you, gotta go. Better to get a handle on it late than never. There it is... Hugs and prayers, SEA
