Morning Sea

Sorry your having a hard time. Men can be so inconsiderate, they just don't think. Instead of just saying and accepting they are stressed they take it out on the ones closest to them. The ones that are always there supporting them.

If your making a plan or not, I am behind your decision. Only you know what is best for you and what you want in life.

Today is my last day of work, then I am on holidays for 2 whole weeks. I'm excited, I really need a break. I'm leaving on sunday to go to a lake, I will be there till at least friday. Not sure yet if I will stay the weekend. Then the week after I will go see my aunt. Maybe do some horseback riding, hitting the flea shops, and maybe head into the bush, down to the river and pick some rocks. It wouldn't be a trip to BC without bringing rocks back lol. Usually I come back with a truck full of treasures from the flea shop and stuff my aunt sends home with me.

I will try to check in before I leave but still so much to do. I haven't really done much at all to prepare for camping. Going through crap again this week, men troubles. Andre had invited me to go camping last weekend then withdrew the invite, it was turning into a "guys" weekend. Well then he reinvited me but by the time we connected it was too late to go and I had golfing plans for the next morning. He was so excited saturday night and really sounded like he had something to say to me (sounded like a light bulb moment) well he was going to call me sunday night. Lets see here we are friday and I still have not heard from him and he is not answering my calls. So I had myself a little cry last night but I will take the next 2 weeks to think about things. Who knows by then maybe I will hear from him and he may have a good excuse. I won't hold my breath though.

Ok time to get ready for work. You take care of yourself, don't let things get you down, they have a way of working out. Good or bad, but in the end it is always for a reason.

XOXOXOXOXO

Laurie

Morning lauriej aka Laurie (Thank you!)

Thanks Laurie. WOW! What you are doing sounds like something I'd like to do for 2 weeks. Enjoy enough for us all. I LOVE rocks and seashells. If I ever move I sure don't want to leave my rock and shell and sand dollar collection behind.

I'm out of O Organics Oolong Peach Tea so I may take up a couple of items to Destiny's vendors FREE. Just to open up space plus I found them all curb side shopping so... Even though have value were FREE to me... Frees up space here. One item is a telephone table that will just ruin sitting out on front porch and a woman who stopped by and bought about 20 items for $20 almost bought for $5. Worth more to the right person yet... as I told Sue finding right market is a maze unless an expert. Even persons at Destiny's have items priced less than worth and don't move. I think for most there just a hobby hoping to come across an Antique Road Show rare find, one vendor told me, and selling what find while hoping and looking.

I've already paid myself for what I might sell items for. I thought. "Okay, a booth is $125. So, by not getting a booth, I've made $125 and now I'm I'm giving to Destiny's FREE". I don't get a donation slip, however, technically you can only donate what you've owned a year so... All my donation slips of curb side shopping items useless and if used definitely would send red flags up on income tax plus I/we wouldn't do since we read cannot. I just keep donation slips for something to show I donated. A hobby.

Thanks for moral support, Laurie. Sue's post gave me an idea I've already submitted to PBS and Antique Road Show via their contact information form. Hopefully, they see. Copy of letter is below:

"Thrift stores to benefit Antique Road Show and/or PBS to train at risk youth and/or others needing skills how to recognize valuable historic and vintage etc. items and sell through a store and online to benefit PBS. THE RICHEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD, CBS news reported, LIVES IN CHINA, recycling paper trash from USA that she has returned to recycle in empty import ships returning to China.

Also, PBS Brigade spotters to enlist viewers or volunteers to keep eye open for valuable items set out for City Pickup. Daily public announdements to donate usable items to PBS Thrift Store or Antique Road Show thrift stores to benefit PBS or other charitable ventures thereof.

As recycle momma of Dallas I have come across lots of historic items set out curbside for City Pickup. Especially curbside in front of homes sold in Estate Sales where persons are so exasperated because will be fined, $1,000, if all items not out of house on closing date. How sad that people value going to see relics in pyramids yet much of USA and even world history and usable and recyclable items ending up not only wasting landfill space and ruined because of.

In cities throughout USA, like Dallas, often times valuable history is set by curb for City Pickup monthly "trash" days of larger items or larger quantity of items when people spring clean out garages or attics or move etc.

I've found an 1800's huge bible (written in German) with large silver buckles to keep intact so huge. An1800's hand tooled leather and ornate wood D. N. Selleg of Newburg, NY chair that looked to have a removable headrest with autographs written inside. (What's more fascinating is D. N. Selleg was blind.) You name it. I find it. From Civil War photographs and other antique paperwork or larger items to gold or diamond jewelry thrown out because missing one stone. New items and antique items and everything in-between.

I see usable and recyclable items and books galore and everything under the sun often ruined by rain while sitting out curbside. You can sell metal for $200 a pickup load and gold for $900 an ounce and MOST of what I see curbside is valuable or recyclable.

Recycle Momma of Dallas
Motto: IMPROVE EARTH'S FATE: RECYCLE & DONATE."
Life is a team effort. Join the team... recycling"

I found some errors in above to PBS and Antique Road Show so I need to go resend. Thanks for moral support Laurie. Much needed. I hope you enjoy your two weeks off more than any other time off in your life. Hugs and prayers, xoxoxoxox SEA

I was wondering why I had this urge to get up early this a.m. YAY! Sue!!! Telling it like it is. Thank you.

Lots of good ideas there, Sue, that I am taking to heart. Quite a few I'm doing and so mysterious that I even haven't mentioned here.

Part of the pink slipping... was that before items even pink slipped I'd decided to sell or give to special persons after Lynn's collapse last year when hospitalized. I realized I had too many loose ends.

As self nominated "Recycle Momma of Dallas" I would prefer items to not end up in landfill, ruined and wasting landfill space, as most vintage or antique.

Only allowed 2 garage sales here A YEAR. Items I have have value yet, unless you have your own shop, not that big of a market. Now, even, Half Price Books thinks I'm more of a business than that I'm just trying to prevent perfectly good books from ending up in landfill and I think that's why I was only given $10 last trip to sell. Nope, what I make just about makes me break even for effort doing "as a hobby" yet just paid not much more than for gasoline to take to sell last time. Nonetheless, I'm glad I made the effort. Lots of hobbies don't pay. It was a passing phase.

I just got a mailing from Antique Road Show that what seems to be a first edition "Cat in the Hat" Dr. Seuss book I found is worth $2,500. I suppose for the same reason I kept and hadn't sold since "sentimental". Yet, having things of value with no market even items at Destiny's Antiques sit and sit for vendors. I see Estate after Estate sale and Garage et al sales of items "of value" going selling for peanuts because persons saved yet never had a market to sell.

However, I'd like to know just who it is that will pay the price for all the appraised values on Antique Road Show on PBS? Often, when Lynn and I have watched we are like we'd say, "Okay, we want to sell it. Who wants to buy?" Even on E-Bay lots of items never bid on including an item Lynn put on.

I'd been donating or, if Lynn or I or someone we knew wanted, keeping items I find curb side shopping, keeping. I've sold some to antique stores for garage sale prices that I felt might be damaged being donated. Since, if bought at garage sales, not appreciated.

Then, because I saw a market if a person has their own store I suggested to Dr. Phil and Oprah who have the wherewithal to begin Thrift stores and enlist viewers to recycle each show rather than throw out. It'd be a wonderful program for at risk youth to learn how to identify valuable items and sell at store and online.

Dr. Phil and Oprah have the reputation to make recycling all usable and recyclable items soar into (not only a philanthropic success) and a $$$ success. Richest woman in the world fills empty import ships from China with paper trash from USA to recycle, CBS news reported. In other words, for five years or more, the world could change focus from producing and instead recycling and refurbishing and society and the world environment be richer for it. A pickup load of metal in Dallas, fetches $200. Where are Bill Gates and Warren Buffet and All Gore? Oh, website I suggested to Sir Richard Branson We.com for his $25,000,000 carbon reduction contest he was inspired by Al Gore to do... Afterwards, Al Gore began a website "We Can Solve it" and We is the logo. Well, as I say, life is a team effort of you, me, WE recycling. I'm glad he got the memo since "Father of the Internet". I mean that in a nice way.

After how mean my neighbor was to me taking someone to beauty parlor isn't appealing to me whatsoever. Since I have had quite a few abusive bosses that hand out paychecks... jumping out of the frying pan into the fire doesn't sound appealing. In other words, as Dr. Phil says, "Life isn't cured. It is managed." So, for the most part, I'm managing well considering everything.

So, thanks for plan, and that is my plan too to an extent. (As God is My Witness) if Dr. Phil or Oprah stopped by he/she/they could have everything I've (emphasis "I've") pink slipped to begin their thrift stores to benefit either/or or both Dr. Phil Foundation or Angel Network. However, since doesn't seem like they got the memo of my suggesting I'll have to make do with thrift stores available. OMG! Maybe I should suggest one to Antique Road Show or PBS. OMG! I will today!

In my home town, if I ever move back, they don't do the monthly curb side pick up and charge for items taken to dump by pound. Or... I'd have my own cute thrift store "What the Cat Drug In" in my home town. I'd love to have one of those shops like you see in the East with store on the bottom and apartment on top (if legal) on Main Street in my home town. And be Recycle Momma there. Maybe with a cute Bistro table in front with a pretty painted sign, "Sit for a spell" just for anyone passing by. That could be my signature. My hand painted recycled prayer chairs passers by could take IF would treasure and recycle or donate when tired of.

Being a live-in assistant "is like a box of chocolates" and you never know who you're going to get. The same insecurity I feel here since home not in my name I'd feel any place else. I'm a live-in assistant here and more perks than most any place else I could be one. Lynn is better today so not only was God speaking through you with "words of wisdom" I've considered and I'm "mysteriously" considering and have considered. Another answered prayer so thanks for all the suggestions and all the prayers. MUCH APPRECIATED!

If I'd gotten credit for my home renovations series I shared on question #46 of my Extreme Makeover Application right down to sponsor, SEARS, I said thanked me for my "creative ideas" and "loyalty". And that loyalty been reciprocated with modest energy efficient cottage in my home town, I requested if idea used, and an Extreme Makeover instead of just my idea used and my application 86'd. I wouldn't be in this position. Life isn't perfect. My idea helps a lot of people for, as i said, the best way to invest in America is to invest in Americans. And what good is an idea if not shared. I'd rather share and WE all benefit.

Yes, "it did work" and lots of your ideas are "mysteriously" in progress. As the Navy says, "Loose lips sink ships" so I better button down the hatches with the golden rule since post I asked to be deleted wasn't. Well, and just since a golden rule.

Hugs and prayers and love

It seems to me that someone told me that the births and deaths were recorded in the family bible. I'm sure it was my aunt that told me, dad's side of the family is from Germany.

Hi Sea

Quote From: yesyoucan

Oopsies, I titled my post I was depressed and after I talked myself through it I wasn't and forgot to change title bar.

I don't know if you saw my post. Yet, say if Lynn decided he wants me to leave either because I've considered leaving so much since feel threatened (when he jerks rug out from under me so I respect "his house") or because he really would just like me to leave.

It would be sad if he really wants me to stay and just gets so mad he says that, as his mom says, because it has made me so insecure that I'm always thinking I'd feel more secure with my own place.

Sort of just like as Dr. Phil says, "We create what we fear." He gets really mad then fears I'll leave so just adds that "Go" to end of his anger so he has control of when I do. I get really sad and insecure so begin looking for another place in case he gets really mad and doesn't get over being mad so I'm not sitting on the curb. Reacting instead of responding.

I know that has nothing to do with your coffee date. I just thought it might take your mind off of stressing about it to see me stressing like it did me reading your post. LOLz

Hey you... Do what is best for you. Most times when we don't know what is going to happen doesn't mean won't go well.

Maybe you just needed to feel some control saying "good-bye" or maybe a hundred scenarios just like I was enumerating. And still could be something totally different than everything we've considered.

Lots of things we just have to hope for the best and plan for the worst yet not lose hope in the process. If keeping in touch with her will jeopardize your progress... not worth it.

Believe she's strong enough to be friends or for your friendship to end either/or. I have found when I have faith in a person to be my friend or make it if we choose no longer to be friends that that faith helps me and whoever other person is to do just that. Think about it.

What is best for Suzanne? That's who you'll be going home with. That's the Suzanne all of us "and" your family are so proud of. The one with enough confidence to say she's personable because you are.

You have a lot of grace Suzanne and are witty and have gained lots of focus broadening your horizons. Don't feel guilty because you have gained clarity and focus in your life. After all, you're our number one photographer here. It had to happen. It was just a matter of time and a lot of effort on your part. She'll have to put forth the same effort you did to make progress. You can't do it for her and she couldn't do it for you. I hope she can and i think she can. Now, she needs to think she can. Yet what a lovely answered prayer that you ARE doing well, Suzanne. "Thank you God." Great to see you.

Hugs and prayers to you and all. SEA
Boy, I just read your post about Lynn.  Whew-you have a lot going on!  I wish I knew what to tell you.  I guess basically, you have to decide with your living arrangements on the whole are making you happy (other than little arguments) or if they are causing you stress.  I always thought that you still lived with each other partly for financial reasons but also partly for companionship.  I didn't realize he could be so difficult.  A must be a guy thing-taking out bad moods on whoever doesn't deserve it because my husband has become a pro at it lately.

We have just not been getting along very well these days.  It seems good for a while but now it 's like if one little thing annoys either one of us, it blows up into something bigger where we, for the most part, won't talk for days.  That's our status right now, actually.

I don't want to go on about me though since you are the one having an especially hard time right now.  One thing I could say is that it's not worth sticking around with someone if they are going to have mood swings all the time where they either attack you or are nice to you at their whim.  It gives them all the power and I know it doesn't make me/us feel better.

I am still married and we have kids together.  And for a long time, it seemed like we finally 'mellowed' and fell into a comfortable pattern.  Apparently, nothing is forever and I'm stuck getting aggravated with him all the time.

Since you don't have kids to think about or anything.  You can think solely about yourself.  If you can make a plan that puts you in a happier place, I say go for it.  It's one thing to compromise in a relationship but to be someone's punching bag, well, no one deserves that and it's no way to live.

Well, that's about the best I could come up with, I suppose.  I'm sure there are many other view points as well so you just have to choose what sounds best to you.

As you can see, everyone here wants to be there for you.

As for my coffee date.....

It went okay, I guess.  I was quite nervous to see her (as you could tell) and when she showed up, we hugged and then just looked at each other awkwardly for a second.  We then went in and got our coffee/tea and took them to an outside table.

She started out by saying, that first, she wants to apologize for any hurt or pain that her behavior caused me.  I asked her if she was doing one of the 12 steps and she said, yes, in a way.  Then, she told me all that had been going on with her for months and months-and months and I, in turn, let her know how I felt all this time after she dropped out of sight and briefly teared up for a minute (embarrassing!)  I couldn't really tell if she teared up or not but I could tell she really felt sorry.

She said that her drinking and bulimia had gotten way out of control and that she basically just dropped out of everything.  She had done a couple of short hospital stints until she finally was in a hospital recently for around 4 weeks.  She just got home a few weeks ago, or so.  She says she's very foggy about time frames and when things happened.  She told me that at this hospital, they gave her electric shock treatment (which shocked me!) and that it has helped her tremendously.  She says she's not sure of how it works, that it has something to do with your brain chemicals??  Though she still struggles, she seemed pretty animated, had make up on and honestly (as I told her) the haunted look she had in her eyes was not there.  She was super thin but not to the point of being scary.  She said that she's not trying to lose weight anymore and that she hasn't had a scale for a long, long time.  That is real progress for her.

She knows that I am skittish where I'm afraid that if I get too close to her and she falls again, I'll feel hurt and betrayed all over again.  I could keep going because there's so much to tell but my eyes and fingers won't last that long!

To sum it up, I made sure she knew that for a long time, I felt that I was always trying to embrace our friendship and she wasn't.  She said that is was all because of her sickness.  I told her that I wanted her to be assertive in trying to get us together to either hang out or to go out and do something and that I had to see that she would follow through with the plans.  I asked her if she knew why I needed this and she said she did.  I told her that I needed to feel special (basically after feeling insignificant).  She seems to understand and seems like she might be up to the 'task' though she is still struggling with her issues.

I guess time will tell and I'll just have to keep reminding myself to be careful.

We may see Mama Mia together soon.  I actually already saw it with my sister, niece and my girls and we all loved it.  Meryl Streep can really sing!  Is there nothing she can't do?!

Well, I guess that's about it.  I have to put up some laundry.

I hope things perk up on your end and if they don't, I hope you take care of yourself first, and foremost.

Hugs
:) Suzanne

Hi catluv1 aka Suzanne

Thanks for your input. You made a lot of good points.

I'm glad your coffee/tea date with your friend went well. I've heard that often weight issues have to do with feeling control, through food or lack of, so I think that's wise of you to ask her to just contact you giving her control.

That movie "Mama Mia" looked like a fun movie. When "Places in the Heart," with Danny Glover and Sally Field, came out I took a couple of people PLUS went on my own. I don't think just for the popcorn. LOLz Yet sure was good.

It was the first movie my grandmother had been to in over 20 years and she had a wonderful time. I think I enjoyed her excitement as much as the movie. She was like a teenager and I guess about 80 or so then. So, there's movies I could watch twice or more, too.

I took up to Linda, at Destiny's, a duncan phyfe gossip telephone chair, similar to an old school desk, where you can lift seat to put telephone book inside. A child's Adirondack lawn chair and another vintage or antique children's chair. Plus, a very old photo in equally old frame that could be quite valuable. An old polaroid camera in good condition. Oh, and an old wood frame six pane window. Linda loved everything. I still have lots of items to place. I knew that Linda would know the items valuable whereas a thrift store might not. So that's one less car load of items to do something with.

All from curb side shopping hand painted prayer chair phase of mine since I'm getting low on acrylic paints so I hadn't painted yet. Linda said she's leaving vintage or antique children's chair unpainted and Adirondack child's lawn chair is in good condition.

Things seem better here today and Lynn is at a meeting with another client WAY across town on the other side of Dallas, SW. He said that client that stressed him so badly with last minute job, since does that so often, he was going to write to and say he wouldn't do work for him anymore.

I don't know why Lynn doesn't take up the E-bay as computer savvy as he is with as much as I find since he has gotten so tired of his work. He seemed so excited when he was going to do E-bay yet doesn't want me to do because he plans to do.

We ladies can relate with being tired with same old, same old household chores etc. I guess same old same old anything gets tiresome. A man over the other day said he'd get his friend to sell some items and give us 70 or 80 percent yet Lynn said he was going to do it himself.

Three items in living room Lynn is deciding if he wants that we found curbside shopping together while out and about. All look in good condition and electronic items. So far electronic items I've gotten Lynn work. One complicated items works really, really well that he hooked up to a tiny personal CD player that OMG sounds like a band live in person. I think lots of people are technologically challenged and get items then never figure out how to use and eventually set out for City Pickup.

Oh well to condense what is growing into a novella... Things are better. Thank God and your and everyone's prayers and moral support and excellent suggestions. Thank you Suzanne.

I hope this didn't time out. A solicitor came to the door and I was hoping Dr. Phil or Oprah Show. Plus, the phone rang so I sprint through the house hoping the same. Lynn was shocked when finally the Dr. Phil Show called since I'm always asking, "Is that Oprah or Dr. Phil". However, they haven't gotten back in touch with after getting DVD's so I guess that was that. When I'm ninety I'll probably be rushing to door with my cane in case its Dr. Phil or Oprah Show folks. LOLz
