It is interesting...

Dubai wants to add on , another air lift, in their indoor ski resort, so gas prices need to go up.

We are all doing a fine job, taking care of the other countries. So, go buy ya a SUV , already !

I voted for President Clinton because Al Gore became his Vice Presidential Candidate and had such a strong stance on the environment. We needed to begin conserving energy in the 80's scientists said. Recycling should be mandatory. We should be good stewards of the earth and one another. Ironically, conservation was my school paper in sixth grade. Ironically, too, the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans was water conservation then New Orleans flooded in 2005. That is fascinating about Dubai. I'd never heard of before. I am into alternative fuel such as: E85, public transporation, walking, mandatory reduction in vehicle size, more responsible requirements for population growth (such as proof of insurance and mandatory parenting classes before having children since children are more valuable than cars), mandatory recycling, cessation in government pork belly projects and waste, etc. etc. etc. The world needs another air lift (as in cleaner air) which means being good stewards of the earth instead of producing and producing and producing...we need to nurture, nurture, nurture. Oh well, that's what your post made me think of. I agree that we have become the "Mommi Dearest" Nation that often neglects her own while helping other countries. Thanks for mentioning Dubai. Have a GREAT weekend. Nice to see you again. Best wishes, SEA

I hope you ALL have been having a good day.  Just wanted to say I had the pleasure of holding a beautiful child.  A child of only three weeks.  Beautiful.  He just would coo when I held him.  I was looking at him in amazement.  Such a beautiful child.  Wow!!!!!

Depression

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgery. As she lay her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest.

After a moment or two, the vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm so sorry, Cuddles has passed away."

The distressed owner wailed, "Are you sure?

"Yes, I am sure. The duck is dead," he replied.

"How can you be so sure," she protested.

"I mean, you haven't done any testing on him
or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."

The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room,

and returned a few moments later with a
black Labrador Retriever.

as the duck's owner looked on in amazement,

The dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws
on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top
to bottom. He then looked at the vet with sad eyes

and shook his head.

The vet patted the dog and took it out, and returned a few moments later with a beautiful cat.
The cat jumped up on the table and also sniffed
delicately at the bird. The cat sat back on its

haunches, shook its head, meowed softly
and strolled out of the room.

The vet looked at the woman and said,

"I'm sorry, but as I said, this is
most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck."

Then the vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a

few keys and produced a bill which
he handed to the woman.

The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$150!",

she cried, "$150 just to tell me my
duck is dead?!!"

The vet shrugged. "I'm sorry. If you'd taken my

word for it, the bill would have been only $20,
but what with the

Lab Report and the Cat Scan...."

I'm doing pretty good I guess.  I've been a bit busier lately and I also have to watch out for my eye-strain..so I've been on here a little less.

Feel free to hog the board!  I like reading your posts!

I went and saw my 3 week old grandson for the first time.  He is the son from my husbands daughter.  (my step daughter).  He is a beautiful healthy baby.  I held this beautiful child and he would coo.  My gosh.  My youngest "baby" just turned 19. How quickly we forget.  Heck, I kept thinking my grandson was so small. Both of my children were even smaller.  When hubby and I passed our grandson to each other, we both kept saying, "Do you have him".   "Is he in your arms right?".  "You got him.....right?".  My son in law just laughed and said that they do it also.  Heck, you don't want to drop them.  LOL  He is beautiful.  It was a joy to hold a new member of just not the family, but a new member of the world.  Beautiful child and wonderful addition to our world.

Hi there!!!!

We are all doing a fine job, taking care of the other countries. So, go buy ya a SUV , already !

I hear ya on the SUV's.   We bought a Nissan Sentra last year and average about 34 mpg on the highway.  We average 30 mpg in the city.  I see these big SUV'S and they get maybe 18 mpg in the highway.  How in the heck can one afford gas?  My car will fit 5 people.  Yep, it might get tight, but, it will fit 5.  If there are three kids in the back, it will be comfortable.  I know people who spend about $80.00 per week to fill their PU.  Not me.  No way.  I could never afford that.  Heck.  It is crazy.

For heat in the winter, we use a wood pellet stove.  There is no way would could afford baseboard heat.  For extra warmth in the winter in the back room, we use a portable radiator heater.  It does just fine.  We also worked with our electric company and did a plan that you pay the same amount each month.  You have to be with them at least one year prior so they can adjust.  If, you start to use less, it gets adjusted later.

I didn't know about Dubai and what they want to add on.  I have a good friend in Afghanistan who was in Dubai for a bit prior.  He said it is very expensive.  It is a beautiful rich place, but so very expensive.  He tells me that every day over there, he either sees a car bomb or hears one.  I pray he makes it home alive and in one piece.  He is a father of three and a good man and good friend.

Hi Sea

Quote From: yesyoucan

Sweet dreams and blessed every days to you and All... (((HUGs))) SEA

I'm glad you liked my picture.

I hope your day today is a little bit less shall we say 'eventful' than yesterday?!  You know me.  If any of my kitties were ever at risk-I'd go ballistic!

Of course today may be a little eventful around here because my cats are stalking a mouse!  I saw it run across my kitchen this morning!  Please....!!  Get me out of here!  I can't believe how many mice we've had this past winter!  Of course now it's nearly summer but it's been a cold morning.  Maybe they're (the mice) getting wimpy and have to run for cover with just a little chill in the air!  lol

'K's other daughter is here today.  I brought her older one that slept over last night to the soccer field because my younger one had a game this morning and so did she.  My daughter's was earlier though so we came home earlier.  'K' dropped off her younger one here at the house before heading off to the soccer field and of course stayed in her car.   Then again, before this whole thing happened, she usually stayed in her car with these things too.  I would almost always get out to go in and say hi to her unless I was in a rush.  Of course she was in a rush today but I'm pretty sure she would've taken off pretty quickly anyway!

I wish there was someway to openly define our boundaries with each other (like at least saying hello) because it's going to be very uncomfortable avoiding each other completely with out daughters hanging out.  I don't feel that I can confront her in front of the kids of course..so I don't know what to do.

I've thought about trying to call or stop by her place but since she so vehemently cut off all our ties, I don't know that that would be a good idea.  I am not good at handling a 'limbo' situation!

Anyway, I hope you have a nice weekend ahead.  I have to do wash today and have to try to straighten while hopefully avoiding the mouse!   My husband is working today but not tomorrow so I'm not sure of what we're going to do then.

Guess that's it for now..Have a good one!

:) Suzanne
