(Original Air Date: 09/20/06) Have you ever wanted revenge on an ex-lover? How far would you go? First, look inside a legal battle that has been brewing all summer. Tasha, creator of the Web site DontDateHimGirl.com, says her site is a public forum for women to share their dating experiences and tell the "truth" about their exes. Todd says false information about him was posted on Tasha's site, and he thinks she should be liable for the negative posts. He has filed a lawsuit against her and two of the women who posted. When they face off for the first time, who does Dr. Phil think is right? Then, Ashley found out her boyfriend, Corey, had cheated on her three times during their 10-month relationship. Now, she says she wants to get revenge by exposing him to the world. So why did she recently call Corey and beg for sex? And, Corey comes clean with Ashley and tells her how he really feels. Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

freedom of speech

we live in America-like dr phil said, there are tabloids that write about him everyday, is he going to sue all of them,

this egotistical attorney is not going to win-he's fighting a losing battle with the first amendment freedom of speech and tasha's right, she didn't AUTHOR the posting

he needs to move on, get over it, no employer is not going to hire him because of some posting they got from a google website on dontdatehim.com-they won't hire him b/c he's not QUALIFIED-and he might be great attorney and in America, you can find an attorney to sue for anything-whether its frivilous or not=

I hope Tasha gets her attorney fees paid from him b/c she has to legally fight this ridiculous lawsuit

Question: did you read any previous posts? As an owner and operator of a site designed by you, you have a resposibility to MONITOR them whether you AUTHORED them or not.

Not sure, maybe we live in different places but HEADHUNTERS here, will not hire you based on findings, whether true or not, sad but true! For the people who think that employers don't make judgement calls based off internet findings, many do and this I know for a FACT!!

Wow...seems to be many scorned women here, you truly do set yourself apart by your posts:)

Todd is right!

I think after these people grow-up they wont even care if they get dumped. All these LADYS should get on with there lives and quite wineing.Even if you tell other girls what he did they will still date him if they want, and maybe when he finds the ONE he will settle down. But it is up to thoes girls. Leve the guy alone and let him find the girl of his dreams. You have to think of his family too.

Specifically Speaking...and not in General

I'd just like to speak specifically about this man Todd and this case that he's claiming is causing him trouble and denying him happiness.

First of all, I'd like to address Dr.Phils question about being able to acknowledge the pain that this may have caused this man. It is very clear that this/these postings have caused this man Todd some pain. Whether or not they've actually caused him enough pain and sufferening that he's taking claim to is in question. I believe that these postings were stupid, un-noticeable, and easily deniable [as i saw no picture posted with his name]. Moreover, since he was smart enough to "Hire a private investegator" and find out who these women are/were then he should have gone after them to take these postings down themselves. If he is the upstanding man that he claims to be then these women would have probably done so and his name would not be publicized as it is now all over in the name of "defame".

Secondly, I see nothing wrong with this site. I've seen women do way worse things to get revenge. Venting on a website on the internet is a form of justice...hahahah I would like to see it used in a court of law as punishment. I think defining the term cheating and breaking it down is the true heartache here. If cheating were assigned the equivalent of a misdemeanor then this website would be of the like of sites which posts sex offenders in your area for your information. I believe in free domain when it comes to the internet. However, boundaries should be drawn so that it is fair to both sides. All in all, in this case this dude just validated the nature of these "untrue" and "ridiculous" statements by making such a big deal about them and bringing the nations attention to it and himself. Before today I had NEVER heard of him nor of this website. I was actually thinking of making such a website myself [although nothing ever came of the site because i didn't think people would concur lol boy was i wrong]. Since there are so many dating websties on the internet it would only balance the planet if the complete opposite existed as well lol haha Seriously :P

All in all, I don't believe that this man should get any money from this. He brought a large amount of the negative unecessary attention on himself. I think that the website should just be ordered to take down the statments which are PROVEN to speak specifically of him and if he feels he can't stop crying after the statements are removed then shall his picture be posted and a few comments of praise be written about him on the same site suggesting that he's a great guy after all ahahhaha :T

Take care all

Revenge of the exes

I found that revenge is not as sweet as it sounds.  You make yourself sick with hate, anger and jealousy.  Who suffers?  certainly not the exe because s/he couldn't care less what you think or do anymore.  The only person you can change is yourself and how you react to and behave in the situation.  The best way to gain that revenge is to get on with your life and move on, don't wallow in self-pity, because it serves no purpose other than make you miserable while the exe is out having fun.

no...

Yeah, maybe if you're flipping burgers!
In ALL situations.  I'm not talking about a criminal record.  If you DO a background check, i hope you use valid sources like a police department.  No one cares who you cheated on, as long as you do a job.

I am responsible....

Quote From: kukkla7

Yeah, everyone's view on responsibility obviously varies but here's my opinion based not only on how I was raised but how I run my business as well...

I own and operate a website, I also have control of another site, in both, I am responsible for reading and determining what I think is appropriate for the threads. No names, no address', no slander, no threats, no assumptions, no pics etc...If it's there, I delete it and PM the poster and notify them that their privileges on the site will be revoked if rules are not respected and people's personal life, whether true or not, is posted PERIOD.

Why I find Tasha so responsible whether Todd did such things, is simply she owns and runs that site, she has a responsibility to monitor it and if must, edit it.

Why is it on this site, before I send you this message it will be reviewed before it is allowed to be posted in this thread? It's b/c the owner of this site/forum is responsible. What's so  scary to me, beyond anything else, is that their are some pretty scary people out there in this world, many women/men and many crazy enough to go to infinite lengths to destroy people's lives beyond fixing. What if it got so bad for Todd, that he committed suicide b/c of the loss of job, respect and whatever else this may have caused (I'm not saying he looks like he's at that point but ya never know do you?) Based on possibility of worst case scenario, Tasha's responsibility should kick in and do what's DECENT; like any other decent human being....oh crap I forgot...people seem to have been born into this world lately with the lack of decency!

I was also raised with the belief "treat people the way you want to be treated" and that revenge only stops you from moving forward in life and truly enjoying what has been given to you.

I'm so scared for my children and what will be when I'm older based on people's lack of respect now and what people are capable of.....what will be on the web in twenty years? Scary eh?

You want to be responsible? Open a therapeutic class for hurt, heartbroken women/men where it's not viewed by everyone including children who may accidentally come across it.  My opinion though :)

Yes, I'm responsible thanks.  But i don't own or operate a website, either.

I agree that its a moral/ethical responsibility to edit these posts.  Obviosly you'd want to. I agree that she SHOULD edit it.

But does the law REQUIRE her to?  Does anyone know the laws regarding websites?  I'm just thinking out of the box here to see if she is indeed liable for this.

Responsible

I am having a hard time with this one. On one aspect I agree with her but on another I agree with Todd. I believe that maybe she should  have her web site designed so that if you post something that is not true then the person posting it can be held responsible.

Let's stop and think about what happens when someone posts something that is not true... it can ruin their life over something not true. Think about it this way. You go on a date, you fall head over heels for this guy... he is not feeling the same way. He breaks up with you and you go on the site and post untrue things about him. It could ruin his life, his career and any further relationships... come on how fair is that. Would you like that to happen to you.

If what was posted about Todd being not true look at what it could do to him... he's a lawyer and it could ruin his career.

I believe that any web site should have someway to track the person who post's and hold them responsible for faults posting. One problem I believe is that people do not get to know the person who they are dating good enought before believing what they are saying and trust the person way to soon. Let's use common sense when dating.

This all boils down to weather or not what is being posted true or false. So let's hold these web site owner responsible. If they want to make money by creating these websites than that is the chance they are taking. It would just be like me and my family. My husband is an owner of a transport truck and if we hired a driver for the truck and he got into an accident then as owner of the truck we are responsible for damages or lawsuits. So as an owner of a truck we are responsible for the rig then website owners should be held responsible
