(Original Air Date: 10/23/06) Dr. Phil conducts a groundbreaking social experiment. Six individuals from different walks of life, with different judgments and prejudices live under the same roof in an attempt to break down the walls of hatred and intolerance. Gary, 26, is a white supremacist who hates all people of other races. B., 58, is an African-American woman who thinks all white people are "ignorant sociopaths." Staci, 22, is a thin woman who thinks obese people are "disgusting blobs" and not people at all. John, 24, is over 600 pounds and hates skinny people. Christina, 22, believes all homosexuals are sinners. Tessa, 19, is a lesbian who hates straight people. Dr. Phil puts them to the test with assignments that force them to work together with their adversary. It doesn’t take long for hostility to break out, sending Dr. Phil over to the house, saying, “This has got to stop.” Will these guests learn acceptance, or turn on each other? Share your thoughts here.

Good grief! Do you think your ancestors also had stars on their bellies that made them "better" than all the other sneetches?

Why is it such a horrifying thought that human life originated in Africa? Seriously, why does it matter?

This is absolutely the best response ever.  I love it.

We should be quoting Dr. Seuss, people.

When I saw what the new topic was this week on Dr.PHil it made me so sad. I wish we could all just get along, and that there didn't have to be such anger and hatred towards people. My father was slightly prejudiced against black people (would say the "n" word, make comments about blacks...not that he knew any!) But my two sisters and I are not like that at all. I just don't see how someone can look at a race of people, or at overweight(or thin) people and say, you are all like x,y and z and I hate you, and furthermore, I am going to raise my kids to hate you too. The whole idea of not only hating yourself but raising your kids like that fills me with despair. We are never going to be able to rise above our troubles as a nation, as a people and as the human race if we don't start seeing that people are people. There are good and bad in every race, in every sexual orientation.
I think the "house of hatred" is a great idea.  At the beginning, only one person in the house had a hostile attitude about over weight people.  Now they all seem to be against him.  I would love to see one person in the house, reach out to him instead of jumping on the band wagon.  I am pretty sure I heard him say "I am too big to fit in the shower".  If he is, maybe someone, privately could help him wash up and offer to help him.  I am sure he can't reach all areas of his body.  There is a swimming pool.  Others could suggest all go swimming and encourage him to join them.  (Too bad that wasn't done before the bad mouthing began. ) Others could have helped him with his chores as I am sure it is far more difficult for him to do chores I do mean help, not do everything for him.  They could find ways for him to help them in return.  Depression can also affect his hygiene, as I think someone else has mentioned.  It would be wonderful if someone would be interested in other aspects of who he is.
These people all are so angry that they can't think of helping others.  Hopefully they will start to catch on.  Understanding how each other feels should eventually lead to better things.

Gary!

What is up with you? Don't you realise, that unless you are Native American, you are just as much from immigrant stock as any colored person in this country. The only difference being that your forfathers came here of their own free will, not dragged here in chains!

Also, you are living in a nation that was founded on genocide, thousand upon thousand of Native Americans were slaughtered trying to protect their homeland from invaders. - The same invaders who brought slaves from Africa to do the hard work for them.

Still feeling superior?

By the way. I am White and English living in the US.

The eyes of the heart

To all the people in the House of Hatred, I wish that you start seeing with the eyes of your heart.  These eyes go beyond color, shape and sexual orientation...they see the spirit of the person in front of you and will help you understand the journey that has made them who they are!

Good luck to you all.

There is Lot of talk about John and his lack of a shower. Has anyone thought of telling him to at least take a swim ? I'm sure someone cleans the pool , it also has chemicals in it . Won't take the place of soap and water . But one out of two is a start.

Then they can all get back to what they are there for.

That's what I was thinking! Smelling like a pool is better than smelling like BO.

Your right there are somethings we just can't seem to get past, but I have never been told, nor was I led to believe racism didn't exist.  I grew up in the South of Louisiana Ghettos! and being  (what society claims I am) white and female, I came across ALOT of racism from black people.   I was jumped four different times,  all four times it was two girls on me, and all four times it was different girls!   I didn't deserve this but I was one of only two white girls in my neighborhood and was treated very badly.   The thing is, the other children (because we were in our early teens at the time) had no reason to jump me except that I was white.  I have always tried to get along with everyone, and even though these things took place (along with the others if you want to take time to read my past post) I do not hold it against all black people.  It was because they were not educated properly, especially in our schools down here, and they had hate and anger towards all whites because most are better off still, and even I have went through my hate and anger period of hating all rich people.  Of course I am over that now.! : }   And it is sad to know your  husband lost his job because of that, but it just proves people just are uneducated or where taught to be that way.  It is a learned behavior (unlike being Gay which is not learned nor is it a choice)  I knew a white security officer whom was married to a black  woman and everybody just loved him to death!  He was one of the most intelligent man I ever met, and his wife was extremely intelligent.  She had a great job pulling in thousands of dollars a month and he only worked (because he was old and had retired from his previous job) to give him something to do when she wasn't there.  Bravo to you in your  struggles!!  Brightest blessings

Oh and I wanted to say that for those who are new to these boards, there are religion threads here. Under "Current Events" there are a few places to discuss other issues, Gay Marriage, Evolution/Creationism, Religion and there are community boards there that are not debate oriented like Christian Tea Party, Faithful Friends and the Paganism board.
