(Original Air Date: 10/23/06) Dr. Phil conducts a groundbreaking social experiment. Six individuals from different walks of life, with different judgments and prejudices live under the same roof in an attempt to break down the walls of hatred and intolerance. Gary, 26, is a white supremacist who hates all people of other races. B., 58, is an African-American woman who thinks all white people are "ignorant sociopaths." Staci, 22, is a thin woman who thinks obese people are "disgusting blobs" and not people at all. John, 24, is over 600 pounds and hates skinny people. Christina, 22, believes all homosexuals are sinners. Tessa, 19, is a lesbian who hates straight people. Dr. Phil puts them to the test with assignments that force them to work together with their adversary. It doesn’t take long for hostility to break out, sending Dr. Phil over to the house, saying, “This has got to stop.” Will these guests learn acceptance, or turn on each other? Share your thoughts here.

Disabled too; yet in rehabilitation with State

Quote From: soulangel

Zowza.....

All of us have some hidden agenda towards a certain type of person or lifestyle to some extent - whether we want to admit it or not.

This should open everyone's eyes to just how it sounds and better yet effects people.

Bravo for Dr. Phil for taking it out of the closet. Many people live with this type of behaviour in their face( or worse behind their back) at some time or another.

As someone who is on government assistance and actively seeking a job - I get frustrated when I am told that people who "collect' or on the government payroll are just plain lazy and working the system.

I want a job where I can make ends meet and have some savings - so I don't have to go on the system again! i want what everyone else wants - security, savings, pride in a job well done and recognition for my skills and expertise - Not a hand -out!

I am disabled (legally blind - low vision) and know I have not gotten a job because of my disability and someone's perception and view of "who I am".....and what I was capable of.

Oops I will get off my soap box...discrimination of any kind shouldn't be tolerated.

GO Dr. Phil - GO!  Bravo!

Cheers!

Mini

I am disabled from domestic violence and part of the wonderful system also.  If you are on SSI or SSDI, you automatically qualify for State Vocational Rehabilitation.  Me, I get a nonservice connected disability because I am a Vietnam Veteran.  I chose to go to IUPUI and am getting a 4.0 and a college education paid for by the State.  Do not get discouraged and check into rehabilitation for the end result is well worth the time I am spending getting this education and bachelors degree.  Yes, the case workers look at us as less than type of people and make more road blocks than necessary.  Yet, I finally said enough and have gone to the top stating the facts of my treatment.  Management is taking notice and changes are happening.  Stand tall and remember, you are worth it and are number 1 no matter what anyone else says.

Blessings to you and yours.

Well stated

Quote From: mwgotin

I am appalled and I can't seem to get away from the thoughts.  I have NEVER been racist or judgmental and I don't understand the mentality.  I am trying to raise my children to be the same but it is very hard.  Most people seem to have an opinion about others.  I really try to live my life the best that I can and leave others to try for the same.  I feel sorry for people who judge because I also believe in karma and their time will come.  Judgments don't hurt me because I love me but they do affect our world and what we all have to live with.  For those of you who feel as I do, don't give up.  I believe that we will make a difference in tolerance for others, even if it is just one person at a time....  I already have people letting me know that I've made that impact.
Your quote was well stated and I could not have said it better if I wrote it myself.  Love the outlook.  Thanks for the great outlook.

Question

Quote From: lind24

American Indians were here, IN THIS COUNTRY, a long long long time.

It belonged to THEM and they were civilized.

Yet, they still make the least amount of fuss and don't go overboard in trying to

claim it!  They seem to be selfless and content with just a small amount of land.

WHERE IN THE WORLD DO THE REST OF US GET THIS IDEA THAT "MY

PEOPLE WERE HERE, FIRST, THIS IS "MY" COUNTRY..."

Who, from this message board came over here as an explorer to claim this free world?

Get to know a person so you may accept them as they are.  Judge ye not and ye shall not be judged.  Sick people do sick things.  It is an individuals choice if they choose to associate with a person or not.  God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Just food for thought.

Thanks

Quote From: loreleimb

I know that the research shows that we all started out in Africa, which wold mean that we are all brothers and sisters under the skin and we are all connected.  If that heritage is so important to B, and she really understood the meaning of it, she would have to admit that white people are just as closely related to her as black people are.  Why would she make that point and then continue to hate white people.  B is just another member of the "Afrocentrism club" and she is no better than a KKK member.  Hate is hate.

Thanks for the insight about Africa.  I enjoyed the reading.  Yet, I found your comments to be judgemental and without having all of the facts regarding the reasons the individuals in the Dr. Phil house have the issues they do, I feel you are out of line.

This makes me mad!

I think that all 6 of these people are horrible! i am 16 years old almost 17 and even i have the sence to treat everyone with respect.  No one should ever act this way. Its disgusting!!  These people are very stereotypical. I wish some one would knock so sence into these people because thy need some. IF they havent even met these people how can the judge them. Not all people are the same. It is completely stupid. I am 16 and compared to them i am the adult and they are the children!

about the show today

I watched the show today.. I have to say that is completely appauling.. They are all wrong in one way or another and should learn acceptance and respect.  its not about color, race, creed, sexuality .. if there were less people like them in the world and more people who accepted and respected others then the world would be more peaceful.

I don't hate any group of people. there is good in bad in everyone and its not gender or racial based its more of an individual thing than anything else.

we need to have less hate in the world and more love and peace but because of people like them there will not be. It is sad the way people are so full of hate..  none of those peopel in the house realize how badly their hatred affects their own lives and people around them.

Did it ever occur to any of them that  the reason people come off bad to them is because they have bad attitudes themselves it isn't because they are black, or white or heavy or gay its themselves and what they portray to people?

if they were comfortable with themselves they wouldn't hate so much.  I guess I don't understand how people can be so full of hate towards a race or sexuality.   the world needs more care and compassion.  We are all equal in Gods eyes . we all belong here.  All of us were put here for a reason whether we know it or not .

I will say what i seen today on the show makes me cringe.. they all have a problem and all should accept their problem and work on changing it.   they should try to be more fair and look at each person as an individual being instead of seeing a color or sexual preference or thin or fat.  if you took that away and it was just  the spirit they would find that they are all alike in one way or another.

You should never hate anyone.. I feel sorry for them they are all ignorant to hate one another..  I really hope this helps them.

God bless

jenni

Todays Show

This show is sad because it shows the hard truth. I feel all the individuals are entitled to their opinion and all have good reasons. However Ido not feel any sympathy for John. I also think Staci is exactly right and she is not being shallow at all. They all had a chance to say the things they wanted to say and John proved every stereotypical idea one has on obesity. He does not want help he wants pity and I think he should leave the house! The homophobe and the lesbian and getting along fine. The two fighting over race, they are handling themselves very well, but that is a battle that wil never end.

06/18 The Dr. Phil House: House of Hatred

I found 2days show very amusin. Im not tryin 2 take sides but it was funny how john though every1 was pickin on him. but he had the nerve 2 call the black lady our of her race. At this point not trynna be mean (just tellin it like it is) but i dnt feel srry 4 any of them. Also i found it ironic cuz i could have swore in the beginning john said he doesnt judge ppl. but callin the lady out of her race thats judging 2 me. i mean if theres another meanin 4 judging other then that some1 please speak. Also i think the girl who diesnt like fat ppl blew it out of proportion when the black lady asked her 2 clean up after herself. i commence Dr. Phil on the good work hes doin. and i hope he keeps it up. I cnt wait till the next episode of house of hatred.

ANGRY

The show today sure made me angry.  It’s so hard for me to believe that someone would judge someone without even getting to know them.  That has to be one of my biggest pet peeves in life is people that assume because i'm white that i'm raciest against them or because i'm thin I don't like fat people and etc.  I worked in a retail store at one time and was accused of being raciest because the store didn't have an African American doll on the shelf.  Well it happened to be around Christmas time and they were all sold out.  I asked why she couldn't buy her daughter a white doll and she said "she couldn't have her daughter playing with a white doll; you wouldn't want your kid playing with an African American doll."  And who is being racist???  I don't have a problem with my kids playing with an African American doll!

I feel like sometimes people use the fact that they are white,  black, fat,  thin, straight, or gay as an excuse just to get there way!  Its soo easy just to pull out the your prejedust card just to get something you want. Why can't we all just get along!!!!

This is so stupid

I am seventeen years old. I am half black, a quarter mexican and a quarter white. I was watching doctor phil today and i noticed that B., as they call her is just paranoid. i dont believe a word she says. These issues are old and both B. and Gary need to move on. As for the girl who doesnt like fat people well instead of making fun of them help them. john just needs to get help. and for the other two...GET OVER IT. IT ISNT GOING TO CHANGE AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH EITHER ONE OF YOU. good grief people you call your self grown up and adults but your behaving like school children.
