(Original Air Date: 10/23/06) Dr. Phil conducts a groundbreaking social experiment. Six individuals from different walks of life, with different judgments and prejudices live under the same roof in an attempt to break down the walls of hatred and intolerance. Gary, 26, is a white supremacist who hates all people of other races. B., 58, is an African-American woman who thinks all white people are "ignorant sociopaths." Staci, 22, is a thin woman who thinks obese people are "disgusting blobs" and not people at all. John, 24, is over 600 pounds and hates skinny people. Christina, 22, believes all homosexuals are sinners. Tessa, 19, is a lesbian who hates straight people. Dr. Phil puts them to the test with assignments that force them to work together with their adversary. It doesn’t take long for hostility to break out, sending Dr. Phil over to the house, saying, “This has got to stop.” Will these guests learn acceptance, or turn on each other? Share your thoughts here.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other

Quote From: indians

IYour'e exactly right, B is more racist than Gary!  B is so much a racist, that I think she rather die than have a WHITE person save her own life.  B is a very self-centered , " i refuse to forget the past racist ".  She needs to grow up and GET OVER IT!  Slavery has been outlawed B!
I don't think either of these hardheads is "more racist" than the other. I think they BOTH need to learn that  all races were created equal.

B, you don't have to forget the past, but you sure as heck need to quit living there so you can have a  future.  Who wants to die a bitter, hate-filled old woman?

Gary, knock off the heil Hitler white supremacy crap.  Hitler was a psychopathic coward who chickened out and killed  himself rather than face his accusers.

Both Gary and B are acting like common playground bullies who have to put someone else down to feel good about themselves.   By the time we are six most people have heard, "it takes all kinds to make a world."  Guess what -- it's true. There are a lot of six year olds acting a lot more mature than you two are right now.

10/23 The Dr. Phil House: House of Hatred

I wonder if people took all the energy and time they put into hate and hurting people and used it to solve the problems of hunger, poverty and the environment whether the world  would become a nicer place to live in. Just a thought.

love the person not what they do.

I don't think I have to accept what someone does, I can like or love people but hate what they do, and I don't think thats wrong.

we all have belief systems, and should respect the other person whether we agree with them or not, Ive heard it this way..."love the sinner not the sin"

now this don't mean everything you disagree with is a sin!  its the do unto others as you want them to do unto you attitude, and its responsibility...personal responsibility in the end.

Can't tell people to change

Quote From: awardcyw

It is so sad that there are enough people like this int he world to make this show necessary... it's time to grow up and stop bashing anyone that is different from you.... no matter their race, gender, weight , religion, sexual orientation, etc. etc. be nice to others.... why make your life and other people's lives so painful?
It is so ridiculous for all these people to waste their time and energy on being pigs to others. Use your energy constructively, volunteer, give time and energy to not-for-profit organization. Be a good person and dont start your day by thinking how much you hate someone.

I hope Dr. Phil can show these guests how off their rockers they are.

Yes, it is sad about all this hate and intolerance that is still goin' on. It's pretty rediculous. What's even sadder is that this kind of thing will continue, in my lifetime, in yours, my children, my grandchildren. This hate idea is so deeply imbedded, so extremely grounded within hateful people, they actually and sincerely believe that there is only one way of living--and that is their way! You just can't tell someone to be something that they are not  and they definitely are not gonna be something that they "don't" want to be.

Yes, it is sad, very sad. But, that is the reality. If GOD  is the maker of all things and people, then he must have made these people who love to hate for reasons still unknown to us who cannot tolerate hate and intolerance.

Me, I still have prejudices, but I'm learnin' to curtail them, quickly. I am GOD's  creature learning good, healthy habits. I'm teachin' those good, healty habits to my children, and to my grandchildren.

I can't change persons, places or things, but I certainly can try to encourage them to change. Hey, lets spread it around.   Peace

Idea for an experiment with the cast

I would like to see the cast go out into the community completely blindfolded.  Some of the things which they hate are visually based such as race and size.  Blind people can not tell from afar a person's race or size and sometimes the voice is not an accurate representation of the person's gender.  Could an experiment like this perhaps enlighten them as to how superficial their hatred is based?   People who have issues about various disabilities, need only walk a week in that disability to gain a greated understanding and compassion for the challenges of that particular disability.

10/23 The Dr. Phil House: House of Hatred

Quote From: witchysybil

Your right there are somethings we just can't seem to get past, but I have never been told, nor was I led to believe racism didn't exist.  I grew up in the South of Louisiana Ghettos! and being  (what society claims I am) white and female, I came across ALOT of racism from black people.   I was jumped four different times,  all four times it was two girls on me, and all four times it was different girls!   I didn't deserve this but I was one of only two white girls in my neighborhood and was treated very badly.   The thing is, the other children (because we were in our early teens at the time) had no reason to jump me except that I was white.  I have always tried to get along with everyone, and even though these things took place (along with the others if you want to take time to read my past post) I do not hold it against all black people.  It was because they were not educated properly, especially in our schools down here, and they had hate and anger towards all whites because most are better off still, and even I have went through my hate and anger period of hating all rich people.  Of course I am over that now.! :    And it is sad to know your  husband lost his job because of that, but it just proves people just are uneducated or where taught to be that way.  It is a learned behavior (unlike being Gay which is not learned nor is it a choice)  I knew a white security officer whom was married to a black  woman and everybody just loved him to death!  He was one of the most intelligent man I ever met, and his wife was extremely intelligent.  She had a great job pulling in thousands of dollars a month and he only worked (because he was old and had retired from his previous job) to give him something to do when she wasn't there.  Bravo to you in your  struggles!!  Brightest blessings
THANKS FOR ACTUALLY TAKING TIME OUT TO READ ABOUT MY LIFE, AND I AM TRULY SORRY THAT YOU HAD TO GO THROUGH THAT IT IS AMAZING THAT YOU DID NOT TURN OUT HATING OUR RACE BECAUSE OF WHAT A COUPLE OF PEOPLE DID. SO ON THEIR BEHALF I WILL APOLOGIZE TO YOU AND AT LEAST WE KNOW YOU WERE THE TRUE WOMAN OUT OF THE INCIDENT.

By his reaction to the others, I am led to believe John's obesity problem comes from the inside. He could have solved his immediate problem simply by taking a shower. There seems to be something else going on within. Maybe Dr. Phil can help him. My prayers are with John. Peace, Carrie

Love is tolerant?

Quote From: dieheer

I don't think I have to accept what someone does, I can like or love people but hate what they do, and I don't think thats wrong.

we all have belief systems, and should respect the other person whether we agree with them or not, Ive heard it this way..."love the sinner not the sin"

now this don't mean everything you disagree with is a sin!  its the do unto others as you want them to do unto you attitude, and its responsibility...personal responsibility in the end.

I really don't understand why Christians are labeled mean and hateful when they say the homosexual lifestyle is wrong. I agree that not accepting someone's behavior doesn't mean you hate them. Of course, there are Christians who act like jerks and go over the line resorting to namecalling, insults and downright cruelty, but please don't try to define Christianity by these misdeeds.

If you read carefully the stories of Jesus in the Bible, you will see that Jesus' love was not a tolerant love. Instead, Jesus loves people the way they are, but loves them too much to let them stay that way. After an encounter with Jesus, people's lives were changed forever. Take for example, Mary Magdalene. After Jesus saved her from being stoned to death, He did not tell her "Go back to your lovers now. "No, He said "Go and sin no more." She understood her lifestyle was sinful and didn't try to justify it to Him.

It seems to me that gays and lesbians automatically assume that Christians are hateful and intolerant. I know a few wonderful people who are living in a gay or lesbian relationship and I would like to be their friend. But when they know I don't accept their lifestyle they close the door to our friendship--not me. I guess they are afraid I will try to talk them out of their lifestyle, which I might. However, they do not hesitate to try to convince me that unless I accept their homosexuality I am mean and hateful. I don't think it is fair to be labeled hateful for standing by the moral standards taught in the Bible.

Quote From: hkandrsmom

I am asking because I am interested in reading where in the Bible it states that homosexuality is a sin. I am not doubting it states that. I know about Sodom and Gomorah (spelling?) I would just like to read for myself what God and/or the Bible states about homosexuailty.

Thank you for any information you pass my way. I honestly appreciate it.

These are some passages you can read to understand how God feels about homosexuality:

Romans 1:18-32  especially verses 26-27

I Corinthians 6:9-11

I Timothy 1:9-11

Hope this helps you.
