(Original Air Date: 10/26/06) Backstabbing takes many forms –- lying, spreading gossip and fueling nasty rumors. Dr. Phil’s guests say the ultimate betrayal didn’t come from a stranger, but from their own flesh and blood! Stacy accuses her younger sister, Christy, of being a traitor. She says Christy reported her and her husband to Child Protective Services for allegedly having child porn on the family computer! Christy sticks to her story, and vows to help put her sister and brother-in-law in jail. How far will she go? Stacy’s 16-year-old daughter claims her Aunt Christy is a liar, and says she’s ruining their family. Can these two sisters overcome the conflict between them, or is their relationship at the point of no return? Share your thoughts, join the discussion.

Find out what happened on the show.

Quote From: mi1blondee

my sister married a man they had 2 boys and 2 girls, as the children were in the home their father molested all of them, he was a sick individual, my sister found out and she would not do anything to him because of her religion.. to this day my sister did end up divorcing him and he is remarried with 3 small children and he is continuing his same life style and no one can do any thing about it because he has moved to mexico.my sister protected him because she had no means of supporting their children with out his income.....and this lady has nine children maybe she is covering up for him also.
I agree.  Good point.  It is possible that's why she is supporting him.  I can't help but note he wasn't on the show and he hasn't agreed to a lie detector test!

At least your sister divorced him.  That's more than alot of people would do.   Good for her!

Why no polygraph b4 the show? Where's husband?

Quote From: juspasnthru

This particular show just left a bit of a bad taste for me. It didn't seem to go anywhere and was just left hanging in mid air! It neither addressed nor solved anything. Just an hour of rantings by what appeared to be a deeply disturbed woman.

However, it did offer the audience a view of just how easy anyone can ruin your life; without a shred of tangible evidence!

I wonder why they didn't arrange a polygraph BEFORE the show like they did with a few others about molestation???  The son in law whose mother in law reported him that was on earlier in the week and  the stepson whose  step mother accused him etc.?   (I believed both were innocent in those cases)  With this one I think Christy is right, though don't agree with all of her actions.

Where is the husband in question also?  You bet if I were innocent I'd be on there begging for a polygraph.  Doesn't anyone find that suspicious?  Maybe because the show was about back stabbing sister?   It just seems if he were innocent he would be screaming from the roof tops.

Can;t wait to see part 2!

Results of lie detector test?

I know this show yesterday was a repeat and I am a regular watcher.  Since all the parties (sisters and Dr Phil) pledged quite confidently to a lie detector  test I am waiting to hear the results, though I'm not sure what it will prove since I think all are convinced that they are truthful. When will the results be available for us to gain better insight? (sitting on edge of chair). Another comment is why wasn't the husband there to defend himself?

Clearly all of this is extremely serious on both sides --- to be wrongly accusing or be covering up serious crimes against children.

Curious minds want to know. I'm also curious to know which of the sisters first contacted the show.

06/07 Backstabbing Sisters

Quote From: leo1111

Does anyone know if the lie detector was taken by the lying sister Christie?  Was there an Update done of this show?  Thanks

I'm curious as well about the outcome of the polygraph test for the sisters.  The sister making the allegations seems almost fanatical in her beliefs which is kind of scary.    No matter how many ways she's told that professionals found nothing amiss in her sister's family, she seems hellbent on believing everyone else is wrong.  So, how does this kind of blind fanaticism play out in a polygraph test?  If the person totally believes what they say, no matter how muddy her motivations, or how wrong she may be, does that allow you to pass a polygraph?

As far as the other sister--the midwife with the large family--I wonder how many of us could stand up to absolute scrutiny.  As I remember the years when my kids grew up (and they grew up to be wonderful and productive people), I'm sure if someone were taping us, there would be scenes of bad behavior on everyone's part.  No matter how hard you work to handle problems in a healthy manner, there are times when you lose your temper, or the kids provoke you to the point you fly off the handle and say things you can't believe are coming out of your mouth.   I think maybe the husband did view some garden variety porn and the wife was really upset about it.  Not that this was good, but it wasn't criminal.

response to what happened on lie detector test

Quote From: afraid

It appeared to me that at the end of the show the audience was given the responses to the lie detector test and the sister who made the serious allegations without real proof, and went so far as to report her sister to authorities; failed the test. Am I right on my inference as to what the results of the lie detector test were. I hope so.

Where is Enza when you need her?

Is this backstabbing? Who writes these titles for the show anyway? Christy is a nut to put it mildly, but I'm pretty sure Enza could put her in her place easily enough;)

Why do we put up with treatment from sisters that we would never put up with from anyone else?

I am the youngest of five sisters.  I only acknowledge the existence of the oldest.  The other three are dead to me and to my oldest sister because of their treatment of us and of our mother while she was sick and when she was dying.  These three people, because of their own issues with power, control, self-esteem, guilt, and denial, treated my mother as if she did not really have much to do with them and then treated my oldest sister and I, who took care of our mother, in horrid, monstrous, cold, and calculatingly evil ways after she died.  The truth is, these three people had put my oldest sister and I through much misery for our entire adult lives.  Oh, we all played the game of pretending to be a happy family.  But, when my mother died, ( my father had died several years earlier), it all fell apart.  I was emotionally and mentally abused so badly by the youngest of these three that I had to endure endless therapy for the effects she had on my mental state and self-esteem.  It took my and my oldest sister a lot of soul searching to realize that the people with the real problems were those three and we wrote them off.  Most of us would never put up with being treated with such disrespect, scrutiny, cruelty, or abuse from anyone to whom we were not related.  Why, then, do most of us keep people like this in our lives just because they have the label of sister, brother, mother, or father?  It makes no sense. You are not required to love anyone or to have anyone in your life who treats you that way.

Writing them off was the best thing we could have done for our own happiness.  My sister and I agree that we were fooling ourselves to think that we ever actually were close.  It was all a farce and we can see that now.  The people that we thought they were never existed  in the first place. So, we each made the choice to cut all ties with the other three and we mourned the loss of the sisters we thought we had.  They are now dead to us and we are so much happier in our own lives because they are no longer in it.  You cannot imagine how freeing it is to separate yourself, permanently, from an abusive factor in your life.

We wish them no harm just like we wish every human being no harm.  But they are out of our lives forever and we are so much better for it.  I often wondered how it would feel to hear that one of them was ill or had died.  My question was answered when we heard through the grapevine that one of them had breast cancer.  Both my oldest sister and seemed to feel the same thing.  It was like hearing about a stranger on the news who had breast cancer.  A sad story about someone we didn't know.  That was it.  We have already mourned the loss of the sisters we thought they were, so they are already dead and we have already processed  it.

If you are suffering because of the actions of a family member, ask yourself, "Would I put up with this from anyone else?  If not, why haven't I kicked them out of my life yet?"  You may find a a peace that is unlike anything you've ever known.  God Bless.

Bethany answers

Quote From: kristina42

I came from a family of 7 children. Both of my older sisters were abused by my dad, one of them having an abortion from a pregnancy by my dad at age 14. I had a baby at 12 due to abuse within the family. I denied any family being involved. Sick loyalty.

It makes me wonder why there has been no follow up show. Perhaps the lie detector tests caused Dr.Phil to contact the authorities and have them rethink the case? With an active, open case, they couldn't be free to air the follow up show. Why else would they not have shown the follow up show by now?

In my family, as an adult, I am the one that stepped forward against my own husband even. I had him on tape, confessing to abusing my children. The evidence could not be used because he and his attorney said I violated FCC regulations in taping a phone conversation without his knowledge. So yes, I can believe a chain of custody problem could put a wrench in things. In my case the content of the tapes was not allowed to outweigh the way I obtained the evidence.

I'm thinking the case was re-opened, based on Dr. Phil's findings. Even though polygraphs are inadmissable, they can be enough to get something re-assessed.

There are no cases against either of my parents. Our lives have been very normal and quiet since Dr. Phil stepped in. I'm very thankful to him for the help he gave my family. He is my hero!

My dad is a good man. He has never abused any of us. He didn't want to fuel Christy's fire by giving her attention. He really feels like this war is between my  mom and her sister and he was just caught in the middle. I really admire him for not hurting Christy and Jeff! He just goes to work everyday to give us kids a good life. Nothing dramatic has happened to us since christy left us alone. She doesn't know any of us kids. We know and like my mom's friends a lot better than her! Bethany
