(Original Air Date: 11/13/06) After nine days in The Dr. Phil House, have these guests let go of their prejudices, or are they still living with hate? Dr. Phil assigns more tasks that force the group to work together and learn even more about each other. White supremacist Gary has to cook dinner for B. and her African-American friends who come to visit. Initially angry, Gary has an enlightening conversation at the dinner table. Then, Dr. Phil sends John and Staci out on assignments together. First, to the gym for a workout, and then, after Staci gets a 300-pound makeover, the two head out in public, so she can see what it’s like to walk in John’s shoes. Next, with the help of a Hollywood makeup artist, Gary is transformed into a black man, and after some cultural coaching from B., heads to two different neighborhoods as an African-American male. With intense one-on-one time with Dr. Phil and some surprise family visits, these houseguests leave with different perspectives, better attitudes and plans for a peaceful future. Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

Follow-up

I'd really like to see a follow-up on these folks. Although the concept of the Dr. Phil house is good, and I understand that the 9 days were more about a "wake up call" than deep therapy, I'd like to see real improvement for these people.

Like some of the other posters, a real change takes time. The wake up call is just the start.

I hope we can see how they are doing about six months from now.

I don't see it that way

I was disappointed with The Dr. Phil House of Hate. This is one of the few disappointments I have had with his show. I have a hard time believing 9 days can bring on change. I wonder who really was maniplative. John has the farthest to go and to me the most damage to over come. To be hard on him, I feel is unrealistic. He needs more help then the others. To be so kind and gracious to those who are more mature and closer to the goal from the beginning isn't helpful.

It's like you have two kids racing to get to the corner. One will almost always get there first. To be cruel to the fat kid because he has a harder time running well.....
John was trying to please, I really don't think he knows what you wanted from him. Dr. Phil you have a real opportunity to change the world here, one person at a time, Help John, be kind to John, Find out why he is so damaged. One day in a fat suit does NOT teach skinny people what it is really like, Try years!!!!!!!!
PS I was once fat and have kept over 100 lbs off for years, with help by kindness not what I saw on your show

To fill a house full with people on the level of John and give them real time to bring forth their real issues and change, that would be a show worth seeing. % out of 6 were ready for bandaid therapy, John is in need of real help.

Children have to be guided. Yes they don't think about differences but children will walk up to complete strangers without impunity.

I am not sure what your point is here. Impunity is exemption from punishment.  How are you suggesting children be guided?

If God intended for there to be no races why did he create different races to begin with

So, why do you think God created different races? I am VERY unclear as to what your point is here.

LOL! You are not the only one to feel the disapproval of the moderators! I think you are in a pretty UNexclusive club.

My point is that a child's judgment is not always the best one to follow. They see everyone as a friend until they either are guided differently or have a bad experience. Just because they see everyone as a friend does not mean that that view point is a good example to follow.

My point on God creating different races he evidently meant for the races to be hear and when you combine races doesn't that go against what God himself established in the first place.

And yes I feel like the moderators get just a little too ban happy. If someone is presenting a point even if it gets a little offensive to some it is still a point. Everyone has opinions and this is a place to express those as long as the opinion does not get rude I have no problem with someone expressing their opinion even one that might be offensive to me.

It's called Evolution. If white skin is eliminated, that is because it's served it's purpose and is not longer useful to human beings.

I would be more concerned about things like high intelligence and humanity being eradicated than a skin color.

Evolution doesn't have foresight. White skin would disappear because it does. It wouldn't be because it's not useful, it would simply be because races aren't geographically separated anymore.

There are far too many humans to have something like skin color to be effected by natural selection, other than the fact that people are no longer forced to not interbreed, socially or geographically.

So not being prejudiced against a different race is an example of childish judgment and a BAD example to follow?? Are you serious?

I think that is quite an audacious presumption of "knowing" what God would want. All I can say is WOW. I really never expected that from you. I am completely blown away and a bit saddened.

Well, to a degree it is. I am sure the original poster understood that too. But her point was that children do not look at a black person and automatically have negative thoughts. And that is a good thing. The automatically give everyone a fair shot at BECOMING their friend. This is a great example to follow.

So you are against interracial marriage for religious reasons? Is this in the Bible or some other religious text? Or is this something that you feel has been revealed to you divinely?

pointless point about race differences

Quote From:

GOD CREATED ONLY ONE RACE---HUMAN!!! any actions/beliefs based on any other explanation  is someone's theory, is faulty and based in untruth.  the races looking differently was determined by geographical locations not GOD'S creation. every human being from the beginning of time until the end of time has been created by GOD in HIS image and descends in lineage from ADAM and EVE. every race of people on earth is made up of the same awesome ingredients (body parts)on the outside and the same most amazingly efficient ingredients (body parts) on the inside. these body parts do not change with race  (COLOR) though they often do with operation/capability in individuals. however that individual change does not relate to race (human color) but to every race( human being) joyfully being UNIQUELY FORMED BY GOD. this change in individuals as i see it, is no different than blood relatives of any group of people ( by color: black, white red, yellow  OR  from: africa, italy, ireland, japan  OR  named: american, canadian, mexican, russian) not all looking, weighing, smelling, seeing, thinking, behaving, loving, etc exactly alike!!!  therefore i can find no reason for all people to be exactly alike in everybody GOD CREATED especially since nature itself is abundant proof that GOD loves varierty in all things.

I'm sorry, but this is one of the most horrible comments I have ever seen. So, even if two people are madly in love, and care for each other deeply, if they are of different races they are going against God by having children together?

So are biracial kids ungodly?

It comes from the story of the tower of Babel. In it the people were trying to build a tower to heaven and God made them different nationality's and they spoke different languages. This is in the old testament. So yes it is in the Bible.
