Sarah and Tecoa are 25-year-old twin sisters who had a normal childhood until their mom and stepfather divorced, and their world changed forever. Sarah and Tecoa say to fill the void, they turned to drugs and sex. Now, Sarah lives minute to minute on the streets, consumed with her quest for heroin and crack cocaine, and selling her body to pay for her drugs. Tecoa is currently clean, but not by choice. She’s been in jail, unable to do anything but think about drugs. She’s also six months pregnant. Joani, a former Dr. Phil guest and recovering addict herself, found Sarah on the streets and documented her days and nights for a month. Dr. Phil shows video footage to the twins’ mother, Cindy. How did she let her daughters’ lives get so out of control? Dr. Phil gets the twins off the street and into The Dr. Phil House to detox, and to get their lives back. With surprise visits from their past, a terrifying look into their future, and Dr. Phil helping them through it all, will Sarah and Tecoa commit to rehab and stay clean? Talk about the show here.

Please note: The on-the-street footage in this series was filmed by a concerned outside party and sent to the Dr. Phil show.  Upon receipt of this compelling video, the Dr. Phil show began immediate efforts to plan and arrange necessary interventions and inspire these young adults to get out of harm’s way.

Find out what happened on the show.

11/20 The Dr. Phil House: Heroin Twins, The Intervention

I just want to say how sad i was watching this show. As A twin who is deceased i felt for these girls. They both look so sad that they made me cry watching them on the show. I hope and pray for them that they will both overcome this terrible demon that has entered their lives.

Furios with Mother Response

Quote From: acdc52105

Unless you have been there you don't understand and you cannot pass judgement on them.  I used to know these girls when they were in there early 20's.  The were normal just like you.  One must remember that, no matter where you live, or what you do, or what your socioeconomic class is there are always drugs, or some other form of addiction.  It is a disease that can effect anyone.

The role of parent is to provide your children with the tools necessary to become and sustain a healthy productive adulthood/life.  When you abandon your children, and your responsibility as a parent/role model, you are in essence, casting your seed to the wolves.  Plain and simple; I could have let the kids raise themselves... It certainly would have been easier and I could have pursued hobbies, outlets, etc., that made my life more self-centered.  Instead, I dedicated 18 years of my life raising my children.  No village was involved (although that would have been nice), no other parent, no boyfriend, no dating, nobody but me.

I brought my children into this world -- It's not your job to lead them, or anyone else -- It was my job and I took that responsiblity, and honor, seriously.

Unfortunately, some single parents (like the mother in question) blame their 'single mother status' for the reason their children are struggling, which in my opinion, is pure hogwash!  I raised all four children, plus one foster son on $850.00 per month and food stamps (plus trips to soup kitchens and pantries)!  There was no silver spoon, trust fund, wealthy suger-daddy -- Just me and some creative ways to make it all work.

It can be done, but you must fight the good fight and never forget that children are a work in progress --- abandon that work, and you are directly responsible for their failure!

I do not care how old my children become -- should I see one struggle, or head in a direction that spells trouble -- out comes mom's foot!  The job never ends, but they're everything I could hope for and I can relax and KNOW I did everything humanly possible to give them my time, love and attention and will continue to do so until the day I leave this earth...

The legacy I leave behind is the fact that my 3 grandchildren have parents that will dedicate their lives to their development and success (OH-- let me pause and say that success does not mean financial success; how you conduct your life and treat others=success).

I'm only hurt and upset, and furious, when I see beautiful human beings (such as your friends) having to endure tremendous pain (both physical and emotional) because their parents chose not to fight the good fight.  Their pain could have been avoided no matter how head strong these two may have been.  If only their mother had invested in them.  That's the tragedy here and why I am FURIOUS!

Here is the facts!!!!!!

We have a mother that is ready to state that she was busy with her life and that she could not take the time to deal with her children that were drinking and using a weed!!!! HELLO!!!!! There is a problem with that one.  I  mean come on please I know what it feels like to have a mother that is not there and how it feels to have a mother not care enough to help her child in thier time of need.  Yet now that I am a mother of two there is nothing that I would not do to help them and to know where they are and who they are with and what they are doing.  See god invented this wonderful thing that is called a voice and man invented conservation that helps with all of this.  Yes I understand that she is a single mother somewhat by choice and that she had to support the family however she needed to take the time to deal with her daughters.  She needs to know that if she would have stepped in and took a stance and applied a little displine then there might be another turn out. She makes me so angry to hear her when she talks.

Horrified & Shocked

I have watched this show from the beginning and the very first show that I watched was horrifying.  I could not believe that would feel good for either one of them to use these drugs.  It appeared so painful.  I had nightmare after nightmare after the first show.  You should re-show that first taping to them every time they have doubts about their recovery.  Coming from the background that i have had, i always questions why god would BLESS someone that abuses themselves like this with a child when there are people like myself and my husband that would have loved to have had more children.  Someone should take her a smack the crap out of her!  That is awful to say, but she doesn't deserve to have that blessing.  I think that once she has this child she will "see the light", but Sarah is the one that gave me nightmares!  Nothing she done looked enjoyable only painful.  I think that they have been brought to you by the blessing of God and you are doing the right thing to help them, but not only do these girls need to "wake up" but so does the mother.

alcohol is a drug too

Quote From: tysumsmom

Government cannot fix this. That is the mistake of SO many people anyway. They think Government is God and can fix everything. You cannot make a drug addict become clean. Even God does not take away our free will to make our own choices. No matter how much it hurts him. Yes most drugs can be very harmful but it is not the drug itself that is evil its what is inside a person that causes them to do this to themselves!! Government and force will not fix a persons life! Only God can do that!!!

Twins

I don't think that I have ever seen anything more disturbing then the video of the twins.  The one Sara I think is her name, I can't believe that she is still alive! I felt sick to my stomach watching it.  That is why no one should ever chance even trying drugs.  I doubt she thought she would end up like she is when she stuck the first needle in her arm.  So sad!  I hope she gets the help she so desparetly needs through Dr. Phil and has a second chance at life.  As for the other twin, she better pray every single day that the poor inocent baby inside of her comes out normal since she is using while pregnant.  She should be put back in jail if the baby is effected in any way due to her drug use.

Its all about compassion folks

My heart goes out to the twins and their mother. All of us have suffered and for some of us have had the blessing to not have had to go though this sad tale of dissappointment, lack of understanding and love. Addiction is a mental illness, I have it and it will be part of my life forever, tecoa and sarah have an illness, it is unfortunate that their mother didnt have the resources or knowledge in how to deal with her two daughters. I believe that this family have gone through this for a reason and one of them is to make others aware of these poor situations that many people around the world suffer. I personally believe that these two women can be an inspiration to others who are suffering and if they stay clean and learn to live in our society they can make this world even a tiny bit better by being an example and being supportive to others who may of went or are going through what they have gone through. I believe that this is their last chance to get well, and i believe that they will do it, i totally have faith in them and i will continue to pray for them to get an inner strength and self confidence that they so deserve, Id love for them to contact me so that i may become of of their friends, for i think they need a good friend to have girl talk and someone just to be non judging and loving and show them that humanity isnt all that bad. They have had to "sell their soul" as Sarah has said to survive (even though drug use isnt surviving, it still was a means for them to keep going...if you know what i mean) My sympathy goes out to them and i also have faith that the baby will be ok, as long as tecoa is good and she will start going though the stages of maternal love for her infant, and i pray that it will take over her cravings.. Anyways everyone try to look at the big picture and show compassion because what if this happened to you? Even the choices we make sometimes aren't good, we are only human after all...

intervention-methadone

Dr. Phil and anyone thinks rehab is going to help these girls is sadly mistaken. Methadone is the only answer for these two. I know so many people think methadone is so bad but believe me IT IS THE ONLY thing that may give these girl their life back. They are so far gone, rehab will not work. Let them get on a stable dose of methadone and for about 2 years of therapy then maybe they can began a slow taper off methadone. I know after 16 years of addiction no rehab, no cold turkey nothing worked for me.  UROD is a complete crazy idea. Why not just torture them. Sure UROD sounds great but it DOES NOT WORK... VERY EXPENSIVE and when you wake up you wish you were dead.

Well I could go on and on but why no agrees ,methadone is the only thing  for these girls if they want their life back it is the only way to go
