Sarah and Tecoa are 25-year-old twin sisters who had a normal childhood until their mom and stepfather divorced, and their world changed forever. Sarah and Tecoa say to fill the void, they turned to drugs and sex. Now, Sarah lives minute to minute on the streets, consumed with her quest for heroin and crack cocaine, and selling her body to pay for her drugs. Tecoa is currently clean, but not by choice. She’s been in jail, unable to do anything but think about drugs. She’s also six months pregnant. Joani, a former Dr. Phil guest and recovering addict herself, found Sarah on the streets and documented her days and nights for a month. Dr. Phil shows video footage to the twins’ mother, Cindy. How did she let her daughters’ lives get so out of control? Dr. Phil gets the twins off the street and into The Dr. Phil House to detox, and to get their lives back. With surprise visits from their past, a terrifying look into their future, and Dr. Phil helping them through it all, will Sarah and Tecoa commit to rehab and stay clean? Talk about the show here.

Please note: The on-the-street footage in this series was filmed by a concerned outside party and sent to the Dr. Phil show.  Upon receipt of this compelling video, the Dr. Phil show began immediate efforts to plan and arrange necessary interventions and inspire these young adults to get out of harm’s way.

Find out what happened on the show.

i know these words may do little to comfort

Quote From: hagar362

On Saturday, November 18, 2006 I got a visit from the police.  They came to inform me that they had found my runaway daughter who had been missing for many years.  She died from Aids in a New York City hospice after many years on the street using drugs.  She was found because of a new data base set up by the FBI after 9/11 to identify unclaimed bodies.  She was 30 years old and is buried in Potter's Field.  I watched the Intervention show shortly after I received this devasting news.  My daughter was a beautiful young woman who died in the prime of life.  Her life was taken from her by drugs and my life has been changed forever.  I dreaded the day when the knock came to my door but as long as it didn't I had hope.  All hope is gone now.
my heart ahces after reading this.  i am sure that you did the best parenting you could while you had her.  though i don't know your name, you will remain in my thoughts.

Please don't blame the Mother

I was upset to read that you wonder why the Mother let this happen to her daughters.  Please don't even try to blame her.  My daughter too was an addict her drug of choice was Meth.  She also has Epilepsy.  I chose to do tough love and it eventually worked.  She had two small children at the time.  She gave them to their Father.  She was not allowed at my house and tried to lie about her problem.  One day I got a phone call about her having seizures and was taken to the hospital.  I went and she was unconscious.  I told them to check for drugs and about her problem with Epilepsy.  Of course she had meth in her system.  About 8-10 hours later after knowing how to treat her she came to and they wanted to send her home.  I left and told her boyfriend she was not welcome at my house.  He claimed he didn't know of her problem.  He then told her she had to make a choice.  Either the drugs or him.  She has been drug free for over 5 years now and is married to him.  I thank the Lord daily for him and her strong will.  She has her children back and we are a family again.  I never felt as though it was my fault.  I will pray for Cindy and her girls.  I appreciate your intervention with them.  Again, please don't blame the Mother.  My heart goes out to her and her family.

The Twins on drugs

Dr. Phil, you hit the nail on the head when you asked their mother, "Where were you?"  That is exactly why I (as a single parent of three) was on the backs of my children.  Of course, they were not "always" aware that I was checking their draws, reading notes that were out in the open, and listening to their conversations on the phone.  At least, I knew to be aware of any signs that they were heading down the wrong roads.  Then when they did I was there to haul their skinny behinds back to be placed on the right road again.  They didn't like it at all, but they do appreciate it now that they are grown with children of their own.  The point is, when these two precious "gifts" from God were on the wrong roads, mama did not put forth any and I mean any effort to pull them back onto the right roads.  Now look who is paying the price, the girls are.  Their mother isn't dealing with it because she doesn't see that it is her problem.  If she had been there for her girls they just might not be in the condition they are now.  The girls have the chance to change their behaviors for the better and should take advantage of it, while they still can.  In my opinion, the girls need a reason to live other than for themselves.  They need someone to focus on besides themselves.  Let them work in an ER and prayfully they can really learn "empathy" and from this they can learn to love themselves.

Thanks

Heron Addicts

I really feel there was so much repeated  in this show and nothing contructive was done by Dr Phil.  I understand that it was necessary to get the information out how bad the addiction is but I feel it was too much.  I have lived with an addict and seen many come off it maybe that's why I wante dDr Phil to get started on helping them right on that show.

twins

Having watched this show on the two twins with the drug addiction .And having thought this over very carefully. The responsibility lies solely on the mother .Not paying attention and being self centered with her own problems and kicking out the stepfather who may have been able to help at this crucial time before she kicked him out ..Instead off ..thinking about herself ..Causing this problem in the first place.....Then allowing it to continue..My opinion ..A useless mother ..RON

Drugs just hide the pain!!!!!!

I hid in my pain for over 20 yrs first snorting Cocaine for 10 yrs until I burnt a hole in my nose. Then moved on to Crack for the next 10...losing everything.  My career, my kids, family, my SELF....to the street 's, I went at the age of 30.    Drugs are a Equal opputunity dealer!!!!  In & out of Rehab, jail, sobreity, and around and around it went. I now have 4 yrs CLEAN...By the Grace of God. My children all grown up, of course I missed every first you can think of, are now just starting to trust that I may be around for them. I still can't blame them for being scared that tomorrow I may be gone again...Drugs are patient...it is a daily thing even this far along.

11/20 The Dr. Phil House: Heroin Twins, The Intervention

Quote From: bosnian_girl

Drugs are such evil.

I think all governments of the world should unite and make an serious action-plan for destroying all of those plantages in the east, where the drugs are mainly and actually produced, and it should not be a question of will - all drugaddicts MUST be put in hospitals and MADE clean!!!!

Government cannot fix this. That is the mistake of SO many people anyway. They think Government is God and can fix everything. You cannot make a drug addict become clean. Even God does not take away our free will to make our own choices. No matter how much it hurts him. Yes most drugs can be very harmful but it is not the drug itself that is evil its what is inside a person that causes them to do this to themselves!! Government and force will not fix a persons life! Only God can do that!!!
