I'm here, I'm here! Don't forget about me! ; ) We've been so busy for the last week, but it really has been a great capper to the Summer. I know I told you all the things we were going to do, well, Junior Sailing has been a joy. We spent the entire weekend at the lake, spending the night on a friend's sailboat. It was so much fun to watch Erin on the sunfish, along with two other girls, just having a blast. On the second day, they did capsize recovery, and I've never rooted so hard for three girls to pull down that dagger board and get the boat righted again. We also got to borrow sea kayaks from a friend at the lake and that was fun too. I've decided that my new goal is to buy a sunfish and two kayaks for next summer. I'm going on faith that I can do that AND buy a new house. We'll see. In the meantime, there were lots of people around on the docks, and I visited and even went sailing for awhile. We're going up again this weekend, and will sleep over again... but this time we'll remember the pillows and blankets. ; P
On Tuesday, the highlight was visiting the goat farm. www.haystackgoatcheese.com We got to visit with all the goats, and they were so sweet. And Erin wanted to write a report, so she brought her notebook. We ran into the manager of the farm, and explained what Erin wanted to do, and they say down together, so that Erin could ask her questions. We took lots of pictures and she is hoping to post a story about it online.
Well, that means I've forgotten to say what she did on Friday. Erin was one of 40 kids who attended a Youth Journalism Workshop put on by the local newspaper. She learned a lot, including how to do interviews. The kids also learned how to post stories and photos on a community website designed for kids in the 4th to 8th grade. For the next school year, the paper will occasionally take stroies posted on the web and print them in a weekly Colorado Kids insert in the paper. So Erin could possibly get published in the newspaper!!
Tomorrow, we're headed to the county fair, although I'm just not a huge fan of fairs. Next weekend, I'm hoping to go to the Celtic Festival with Ralph, but I don't know for sure what the timing of that will be.
Trace, thanks you so much for the story about David's mother. How very, very fortunate you all were to have known her - she sounds so special. I hope that things are going well with Shan. And hugs to everyone -- Trace, Kelly, JP, Loretta, Vicki, KAK and eveyone else. I love you.
