Quote From: loretta24Oh Ami, I must be hormonal or something cause the story of the softball team had me tearing up. There is hope for this world, women playing a competitive sport doing the right thing! Made my day.
Then you follow up with a story about my all time favorite financial institution from hell. Yes, I too am a customer in need of banking vaseline. I read your tale to my husband, who avoids going to the house of horrors by doing as much banking on line as possible. That way he rarely has to speak to one of the individuals that they try and pass off as humans. I don't believe that they are humans because humans are supposed to use their brain cells which doesn't happen there. Anyway I digress, we were laughing so hard that we thought depends might be in order.
You see, about a year or so ago a delightful customer service from hell individual informed my husband that they needed to convert our account. I guess we had been banking with them from such an extended period of time (a couple of name changes I think) that our account was causing some back room pion some problems. "Don't worry sir, your account won't change a bit. Yes, I realize that you don't receive any fees for ATMs,etc. and I will just simply transfer it to the same type of account." Can you guess what happened? Bet you can!!! Fees, fees and more fees. When brought to the attention of the manager of hell, she explained that there was now no way to reverse the account, no way to fix this except to manually reverse the fees. Yes, my hubby insisted that they reverse the fees and now monthly he gets to argue with them about this. I don't have the patience or energy, I opened an account at a different nut house.
Also if you decide to file a lawsuit we would be very interested in making that a class action deal. Huge pet peeve of ours is the amount of time that they take to clear your money. I love it when they try and tell you that it takes that long to clear. Insanity!
Enough about banking. On my list of things to do before I leave this world in the number one spot since I was 11 years old is to go to the Derby. My love of horse racing began with Slew and has never left me. I've been fortunate enough to see the Belmont and the Travers but the Derby.....someday.
Ami, enjoy the concert and the peace. JP, well I would say have a blast but I know you will no matter what you are doing.
Big hello to everyone else and happy weekend.
It was a great story wasn't it!! I teared up reading it, you are right there is something really great about it that restores faith in people....at least some people. lol =)
Grrrr....the bank thing is just fubar. I really do despise these people. I used to work in a bank, in the old days when banking was a service industry and there was some pride in providing some. =P It is like former waitresses...who KNOW what good service is about and can spot a sloppy job in a second. Well the banks, you don't even have to know to know you are being screwed, but having btdt (been there done that) makes it worse really. Because the one absolute in banking....nothing is set in stone regardless of what they tell you. Jackasses.
There needs to be a law suit without question. Holding funds is nothing but crooked. We took a withdrawal from Raj's 401k to make a downpayment on our house. It had just gone on the market and we didn't want to lose the option so we moved $10k to his checking account so we could write a check to the lawyers. AFTER we made the deposit then they told us we could not get the funds for 10 days! Raj and I were topping cotton needless to say! Raj had a 'man to man' chat with the branch manager and his funds were released.
And that is the thing, I want a bank that at least pretends to have my best interest at heart!! Not this lame snow job that Walk-ova-ya doesn't even pretend to have. grrrr....Oh and one last pet peeve in the long list....it is one thing for my Walmart clerk to speak with such a heavy accent that I have to say pardon me 10 times checking out....but for my bank teller talking through a box over the racket of suction transit tubes to have such a heavy accent that it is nearly impossible to even know what she is saying is just stupid. It's easy to see the need for bank vaseline is endless! =P
Anyway I am shopping for a new bank. Bad thing is you just about have to deal with one to know whether it is worth a spit or not, and who has enough money to just play around making bank accounts everywhere? <sigh>
So on to better topics! The Derby. So here is the deal, when we are all wealthy and have nothing better to do than jet all over the place, let's all jet to Louisville one year and go to the Derby together! Spend the week partying and drinking mint juleps and eating Derby pie and Hot Browns! <drools> In fact I think the folks at DP should foot the bill for all of it! =P A partay for the AH!!! hehe
It would be fun no doubt. ;)
Oh and update, the concert was awesome! They spent all day preparing for it, getting to work one on one with an Atlanta Sympony musician in clinic. It was very cool and the concert was great. John and a friend of his were first and second chair (they played rock, paper, scissors for their places since there was no time for auditions...lol). John sucks at r,p,s so he got second chair. LOL Anyway they performed a 'solo' for viola in one of the pieces. It was awesome and all the sympony folks were great with the kids. This is a program that is about community learning (and I suspect scouting) and awareness of the symphony. It was a super experience for John and the only one he will get as it is strictly a middle school program. It just has not been in our county until now. I am glad he got to do it....and of course I enjoyed it immensely!
Well that is the latest here, I have been busy busy. I am trying to get a car deal finished, I will be glad when that is done. I had to get a drivers license. Errrmmm....I haven't had a valid one for over a year now. It is just such a pain the tail to have to spend all day in DMV here, and I liked my Ky license....they are pretty and I looked better on it. =P Now how's that for vain! lol Anyway done deal, I now have an ugly GA license in hand and am good to go!! lol
/waves to all!
