Is This Normal Social Discussion

Happy Belated Mothers Day everyone!  Hope that everyone enjoyed the day.  I think that yesterday was the best mothers day that I have had.

While I am married to a really good guy and I do recognize that I did get one of the good ones, well he is still a guy.  I don't care about most holidays, don't expect much, don't need lots of gifts but the one day that I want my hubby to plan something and put in some effort is mothers day.  Now I know I am not his mother but since the girls are still young he gets the honor.  He is a very smart man but sometimes very smart men can be just plain stupid.  In years past he has been just plain stupid and waits to the last minute to think about doing something nice for me.  Last year I, not so calmly, explained that considering all that goes into being a mom, all the events I plan, all the balls that I keep in the air, the least he could do is take 15 minutes and plan something, anything but something for me.

I guess he heard me because this year he made reservations at my favorite restaurant for lunch.  The place is an old mill on a small waterfall and I love the atmosphere.  Not typically a kid place which made it all the nicer.  The girls were well behaved and enjoyed dressing up for a fancy lunch.  I also slept in until 9:30, haven't done that in forever.  I was given roses and dandelions.  We then went and flew kites at the beach and played in the cold sand.  A wonderful day.

The best gifts of all were the cards that the girls made.  My littlest did a book with her kindergarten class, the kids completed the sentences that were pre printed on a page.  My two favorites were My mom always says:  her answer "I love you" and My mom loves:  "me".   I think that out of all the things that I can give to my kids, them knowing that I love them with everything I have is the best gift I can give them.    I'm so glad that they know it!

Hugs to all and Neecie, enjoy your Mothers Day .  I am keeping you, Erin, Ralph and his family in my thoughts.  It never fails to amaze me how death can bring out the absolute worst in people.  I am so sorry that the kids have to deal with the added issues.

I am sooooo jealous!!!

Ok Loretta, dang not often am I genuinely envious of other people!!! But you win! =P

Mother's consisted of me getting up at 6 am and me cleaning house and working. Ah well one day no different from the others. My oldest son called me Saturday and told me happy mother's day, since he had a double shift on Sunday and wasn't going to have time to call. Other than that nada. Now I realize how this has happened....sort of. There was no one to teach the boys about shopping and so forth. My mom would generally just get something and call it from the boys. It seemed silly for me to buy something wrap it up and call it from them. And J's dad could only ever say "you are not my mother"...so he would have no part in it.

They are guys. <sigh> Not even so much as a home made card, ecard, frack not even a baseball card! And believe it or not that oldest son of mine one year when he was very little gave me a treasured baseball card for Mother's Day. I still have it. He is the son that called me. The 'good' son. I reminded my other two sons that their 'good' brother knew the appropriate suck up and they were both Damien siblings....grrrr.

I also declared I would not cook for them on Mother's day, they said they didn't care. All they could do was lay around and moan about how sore they were from paint ball. I fed them cheese for supper. =P

Hugs,

~The Jealous Ami

Loretta that's adorable!

How precious.

Ami you are a hoot once again. lol

My Mother's Day was that my son and his girlfriend took me and his mom to the track. Now I'm not a gambler and it was freezing flippin cold with a driving rain. They did not dress for it and I don't think it's possible for anyone to really. But man was it fun! I have a friend at work that bets the horses and gave me tips and we won some. The other's I always just pick the names. Like HappyPoint. I told Jeremy that I picked that because I was at a happy point in my life. He grinned and placed the bet. You know what? I think he likes me! lol It really was much fun.

My older son didn't even call! Psssshhh. He's in California now and he thinks it's probable that he'll have to go overseas in August. He's never been, he's not married, and he has no kids. Jeremy is just furious about the war and thinks he should move to Canada. If it does happen Jeremy and I are going to watch him get on the plane. Of course I'm worried a tad. I told Jeremy "Why not my son? Everybody else's has to go." Just please to God to be safe. I do trust Him so.

I am back to work. I over did it and my Dr put me on part time. I hate that but y'all know me, gangbusters. And of course I've danced. I just need to stay away from that place! I am so blessed to have that job. It makes you realize when you go back how very much you value doing something you completely love. I've slowed down alto more actually and see these people more like people instead of dollar signs. It's an awakening of sorts. Course I did do the on line class thing with "A New Earth". It's funny guys cos now when you see something you see "it" and then the bigger picture starts coming in. KInda cool to look at life that way.

Well Ami, I think that I can help with the jealousy thing.

While your boys are boys and not mushy little girls, my darling little sweet girls are going to be.......teenage girls and sooner than I would like.  So I enjoy today because I know that hell will be here before I know it.  In a few years my house will be taken over by moody, cranky, bitchy girls who hate their mother and everyone else, except their bffs.

Then you can pity me or better yet my husband, I'll be going through menopause at the same time.

Hugs back at you!

JP,

I think that I would have loved your mother's day too!  I'm not a big gambler, I like to keep my money too much, but I love the races.  So I take it HappyPoint didn't win?  Damn good name!

I will keep your son in my thoughts and hope for a quick tour that brings him home safe and sound.

I guess it is time for me to check out "A New Earth" sounds like a perfect way to look at life!

Happy Point did win!

And of course it is as it should be. I don't like gambling either. We really had a ball with my friends picks though. I'm thinking we all ought to just start planning for us all to get together for Derby week next year. We can all stay here and just have a blast. There's plenty of activities that week. Well figure out the sleeping arrangements. I may have to work but ya'll can hang out and do what you want and I'll join every chance I get. There's tradition with the boys to be off that week. We'll all just have to talk about it and see.

Well some of those people do

It's like the "Who can wear the best hat in the universe" party. I've only gone once and dressed regularly and wore a straw hat. I could not believe the things I was seeing. If you show your tits you get beads. Well I got two and didn't show mine. I had walked down a hill to go to the bathrooms and when I got back up this guy asked where the restroom was and I told him and said "You are not gonna believe what you're gonna see on the way down!" He asked if it was my first time and I said yes and he gave me a bead for being so nice and innocent. The second time it was raining and this young girl and I stood underneath an overhang and chatted. She had like 40 and I asked how. She said she was a dancer and what did it matter to her. She liked me too and gave me a bead. Everybody's so nice and omg the stuff you see in the infield! I'm sooo innocent. And I like it that way! lol
