Dag nab it!

So the MRI is ok so the surgeon thinks it may be cardiovascular. psshhh! Still bothering me and it seems all I do is rest. I remember a few yrs ago I went to this dr that wanted to do some surgery and "maybe remove some plaque." I turned it down quick because the stress test was fine. I really don't think I can pass it this time. Is anyone familiar with chelation theraphy?

I hate that for you JP. I hate not knowing what is going on, I want them to find my problems and fix 'em NOW. lol I know you are feeling the same way too. =/

I have no idea what that is, I will look it up though. Where was the plaque that other doctor wanted to remove? Are they thinking the arteries in your leg?

I am kind of confused.

chelation therapy

Errr....this is wikipedia....which is not a great source....but the Heart Association site says much the same thing....

Some alternative medicine practitioners administer chelating agents, usually EDTA, to patients with hardening of the arteries. The use of EDTA chelation therapy as a treatment for coronary artery disease has not been shown to be effective and is not approved by the FDA. Several possible mechanisms have been proposed, though none have been scientifically validated. The procedure might leech calcium directly from the fatty plaques that block the arteries; stimulate the release of a hormone that removes deposited calcium or lowers cholesterol levels; or reduce oxidative stress on the blood vessel walls. The US National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine is currently conducting a trial of efficacy, expected to complete around July 2009. Enrollment in the trial was suspended on September 26, 2008 for an investigation by OHRP after complaints about ethical concerns such as inadequate informed consent.

The American Heart Association states that there is currently "no scientific evidence to demonstrate any benefit from this form of therapy" and that the "United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the American College of Cardiology all agree with the American Heart Association" that "there have been no adequate, controlled, published scientific studies using currently approved scientific methodology to support this therapy for cardiovascular disease."] Atwood et al. consider that methodological flaws and lack of prior probability make this trial "unethical, dangerous, pointless, and wasteful."

Is this what your doc is saying to try?

*hands Vicki a green popsicle for the win!!!* hehe

She does look like she has two socks on her front feet.

I was holding cuddling up with her the other day, had her just sort of resting on my chest (boobs are soft and fluffy you know..hehe) and all the sudden she nipped me. Bad bunny!!  I didn't think much about until later John was like "what happened to you neck?". I went and looked and low and behold little LeStat had indeed brought blood!! Of course I was also watching Interview With a Vampire at the time. I swear I think she was getting the whole jist of being a vampire!!!

Well done Vicki!!

Is This Normal Social Discussion

Has anyone tried the beta yet?

They are changing the format here again and are testing with a beta run. The moderator helped me find my profile (I thought it was lost yet again) and I downloaded a new pic there but can't see a post I made yet. It says they are each being approved before actually showing up. Not sure that will stay the same or if that is just part of the testing.

Anyway just wondered if anyone more puter savvy than me has played with it any yet?

Hugs,

~Ami

    Calling all animals!

You guys need to click on the beta link at the top of this page and go post on the ITNSD board! We need it busy so we don't risk maybe losing the board.

I'm glad they are doing this in beta this time, you guys remember what a mess just suddenly happened the last time they changed it? eeeekkk... I couldn't get on for ever and our profiles were whoopsed too. Yay for them letting us try it first before archiving or zapping all our posts here. =)

    See you all there!

Well when I g to the Beta thing

it's giving me the old jp123 sign on name and I'll be missing my bluebird again. Is this something we have to do in order to be on this board?

I had looked up chelation theraphy Ami! lol My cousin is a nurse and she and her parents do the chelation theraphy and felt 20 yrs younger. I just wanted to know if anyone else knew anyone that had had it done.

My dr hasn't seen me yet and won't for two wks so he hasn't suggested anything. and I'm pretty sure it won't be chelation! lol

Isn't there meds to break up the clog? I DON'T WANT TO HAVE SURGERY!  This dr wanted me to have this surgery 1 1/2 yrs ago and I refused and until now have had 0 problems. sigh. I dunno. I suppose I'll go and see what he says. It's not ok to feel this way I'll tell ya that.  Quality of life and all that....
