Tap - Pepe's Big Adventure

Quote From: tapestry6o

Turns out Chico's real name is Pepe! I like that for several reasons.

His owners finally contacted animal control and tonight the little boy is back home with his real family.

The wife picked him up and she is very nice. Being me, I'd told her husband on the phone that they should neuter him, because he was likely to get cancer if they didn't. (He is unsuitable for breeding because his front legs are  a mess. He's bow-legged and splay-footed.) I also warned them about the coyotes and told them that if he escaped again I was going to keep him.

She gave me a very generous reward and is going to board him with me whenever they travel. I'm really going to miss Pepe but am glad I'll probably see him again. Oh, and she swears that she'll get him neutered soon. She'd even had someone else recommend the vet I like best.

It's a good ending to Pepe's adventure. Misty and Queenie and relieved that the persistent pest is gone but I'm going to miss him. If he does come back neutered, they'll be less leery of him.

All I can say is that it's a good thing the little guy was only there for a few days.  Otherwise, they'd have to wrestle him out of your arms!  You old softy.  Glad that his owners showed up.  Even more glad that you liked them!

Have been hearing on the news the last couple of days about all of the fires in Texas and the lack of rain.  Hope you're safe and well.

Hugs always ~ Trace.

Type "define avatar" into Google and you get: "A graphical image of a user, such as used in graphical real-time Chat applications, or, a graphical personification of a computer or a computer process, intended to make the computing or network environment a more friendly place."

I'm with Cygne on this one:  Merriam Webster defines avatar as "1.the incarnation of a Hindu deity 2. incarnation in human form 3. a variant phase or version of a continuing basic entity 4. an electronic image that represents and is manipulated by a computer user"

Sad to admit but the reason that I too thought it to be related to incarnation is because of a kids show called "The Avatar - Last Airbender".  My girls love it.

I think they've bent the original meaning of the word. I know a bit of Sanskrit being that I've been learning Yoga Teacher Training in the past 5 years. Divine Incarnation is also the definition in the Webster Dictionary. But you know those computer geeks, they like to take an ordinary term and twist it around. Look at the word "cell" for example.

I had just never heard the word 'avatar' used in that sense. I guess I'm still a dinosaur when it comes to computer jargon.

I'm sorry if I left the impression that I thought you had "done" something. What I said was, "if you do what you seem to want to do." (I added emphasis.) If you had, in fact, actually "done" something, I think I would have been shocked into total silence on the issue. That's not how I see you at all.

With most of what I said I was trying to convey how emotionally/socially dangerous this could be for you. Men are dogs and nobody's surprised when they act like dogs. (So goes the stupid stereotype.) But somebody's got to take the fall, and it will be the woman in most cases.

Avatar, pt 2

We're all right. It's context that determines meaning. Think of "cookie" and any number of other words.

The definition I got from Google is almost nonsensical and had me laughing so hard with the last few words, I posted it without comment.

"Type "define avatar" into Google and you get: "A graphical image of a user, such as used in graphical real-time Chat applications, or, a graphical personification of a computer or a computer process, intended to make the computing or network environment a more friendly place." "

Google's "define" is really handy for me, but lots of the definitions are as bad as this one. And, to make matters worse, Google (as first choice) gave only that definition of "avatar." Contrast that with the result Loretta posted! The definitions were concise and made sense.

As our good friend Kelly would say, "No worries mate!"  I really do appreciate your thoughts and especially your concern.  It has been interesting to get everyone's views on the whole issue.

Maybe that's the whole problem -- I just really like dogs! ; )

Anyway, I must admit, I've been on edge lately (that's for the benefit of anyone who hasn't already figured that out) and there's so much going on, and so much to think about, that it's really been a  challenge.  Tonight after work, I'm headed to pick Erin up at her dad's, (now, let me tell you -- there's a DOG) where I'll get to meet her new stepmom-to-be.  Oh joy.  Actually, I'm trying to figure what kind of hand signals I might be able to use to let her know what a big mistake she's making.

If that doesn't work, we'll just have to get those stinky flower deliveries lined up.

I promise, on my honor, to be very, very careful, and if I can't be careful, well then, I'll just have to be lucky!

I like dogs, too. But not all of them and I never trust them to be anything other than dogs. ;)

Here's a pic of a Pepe lookalike. I stole the pic from a breeder's web page (Cantee Chihuahuas).

I don't know what has been going on with the board today. I've had some kind of problem every day since we got this new, improved version. Can you believe that DP actually gave a guest web site hosting from the company (dang, i wish I could remember the name of the company) that does this site? I was shocked. Usually he give guests really nice stuff.

If you click on Report to Staff under the bad posts, you'll get a comment box and can ask that they be removed.

Busy taking pictures(some of those you have seen)with my new camera,,,love the delete key it has...lol and splurged on a picture printer so my walls are getting full which is easy to do in a log house!  Told Norm we may have to tear this one down and build a bigger one...lol
