(cont'd) David and the shopping spree

Well, David tells me that his partner's nephews are flying over from England this week, and then they're taking them to Disneyland on Friday.  David has been searching desperately for a pair of sandals or comfortable shoes and at least a pair of jogging pants that fit.  Apparently there aren't too many stores that hold his size.  He tells me that a 36 inch waist is about all he can find, and he hasn't been that size since 1986.  So off we go.

I swear, if you had told me some thirty years ago that I would be here now, shopping with David, looking for sandals and shorts and jogging pants after coming out of a hospital (oh by the way, he did tell me to remove the plastic hospital bracelet tag from my arm "it looks tacky, Trace") well I would have told you that never in my lifetime could I make up such a situation.  And him going to Disneyland!  Oh, the mind boggles.

We actually didn't buy anything for him, although I did kind of like the look of him in some ripped designer khaki shorts and suspenders, along with the white pimp shoes.  We sat and had a coffee and talked for a few hours, just about stuff.  And then he drove me home in his gold Cadillac.

I am so, so happy to have a friend like him.  Okay, I've got stuff to deal with now, but you know what I'll be thinking of on the weekend?  My wonderful, 60-year-old, crazy, intelligent, flagrantly gay, snobbish friend, chasing after two little kids at Disneyland, probably with cotton candy stuck to his ass and a Mickey Mouse hat on.  Oh, some things just make me smile.

Hope you're all well.  Post more okay!  I miss you.

It's such a blessing to have incredible friends like David.  Friends like that, as well as our children, make life so very much more colorful than it would be without them.  I can't WAIT to hear the stories of his adventures in Disneyland.  I, myself, am gearing myself up to take on Walt Disney World.  Most of the time, when I think about it, the whole idea seems terrifying, but I guess the best plan is to just jump in and look for ways to have fun no matter what happens.

I don't see any way out of going though, since I mentioned it months ago, and at the same time, Erin's dad was talking about Disneyland at Spring Break.  However, he backed out of his plans "because he was tired of flying".  Erin is still disappointed about that.  One way or another, she and I are definitely visiting the Mouse this Summer!

Hi kids

Don't have much to post about though Trace. Did I tell you I have a boring life?! Met a guy from Match today. Very nice and I think handsome. He's a talker and that's a very good thing. We're going to see each other Sunday.

Went to a singles dance two wks ago. Boy was that a blast! I didn't remember that I love to dance so much. Met a guy that made a date with me and then decided he wanted to cut his grass instead. Wtf? So he's history. LOL.

Went to a mega churche's Easter Pageant. Boy was that the bomb! Unbelieveable talent.

Had to kick Jeremy out. Found pot in his room. He was smarting off to me in front of friends, and some other irritating things. I think he's mad at me! LOL. It's really nice to have mi casa to myself again. Didn't realize I'd like it so much.

Have tons of moss in my yard for some reason, so I've been trying to dig that up when time allows and planting new grass seed. I adore working in my yard. It's going to be in the 70's starting tomorrow and I'm off on Friday and Sunday. Life is just plain good!

Been lurking now and then so I do getta know what's what with you guys. HITYL?

Trace, Bluebird

You gals are making me feel nostagic with all that talk about Disneyland and the kids.

When my son was 11, he was granted a wish from the
"Children's Wish Foundation". These wishes are granted to kids with life-threatening illnesses. As some of you know, my son had cancer. After his treatments were over, we went to Disneyworld in Florida and spent a week there. We stayed in Kissimee, a stone's throw away from Orlando in a modest resort near a lake. It was the end of September but the temperatures were still in the 90s and humid! We spent the week going through rides, etc in DisneyWorld, we went to Universal Studio, and when it was too hot, we went to these fabulous waterslides! We did some mini-golfing across the street from where we were staying, ate croc meat, or is it alligator? I can never make that distinction. Anyway, it was a cross between fish and chicken. Real good.

My son didn't have a sibling so they allowed us to take his very best friend, who, by the way, was from a single parent home. His Mom couldn't have afforded to bring him there in a million years so that was very gratifying for us. They had so much fun together.

My husband and I needed this well deserved rest after living in the hospital for 8 months. I will never forget it.

Thought I'd share that with you.

Enjoy Disneyland.

hugs,

Cygne

We did the Disney World thing not too long ago with the girls and had a blast!  If you can swing it try and stay at one of their hotels.  You can arrange to have them pick you up at the airport and they deal with getting your luggage from the plane, no extra charge.  All we had to worry about was a carry on, a back pack and the kids.

I'm not a big fan of air travel but I do it about once year anyway.  It was so worth it to see the girls faces when they saw the castle for the first time.  One thing a friend of mine who lives nearby told me to do was backpack in the parks with your own water bottles.  To buy it in the park costs a fortune and they have water fountains everywhere to refill.  We also went in the morning when they first opened, left when it got busy and hot in the early afternoon, relaxed by the pool and then went back in the evening.

Try not to be terrified, you can do it and it is almost impossible to not have fun watching your child have a blast.

Good memories indeed.  Thanks for sharing.

I know well the Children's Wish Foundation, it's an incredible organization.  I'm kind of lost for words, you know,  every time I think about what your family must have gone through when your son got ill.  Our children are so precious and I'm so glad that he's now well.

While I don't know what date in May his birthday is, well just imagine me singing Happy Birthday to him in cyberland.  Off key, of course, which thankfully he won't hear!  He is a musician as I recall!

Hugs to you Cygne.

Well, you sure as hell have more to tell than I do!  Dates, dancing, guys who would rather cut grass than see you, Easter pageants... sheesh.  My life is bloody boring compared to yours!  Sometimes I think I've got moss growing on me.  Can you help?  Oh, how I envy the fact that you can get out in your garden now.  The weather here is slightly promising.  Franco has actually been out on the balcony to sit in the sun.  Means nothing though, as we've been known to have one last snowstorm during April.

Sorry to hear about Jeremy, my friend.  It's funny how doing the right thing hurts sometimes.  What the hell, who cares if he's mad at you?

Personally, I think you should hire some hunky, handsome gardener who talks alot and knows how to dance and rent out Jeremy's room to him.  Ooops, sorry.  Just got caught up in a fantasy there!

Love ya Bluebird.

From what I've heard Disneyland is pretty cool.  Apparently everyone is happy there - what a concept!  I went to the original one in California when I was about eight-years-old or something.  I remember loving Knotts Berry Farm.

When Mia Jade is old enough I fully intend to take her and my daughter there.  I'll be the one sitting by the pool at the hotel reading a book while Shan takes Mia on all of the rides.  They can tell me all about it at the end of the day!

You really should take Erin while the two of you are still young enough to enjoy it.  By all accounts, as Loretta and Cygne have said, it's a total blast!  And hey, if David can do it, so can you.

Hugs.

Happy Friday!

Guess what I got yesterday.  Happiness!  (and no Vicki, I said "happiness", not "a penis")  Sheesh girl, get your mind out of the gutter!

My friend Karen has been going through an awful scare.  She discovered a lump on her breast about a month ago and went into the hospital last week.  Had the lump removed and lymph nodes etc. and we've all been been crossing our fingers to say the least, hoping that she'll be okay.  She's another old friend of mine (known her since I was seventeen) and she has two little girls.  Her mother died suddenly just before Christmas last year so suffice to say that she's been awfully sad.  Not a good way to be when you're facing a crisis.  Attitude, honestly is well, not everything, but it sure helps.  So we rallied the troops and have kept sending her all the finest wishes and fun memories.

Turns out she'll be fine.  She has to go through radiation therapy but they're going to leave the chemo for now.  I got home yesterday and found eighteen emails copied to me from friends everywhere.  If emails can do a happy dance ... well.  Karen and her husband get to spend Easter with their little girls, puttering around in the garden, even though Karen says the weather in England is shite right now.  My brother says that with all the sickness going around lately we really should think about getting all of the old clan together, rent a house in Rio or something and talk about the good times!  My old boyfriend emailed back and said that "with Trace along, perhaps we should rent it out for two weeks - given how she goes on and on with her stories!"  Geeze - some people just never grow up....

So, today is a bright day!  Oh, and guess what else I got yesterday?   TEETH!  Oh, I'm so happy about that too.  They look pretty cool, even though it feels like I've got a truck parked in my mouth.  Guess it will take me a little while to get used to them.  I sneezed last night and they didn't fly out across the wall or anything, so I'm thinking they fit fairly well.  The dentist gave me this little container to put them in at night.  I figured they might feel kind of lonely without me for the first night so I  wrapped a little blanket around them.  (oh come on guys, I'm smiling here now!)

Have a terrific weekend!  I love it when good stuff happens.

Hugs and smiles (with a toothy grin) ~ Trace.
