Lady of the Lake Trace

Hello Trace – I wanted to get back to you to hear all about your trip. I'm sure a tour of the Canadian countryside is fabulous – cough – hack – wheeze. Did you experience the thrill of the potholed roads or the grinding wheels of the antique railroad. Either way the thrilling landscape capturing the moment. Look there a pine tree, look running water, look, look that might be a road, - windshield wipers a blazing a cross the windshield bushing the snow away. Did you stop at the roadside diners along the way. You meet some great people in those places. I must admit I have not heard of any of the places you visited but they are probably on some map. Did you take a pet with you? [an animal not a playboy].  I was telling Vicki about all the money John Steinbeck made on the book "Travels with Charlie". Charlie was a dog. Did you ever see the movie a "Boy and his Dog"? Don Johnson’s first movie. It was much better. How do I get so far of message? Anyhow if a third rate writer can write a novel like that just think what you could do with similar material.

Well I’ll tease er.. .write more later –till then, as the French Canadians say "ovary wa, and soup de jour. -J

Oh Juss.  I just realized that I neglected to mention that we had a team of huskies pulling the car all the way through the Rockies...  it got pretty crowded in the backseat when they got tired and and my brother had to take over the driving.  All ten of us with our heads stuck out the window, panting and letting the wind whip through our fur.

I'm going to have to teach you some French if you ever come to Toronto.  Did you know that we have a "hors taxe" shop at the airports here?  I can only imagine you going into a shop expecting one thing and coming out with a bottle of Canadian whisky instead.   (Okay, "hors taxe" means duty-free in French - wouldn't want you to get a headache trying to figure that one out!)

Good to see you back!  Until later, reservoir and la plume de ma tante.

Hugs!

Happy 4th to  you as well.  Can't believe J-Boy is that old!   A hug to him.

Hope all of you have had a good weekend.  Now, I'm thinking that Vicki is the one who got to celebrate it twice.  (Hey V,  please tell me that you and your family haven't been affected by the fires in Saskatchewan...)

Hugs.

Well sorry for not knowing more about the Canadian wild life. I thought the Huskies you were referring to were the Univ. of Washington football team. I looked up the species on the Internet and was surprised to see that they are actually related to the Chihuahua except their hair is Waaaay longer. Huskies I believe is the French wording for "Rat like dog with very long hair". Not positive about that. I’m a little surprise that you are trying to take credit for the Rockies though. The Rockies are in Colorado. Haven’t you heard John Denver’s song Rocky Mountain High. I think he was the one high when he wrote it, but I de-grass. [check the spelling on that will you?]. Your brother took over the driving- how rude. If the dogs were nice enough to pull him couldn’t he have pulled them for a while? While we’re on the subject did you see the movie "8 below? Now there were some dogs. I think they were Malmutts, oops my mistake, I just looked them up and they’re Malamutes. I don’t want to make fun of the handicap I had no idea that they were mute.

Well I don’t want to jump to conclusions as I have always considered this a family site despite a few diversions into some taboo area [I have names hehe]., but just what did you mean by "letting the wind blow through ‘our’ fur". And as for the hors tax, there was a time when I would gladly have paid the damn tax for a duty well done. It would have had to include Nylons and High Heels is some way though. Now at my age I have a resistance to hors or as the French say I have a ‘piece’ de resistance. Well that’s enough silliness for now, so I’ll just say Toulouse Lautrec. Don’t know what it means but it sounded very French. Ok ok enough of the French jokes. Till next your friend Au Jus

Ok, better late than never...

Happy 4th of July!!  Erin and I just got back (verrrrry late) from a Rockies baseball game, followed by fireworks.  Of course, this is Colorado and never mind that we're in a drought (again), tonight we experienced our second huge downpour in a row, complete with thunder and lightning.  Yep, I do believe the game was delayed for almost two hours.  But, we stuck it out and all for the good, since the Rockies won 6-1 and the fireworks were fabulous, even if there wasn't a great big fairytale castle to look at.

Things are going well, job is good, diving (Erin's of course) is fantastic; there's a couple of meets coming up.  We're going sailing on Thursday.  Might have jury duty next week; I'd love to hear everyone's stories on how they get out of that fun little task -- I bet there are some great ones.  Juss, I'm talking to you, and it's great to have you back.

In other news, it's time to get out the stinky flower arrangements again.  The wedding is back on and scheduled to take place in late August, out of town, and Erin is not invited.  I think some extra big, extra stinky flowers are very much in order.   Anyone want to tell me why I should wish my ex well with his new marriage?  jerk.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a wonderful day -- we certainly did.  : )

It's morning and the birds are singing, and I realize that I sounded pretty bitter last night.  But I am really mad at my ex and as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter whether I hope good things for him or not, he's making his own karma.  However, I heard something really important a few days ago -- "Holding on to anger is like taking poison and hoping the other guy dies."  I don't have any bitterness about my marriage; I'm just glad to be out, but it's hard not to be angry when he hurts my baby.

I don't have an ex so I may be off base but when my sister's ex got remarried she had some mixed emotions.  She was the one who wanted out of the marriage (for all the right reasons) but it upset her when he was the FIRST to remarry.  He was such a jerk to her but was soooo wonderful to the new woman in his life.  Of course the honeymoon period ends and a jerk is still a jerk.

And when it comes to Erin is she really hurt by it or do you think she should be hurt?  I say that because of something that has occurred with a family member of mine and I thought that my daughter (8 1/2) would be hurt and she really wasn't.  I, as a grownup, would have been upset but it didn't even bother her in the least.  I learn so much from my kids!!!

Now jury duty, I have always wanted to sit on a jury so when I got a notice for it I was happy.  Only problem was I was nursing a 3 month old who refused to take a bottle and even though I asked they said I couldn't bring her with me.  They thought it might be distracting!!!  So they give me a postponement and wouldn't you know by the time they call me again I've moved to a different state.  My hubby served on an attempted murder and kidnapping trial about a month before our wedding.  He ended up being sequestered for 4 days.  Drove me nuts trying to make the final wedding plans and I couldn't even talk to him.  Like he cared about the details anyway!!!

Anyway, glad to hear that the new job is going well.  And to everyone else, hello and hope all is well.

Neecie

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind doing jury duty.  Just a thing I have about courtrooms.   Perhaps the fact that I was once married to a lawyer has severely tainted my view of them, but the legal system in itself just intrigues me.   I'd never get past the voir dire (oh hell, here we go with the French again!) as I would be too concerned about the shadow of a doubt.  But sometimes when I'm in the midst of a story that I'm trying to write, I sit in the back of a courthouse, just watching expressions and people.

If I were you, well you never know.  You might just meet your Alan Shore!  With my luck I'd meet Denny Crane.

Don't sweat your ex-husband's wedding.  Loretta's right.  Ignore it and take Erin out on that day and do something wonderful together so she doesn't have to think about it.

I'm not going to waste stinky flower arrangements on him or anyone!  It takes too much energy to be angry.

xoxo.
