Hello from Down Under!

Gidday Mates!

Hahaha well I guess thats what everyone expects an Aussie to say however this Aussie isnt quite so up today. Feeling real bad and down. I am Trying to read Dr Phils book and Im looking back and Im looking forward and cant seem to concentrate on the now. Just what I have lost and gained and what I have to lose.

I want to get off the merry go round but cant find the darn switch. I could really use a buddy right now. Anyone out there who would like a pen pal or email buddy ???

Could use you guys who understand what its like to be more than 200 pounds overweight, gee I hate the term morbid obeseity. Isnt that hideous? As if we dont have enough to deal with. and we have that revolting reminder hanging over our heads!

I am annoyed at myself. I lost about 90 lbs two years ago and here i am with it all again plus some!

God help me.

Hi :)

Hi,

My name is Vanessa. This is pretty much my first time posting, but I have been reading for a little while.

I am 25 years old and single and I live alone. I have struggled wih my weight issues since I was 14.

I have a very difficult time staying positive and keeping my mind on my goals. I always feel like I need food when I am tired, or cranky, or...I'm no getting along with the guy I'm dating or whatever...

I'm sure many of you can relate, as I definitely identify with all of you and your struggle to maintain control.

Anyway, I just want to say hi and ask if it's alright that I join your board.

Thanks.

Vanessa

monday morning& the kids spring break....

Hello e1, hope all are doing well. It's monday, first monday off in a while. The kids are on spring break, and running WILD already. I planned to sleep in until 11:00, no chance of that. The kids were up at 8. 4 hours later, they're still going.

Had a good/bad weekend. We went to a wedding Sat, and a birthday party Sun. So I haven't walked all weekend. And i've eaten CAKE all weekend. I know it's not good but, I only ate1 piece at wedding compared to my usual 3 or 4, then bringing some home. Sunday I ate 2 small pieces. So i'm committing for this week to drink more water, exercise 15 extra min./day, and to eat right.

Hello and welcome to all the newcomers. This is a wonderful site. Ihope we can all inspire and help each other. Good luck! Just remember we will all have good and bad days, it's what we do about them that counts. Stay strong, and believe to ACHIEVE.

Have a great day an week....................daeboo

So inspiring!

I just want everyone to know just how inspiring you are to me. I've read your posts, and I think wow. It seems like we've all experienced similar situations that got us to this point. At least I know I have. I find that going on a "diet" is devastating to my body in the long run. First off, if you haven't gotten Dr. Phil's weight loss book, then that's the first thing I recommend that you do. I know I've heard but I've read TONS of books before and it never helped me. Well, I know this... everytime I read it I get more from it. It not only helps you with your eating, but it also helps with your mind. And when it says to do the exercises... DO THEM! I think being brutally honest with yourself helps in this book. At least your not having to tell the world about your dirty eating secrets, like hiding food, or stealing it or whatever it is that you do with food. But if you admit it to yourself, then that's a start. I am to the point where I feel so tired all the time that I don't feel like exercising, but I will learn to get past that one day I hope. My first goal that I've managed to achieve is small, and I think small steps help a LOT! It's very hard for me to add fruits and vegetables to my diet, and I am sure I am not the only one. So what I do is try to make sure I add them to my meals. For example... At lunch if I eat a sandwich then I make sure I eat a salad with it, or at supper whatever we make... I make it a "habit" to eat a green veggie. My boyfriend doesn't always want veggies with his meal, but either way I still have something with mine. That's my first step... and if you're big on breakfast foods, try adding green onions, tomatoes to your eggs, or having an apple or orange with your cereal. You'd be surprised at how much that will change things. I've heard that you have to do something at least 21 times in a row to make it a part of your daily habits, so it's not like you can do it a couple times and be done with it. Now I make sure if I have a salad with my dinner that I eat it first, and all of a sudden I am full! We had steak, baked potato, rolls, and a salad last night. I ate like half my potato, and half my steak, and didn't even finish my salad! My steak was a large sirloin that looks like one of those big ribeyes you get at a restaurant. I usually scarf that down without even thinking about it and then I am over full. I think that if you're anything like me, that small changes can make a big difference. Diets seem to shock my body and I get the cravings for sugar almost immediately. I have found the small changes to be the best route to take. I haven't gotten the exercise routine yet, but of course I always want to quit after a couple days, but I will overcome it somehow. So my question is....

What is everyone doing to make changes to their lives? Are you doing like me and doing small changes, or are you drastically changing things? (Some people require a total restriction from carbs if they're overly addicted to them, so not everyone is the same, and some require a TOTAL change and can't just make small changes, so please don't think you have to take my route either. It's only what I do from my own personal experience.) What about exercise? This is the one I fail at, but I will get into it again. I was just wondering how everyone else is making changes and how it's affecting your life. Hope all is well and everyone is enjoying the weather. :)

Scared

Hi everyone. I'm new and was reading some of the post in here. I'm 33 and morbidly obese. I'm work fulltime and was a very active woman. In the past few months I found out I was diabetic and other health issues have started to appear. I'm scared to death. I've been to diabtic nutrition classes but I'm still at a loss on where to begin and I know it has to start some where. It seems like my life is changing so rapidly and I'm not able to gain control. I have small childrem and I want to become healthier for them and myself. Does anyone have some advice on how to get the ball rolling for me???

hello e1

well e1, i'm convinced I have no will power. This weekend I had no self control. I ate cake, puddings, and candid yams. I'm not ashamed of telling you this. I'm not going to feel sorry for myself, i'm going to do something about it. I can & will LEARN to control my sweet TEETH, not tooth. I'm tired of being BIG, I know it's left up to me too do something about it.

I hope e1 had a good weekend. Hopefully you did better than I did.I'm trying to change my eating habits now so by MothersDay, i'll have more will power. Have a good week. Exercise, eat healthy, drink plenty of water.

Hello to all the newbies & welcome

I've already tried that. When I go to "My Profile" and then click on "Edit Profile", I can edit a vast array of information (name, email, password, address, phone numbers, gender, employment, education, etc.). But nowhere do I see birthday listed. Oh well, it's certainly not the end of the world...I still know my real birthday. :) Thanks again for trying to help.

Is it too late?

Hi all.... I'm new to this board and hoping to find some people that understand my situation and tell me if they think its too late for me.

I'm 64 years old... and a great grandmother, but I'm just a beginner with the Dr. Phil weight loss program.  I don't know what my current weight is, but 3 months ago I went to the hospital and weighed in at 388.5!!!  God has been good, because many would have had a heart attack carring all this weight around...... well until about 3 years ago.  Since then, I've become very, very sedintary.  I'm no longer able to walk more than just a few steps.  My legs will hold me, my feet are screaming but what stops me cold is I can't get my breath after just a few steps.  I have been diagnosed with COPD so though I'm on oxygen and inhalers during the day and use a C-Pap at night, I'm not going to see improvement unless I get rid of a LOT of weight.  I'm on the waiting list for Gastric Bypass Surgery in 6-8 months, but I'd like to get rid of some of this prior to doing that and if possibly do well enough that I can continue with a new life without the surgery.

I hope you will get yourself squared away before you become what I am today.

I'd love to have some encouragement if you can offer it.  Any stories of success out there?

Hugs,

Ishi
