This month

I won't be here on the first going on vacation so since yesterday was my last live group for the month we are doing the challenge also I got weighed then and I have lost 24# this month :) as of last week it was 6" but will measure for last time end of month because I can take tape measure with me just not my scale LOL but wanted to share with you all. I know Aug. may not be this much because when you first get started again a lot is water weight but I'm excited and ready to start the Aug. Challenge hope you are all in it with me.   Here is something I have been doing this month don't know if I already told you guys or not LOL I have been writing a lot and thinking, but this is how I think of my fat. It really helps me to visualize things in pictures maybe that is the artist side of me LOL but I just keep picturing it burning off and melting right off my body. I see my body like a train and right now it is moving along at a really good clip. I really visualize this LOL I know nuts LOL but for me it works. Just like when you start a cold train you put the coal in and stock the furnace and the train starts chugging off going a little faster as it builds up steam you poor on more coal and it burns hotter and faster and as long as you keep putting the right coal in it will continue to burn hot and (you will continue to lose the weight) the train will continue to go faster and better but if you eat things you shouldn't it is like poring cold water on that hot furnace and the fire will cool down and you will go slower and slower until you get the furnace built back up again. Until it is burning once again at maximum speed. So right now I don't want to slow that train (losing) down I want to keep burning at the max and to do that I have to only throw in healthy coal LOL. I just keep picturing it burning off and melting right off my body. I don't know if you saw my post where I said I see my body like a train and right now it is moving along at a really good clip. I really visualize this LOL I know nuts LOL but for me it works. Just like when you start a cold train you put the coal in and stock the furnace and the train starts chugging off going a little faster as it build up steam up poor on more coal and it burns hotter and faster and as long as you keep putting the right coal in it will continue to burn hot and (you will continue to lose the weight) the train will continue to go faster and better but if you eat things you shouldn't it is like poring cold water on that hot furnace and the fire will cool down and you will go slower and slower until you get the furnace built back up again until it is burning once again at maximum speed. Need to keep this train moving and burning to the Max. Jan

posts responce

Loretta, I have been working on Key one and two all month. I need to stay so on top of these keys and my thinking I can be so positive one min. and the next everything can change. Then I'm standing there wondering what happened. After lots of therapy LOL I can see where I use key one and didn't even know about key one back then LOL like with the S word we have talked about here on the board it is funny how so many of us have similar back grounds but I do NOT even allow myself to even go there any more as soon as a thought even slides to that side I say STOP and find other things to occupy my mind. Maybe this is why this subject even came up on the board because it got me thinking if I can do this in this area of my life really well then why can't I do it in the area of eating. So when I start to think negative just yell STOP and find other things to occupy my brain.   Millie I heard almost the same sermon you spoke of but it was a nurse and she also said that S was the ultimate in selfishness because not only were you thinking only of your own problems, you were ignoring all that God had in store for you in service to Him for the rest of your life, but added S begets S and they have proven that people who take this way out have children and family members who will also choose this method and did I want to do this for my boys? Well, of course not at the time I felt I would be doing everyone a favor so from that point on I have changed that thinking, thank you God.   Megan I love your dog   Rebecca I'm so glad to see you. You can e-mail me any time. I will be gone on vacation for a week but when I get back I will reply right away. We are leaving on Sun. if the creek don't rise as my grandma use to say. We have already had a couple things change our original plans so we will see Hugs Jan

have a great day

I hope you all have a terrific day. Millie, I do hope you are beating that infection and getting better. And I hope those little ones are better by now too, Ladies--nothing's worse than having one of your kids sick, eh? Megan, I love your little dog and I think you're getting the knack of this new board just fine--your posts are already creative. Amanda I'm so impressed with your last week's loss and your total--WOW! And Jan, you really did leave us eating your dust! Can anybody top that 24 lb.? Not me, for sure. But you are inspiring me once again to get back on track. Jen, I know you can eat those 2 meals out and stay on track--and if it's a kick in the butt you need, you just come here and tell us you ate sugar or lots of bad carbs or high fat and THE KICK WILL COME! LOL Haven't heard from our guys on the board lately--are you guys still with us? Hope so. Jeannie, I'm sure you'll like Minnesota--the people are so friendly and it's a great place to raise kids. My DH was born there as I said before and we've gone back lots of times, but he was from the northern part where it gets really cold. You'll have snow, but not the bitter cold they have in the northern part of the state. And if you don't have arthritis, winter's great--the change of seasons is something I'll miss for sure and it's so pretty to see the snow falling, to see it glistening on the mountaintops, or to just listen to the stillness of a quiet night (snow seems to muffle sounds). I'm thinking you may learn to love it. I don't mean to leave anybody out here--just running out of time (AGAIN). I would love to discuss Key 1 as I really have a lot of trouble with that--I need to keep talking the positive talk to convince myself to walk the walk, so even when I sound positive here it doesn't necessarily mean I'm DOING it--just that I'm struggling to start THINKING positive as that's where it all begins. Cindy, if I got up at 5 a.m. the LAST thing I'd want to do is exercise--kill somebody is more like it at that hour (not really). The only thing in my life that EVER got me up at 5 a.m. was flying--yes, before I was married I was a pilot and I LOOOOOOOOOVE to fly. I'd get up at 5 and get in the car heading to the airport so I could be up as soon as the sun came up before there were any bumps in the sky. Early morning flying is the smoothest EVER and I'd go for a couple hours over some deserted field somewhere and just practice loops and turns and stalls and chandelles, etc. SOOOOOOOOO fun! I used to say as soon as the kids were grown I'd go back to flying (it's an expensive hobby) but now they're grown and we still don't have that kind of money. But then my interests have changed now too. Maybe it's still in my future somewhere, but it's not a driving passion any more. We all change with time. About the S word being selfish--you can say that again and again and again. So often I've been with people left behind and they are ALL left with guilty feelings wondering what they might have done to have prevented it, what they did wrong, or why they weren't there for that person. It eats people up. And it's so destructive. PLUS, one thing I didn't know before--at least around here it's the FAMILY MEMBERS who get to clean up the scene. Yes, the police or coroner come for the body itself, but a good friend's dad shot himself and after the body was gone, it was her brother who had to go back into the house and scrub brains off the wall. Yes, that's icky to even think about, but they couldn't afford to hire someone to do it (what kind of job is that anyway?) and so he had to do it so his mom could move back into the house after the funeral (nobody could stay there until it was cleaned up and even then, they sold it soon afterwards). It is so very selfish and really affects everybody left behind. But, like Jan, when I was there it was because I thought everybody would be better off--it's that kind of stinkin' thinkin', that twisted PLEASER? mentality that, I believe, many people sink into when they consider suicide. So it's very important to get that Key 1 under control--learn it well because our lives depend on it in more ways than one.

Well, after that novel, now I have to run--late to work again and still have to shower and tidy up!!

Cherie

test

They need a new emoticon for "curious" as that's what I feel a lot of the time. I just had to test this little guy.

Well, that didn't work AGAIN. My cut, copy and paste features are half-tone and not functional. WHY, MODERATOR?

CHERIE  If there was ever a reason to stay in the world that would be it.  I can't ever imagine being so selfish to leave my body parts on purpose for family to clean up!  YUCK!  That was inspirational to stay focused!

Cool

Jan, I clapped my hands and almost started to cry when I read your news.  WOW!  I love that train imagery and actually didn't realize that I kind of see it that way, too.  Like last night when I had some ice cream and a brownie, I knew I was throwing water on my coal fire, but the difference is, it wasn't mindless like my eating in the past.  I have a treat every now and then, but somehow I am able to skip it for a few days too.  It's been wonderful.  But I am so very proud of you and how you have just turned this whole thing around and gotten going again.  It takes a lot of perseverence, patience, and strength.  We all want our weight to melt off over night and when we put on more and have to re-lose it, like me, it's hard to come back, but oh so worth it.  Congratulations, you Orient Express!  Here's to breaking new records!

My infection is gone.  I had three different IV antibiotics, a powerful cocktail.  Now I'm "just weak, like little kittens" as Mammy said in Gone With the Wind.  Hattie McDaniel was and incredible person.  Did you ever see her acceptance speech for her Oscar?  What a special lady.

Oh Cindy????  Did you behave yourself this morning and stay off that scale????  It was hard for me, but once I ate breakfast, the temptation was gone.

Love,  Millie

Exercise & Skin

Lifting weights, aerobic workouts, and stretching all benefit skin, the largest organ of the body.

Exercise increases circulation, which increases delivery of nutrients to skin cells and speeds removal of damaging toxins, especially surface contaminants like cigarette smoke, air pollution, and even certain chemicals in hair spray, deodorant, and shower gels.

Exercise gives skin the optimum conditions for making collagen support fibers. Fibroblasts, the collagen-producing cells in the skin, become fewer in number and lazier with age so skin becomes less firm, drier, and more wrinkled. Exercise infuses skin cells with oxygen and nutrients.

Exercise mediates the production of testosterone-related hormones such as DHEA and DHT, a major part of acne flare-ups, androgenic hair loss, and stress.

Exercise increases sweating, which in turn can unclog pores and have a positive effect on breakouts.

Certain exercises can break up pockets of cellulite which forms when fibrous connections in skin are pulled tighter creating those puckering pockets of fat. Toning and pulling the muscles with Pilates or weight training reverses that tension because a well toned muscle is more pliable.

Exercise relaxes your whole body, including the muscles in your face. Eventually crow's feet and anger expression lines soften up.

Exercise gives a rosy pink glow, as compared to a yellow-green or ashen grey cast, to the skin.

If you are properly hydrating during exercise you will get better blood flow to the skin. This encourages the elimination of toxins that would otherwise accumulate in the skin cells, especially for those who overindulge in alcohol, drugs, and / or junk food.

The effects of facial exercises, beauty calisthenics, are temporary at best and may cause you to develop more lines and creases from overusing certain facial muscles.

A fun idea

Hi everyone,

*Lately I have been working on my new strategies, and I remembered a fun site that I have decided to incorporate into my Plan. It is "Get Fit on Route 66". You just keep track of all your minutes of activity for each day, whatever kind, and it will automatically convert them into miles. You are taking a virtual trip from Michigan to Santa Monica, a 10 week program. I like this simple kind of fun incentive; and I remember that Steve, TheFatManWalking.com, is partially following Route 66, only coming from west to east.

* I recall how ridiculously proud of myself I was when I earned my first ever Active Lifestyle Award from the PresidentsChallenge.com site. Sheesh, you'd think I had won the lottery! I printed it out, covered it a page protector and hung it up! ha ha ha ha ha. So, I know I will enjoy traveling Route 66. My kind of hokey fun! ;-)

*For anyone interested, just go to aarp.getfitonroute66.com

* Enjoying the Journey,Loretta=^..^=
