I thought it might be interesting and insightful to have a place to ask the opinions and advice of the opposite sex. Sometimes in order to deal with a problem with the opposite sex, we need to understand how they think and why they think that way. I think we could all benefit from this topic. So let's start learning about each other.

First Question to the men out there.

I am confused. Most men that I talk to say that they don't like their women to wear alot of make-up, they like the "natural" look. So why do most of the advertisements geared toward men, show sexy women with more make-up on than most women would ever wear in real life? The people that make the advertisements must have done research on what men like and what would work best to market their product, so why is it the opposite of what I hear most men say? Also most porn stars and models are thick with make-up, so if men find the more natural looking woman sexier, then why is this?

Well, there is a difference between a professional artist putting on lots of make-up on a model and a regular gal piling on the makeup.  I think the consensus would probably be that guys like a girl that looks good natural as well, over a girl that tries to glob on makeup.  Besides, it just sounds like something you wanna hear, and there is a little truth to that.  It can also be that you're a girl that spends to much time in front of the mirror, so guys will just tell you that to limit the wait time.

Hi turk! No, it's not what I want to hear and no I'm not one to spend alot of time in the mirror, you are wrong on both counts.  I just wondered because the whole "I like natural looking women, with minimal make-up" and the "I like the hot model with all that make-up" seems like an oxymoron to me.

well, that model looks hot without makeup, too.  I didn't mean it is something that you specifiacally want to hear, I meant it sounds like a compliment.  Like they like a girl for their natural beauty rather than what they paint themselves up to look like.  I would think a girl would like to hear thatthey look beautiful without the makeup.  Usually when a guy says that, it's right after a girl says they didn't have time to put on any makeup.

Ok, I think I smell what you're steppin' in. And yes, it is considered a compliment and I do like hearing that, but I don't NEED to hear it, because I feel comfortable with or without make-up. So I'm still just as confused as I was before. Why does the media market women with tons of make-up, when they are so beautiful that they don't need it in the first place? ESPECIALLY if it's true that men like a natural looking woman. I mean models are the LAST people that need to wear make-up. Sorry, but I still don't get it.

I don't think it's just said as a compliment to someone because my x used to have the hots for Martha Stewart, Helen Hunt, and Uma Thurman, because they didn't wear much make-up.

To be honest, yes most models are very pretty to look at but not all of them are drop dead gorgeous without all that make up. If they didnt have all that paint on their faces the product wouldnt sell as quickly because a lot of people buy for the "hopes" of being like the person wearing the product. In other words, if I was wearing the latest victoria secrets line and flashing it all over the tv there is no way in heck they are going to sell over a million pieces ....if any at all, anyway I think you get the idea.
