I would first like to thank Dr.Phil for providing us a board to discuss our understanding of the bible.

Here you have the opportunity to share with other Christians your thoughts and understandings of bible teachings.  If you have recently become a Christian and have questions, you can ask folks here who have been studying and researching for some time.  Most Christians believe that the bible was inspired by God and is a source of information for us.  Because of the passing of time, the different languages it has been translated from and other issues it isn't an easy book to learn from.

The bible is often called The Book of Life because whatever your concern is there is almost always an answer for you.

I would suggest that this board be used to Share.   If your desire is to Debate, there are other boards herein to fill the bill for you.   If you want to Debate about other religions I suggest you find another board herein.

This can be a fun place to kick back and help us all grow in our belief and understanding.

The way I got over it is I remembered that all my mom wanted to do was go to heaven...she had a hard life on earth...But she ate very healthy, never smoked, never drank,ever....and I guess what bothered me was cancer is such a degrading sickness Cause my mom always wore a  makeup always dressed nice was a very proud woman and it just seemed to me that she should not have had to die so degrading and in pain...and I guess I thought since God knew how much she loved him and how much hardship she had in life that he would have let her die with the digmety that she deserved and no pain......But I know that she is happy now and that is all that is important......

Yea my dad smoked and he did not die of cancer..it doesn't figure....my mom bless her heart worried alot but she had reason...Back when I was 16 (I am 46 now) I had a sister killed by a serial killer....they did eventully find him 30yrs later...and it was after my mom died so she never got to know that he was caught...and she worried about that and all of us kids.....so I do believe stress had a big part in her cancer.....

Hi ALL

was just browsing the boards and thought I would say hi, I glanceed over some of the messages, don;t really know what to say at the moment,LOL. Just wanted to say hi to some familar names here as wella s to some new one. I actually have that crazy flu going around, this household has had enough sickness for htis seasin, that's for sure!  When I am over this stuff, I am going to be doing some major sanitizing, gtting these yukky germs out of here, :)

As far as this being the end times, I do believe that but of course our timing is so differnet then God's timing, seems like people has been saying this for years and I am sure to some, it does't make any sense, but one thing I know is that I believe it is going to happen, may not be in my life time, but it is going to happen, Our God is coming back to gather His people which I believe will be an awesome experience. :)

Drillsarge, read your testimony about the cancer, God is good and He takes care of us and of course we have to allow Him to and trust in Him, I believe he knows the exact time that each of us are to be leaving this earth and because we live in a crazy earthly world, bad things, sickness and whatever else is going to happen to but if it isn't time for us to leave this earth, God is not going to allow that to happen, he has a plan for each of us and until His plan is accomplished through us, I don't think we are going any where, it's all in his timing.

I will always believe that, when my uncle was born back in the 40s he was born with with down syndrom (my granny never would agree to that) but we all knew and loved him tremendously and by the time he was 11 he got polio twice and coulnd't walk or talk ...and the drs said he would not live to be 14, well he did not die till he was 47.......it was so great having him in our family even though he could not talk or walk he was a great hugger and he loved seeing us kids and he could sure laugh which he did all the time....even though he had all these problems he was the happiest person I knew and he helped me learn so much about disabled people and about being happy no matter what cause things could always be worse....another thing my mom always said to me was that God never gives you more than you can handle....even though it seems like there is alot to handle sometimes I do believe that......Have a good day....
Also my granny took care of him by herself till he died and she was in her 80s...but he was her baby and she did not trust any body else with him....and when he died she really did not feel that she had anything else to live for and exactly 5yrs later she died and the wierd thing at her funeral my mom told her that she would see her in 5yrs and she died 5yrs later pretty weird huh......

Well like I said, my faith, beliefs and my God isn't up for debate so for me personlly it's just a waste of my time over there. and I am finding that out on a lot of debate subjects, I didn;t realize until I started getting on these boards on how judgemental women/mom's can be, quite sad actually but that's another subject/board,LOL.

That wouldn't surprise me about the abstince thing, and they wonder why parents are not wanting to use the public school system, it's becoming more political then education and we are pulling our kids right into it. If it isn't politically correct, then it must be wrong, blah! I will continue to teach biblical values and Christian teachings to my children and I will make sure that the teachings within my home are backed up within their education, for now, My oldest is in a small Christian school within our own denomination and all is going well, but I would not hesitate to pull her out and start homeschooling if I felt that the school was there to demean me as a parent. 911, well, I honeslty don't know what to say there really, but whatever the case, we do need to pull together as a Country and nation to stop acts like this, we may not be able to stop it 100% but surely, security can be tight and 100% effort put forth to keep people safe.

And we have to remember that so much has been prophesied int he scriptures, I think it is possible for things to shape up and all, and I beleive that we as citizens need to everything in our power to make things as right as they can be but yet at the same time, eventually, things are not gonna be pretty at all and for those of us who know our Father in Heaven and are striving to stay within his plan and will, will most definetly reap the good which is another reason to let our light shine, be Christ with our actions, not just our words, we need to be open and allow him to speak through us and not get caught up in "debating" the ways of the world, we may be in the world and imperfect but we do nt have to do as others and we have a God who will guide and direct us, even when we do fail, Better to have him backing me up then some politically correct thinking minds.

Soap box? LOL, I htink we all have them, LOLLLLL
I was just talking to my daughter, shortly after I posted and some how we got on the subject of what she wanted to be when she grows up, she told me she wants to  grow up and be a wife, when I asked her why she wanted to be a wife, she siad so she could have a baby and be a mommy too. LOL I looked at her and asked, but what if you became a mommy before you got a husband, and her respnse was, " mommy, Jesus teaches us to be married first and that's what I am going to do," I of course hugged her and told her that I hope she always thinks that way and to remember that Jesus has a special plan for you and if he wants you to get married and have a baby that will happen when it is suppose to but right now, you need to concentrate on being a little girls and have fun growing up, do your best in school and be kind. And she responded by saying ok mommy and went we wnt back to cooking dinner and having fun.

Yep, teaching abstinence is a good thing and though it is possible for our kids to grow up and make mistakes, what we teach them will always stick, she is 6 years old and has that concept down, she may not understand it fully and we cannot predict the future but I do believe we are on the right track here and I also want her to get the concept of love down,t hat no matter what happens in her life, we will always love and do our best to guide her.

Just another two cents worth here, but gotta go get the 4 year old's hair washed, and both of them into bed, and then it's off to do another load of laundry, which I only have about 4 to put away,LOL and get the kitchen cleaned up, hopefullyhubby gets home soon, I do not like the late nights at work, I want him home.

have a nice evening.............

I don't understand...since I'm not a Christian I am not allowed to post here? My first post was a bit hostile, I admit, but my second post was perfectly civil and a legitimate question that is on topic.

Christian Discussion on Understanding

Quote From: leah1991

It is no secret that Christians are only welcomed on debate boards to have someone to tear into.

Hey! You noticed that too. I don't understand how people get so ruffled when you tell them Jesus loves them and forgives their sin and died for them. He's the good guy and they get all bent out of shape over that. I love discussing religion but on the religious debate board it gets hard because I don't think most people there have a genuine interest in Christianity when they start drilling you with questions. Rather it is more like an interrogation and they are doing everything they can to find fault with something you say.

You gotta love em anyway though. ;-)

"I don't understand how people get so ruffled when you tell them Jesus loves them and forgives their sin and died for them."

You think THAT makes people ruffled?

And what is with the persecution complex? That is something I'd like understanding on. LOL...Like I said, Marie has the nerve to answer the questions, admit when she doesn't have an answer and doesn't gloat when she's "right" about something. It's her demeanor that makes the difference. Cheryl too, for the most part is a good example of this too. So is Fredi. So it's not a Christian thing...ok?

"I don't think most people there have a genuine interest in Christianity when they start drilling you with questions. Rather it is more like an interrogation and they are doing everything they can to find fault with something you say."

It's a genuine interest for me. Those questions I ask I really want answers to, because I don't get some things, and other things I don't get how others can truly believe it.

I would say if your religion is correct it could stand the test of questions.

Christianity isn't outside being questions and scrutinized.

Asking a stupid question like if I believe plants are "living", Seems to me that you are trying to bait me for something. I don't see that as genuine curiosity.

And what makes you think I am gloating about something. I am very curious about that. You are reading text on a computer screen and you imagine that you can see my face and pick up my attitude and everything. Wow, you are amazing. I wish I had that ability except yours is a little off. You have imagined me quite wrong.

I agree that everything can be questioned and scrutinized.

But who has the persecution complex? Did you assume that I was talking about you in this post. You are not the only person I have talked to or debated with Penny. You shouldn't assume every post is about you or directed at you.
