Howdy y'all!

Hi, My name is Robin, I live in the northwest Valley of Metro Phoenix Arizona and I have been a member on two other boards since 9/2004. First one of the diabetes boards, then was invited to join the Over 50 w/ more than 50 to lose. Unfortunately, the blackout earlier this summer kind of hurt our numbers so we are trying to regroup with others and this board was highly recommended to us.

Hi, Jazz.....Donna.....Heat.....Susie.....Hope you all made it in here!

I just spent more than 7 months with a seriously fractured ankle which sidelined me big time. Finally I was put into a chacot cast in June, which was removed only last week. Right now I am in the process of getting my legs and feet to work normally again, so I can return to WALKING! Things are going pretty well.

Second bit of news....my roommate just got hired in a new job, so hopefully things will go well and he will begin paying his share again. I just might be able to celebrate Christmas this year with gifts. :-)

I'm heading to Alaska in about 3 weeks to spend 10 days with my son's family, including meeting my new granddaughter for the first time. They just sold their home so will be moving during the same time I am there....I love it! Total chaos and I get the full time job of being grandma to my two babies! I cannot wait!!

Very nice to be here....I will try to read the recent posts so I can get a handle on who is here, sometime this weekend.

Love and Good thoughts,

Robin

Robin

Welcome to you Miss Arizona. Nice to see you here. Sounds like you've been through a lot with your fractured ankle. Glad the cast is off and you'll be gradually increasing your mobility. Alaska in 3 weeks to see your son's family and new baby grand daughter. Looks like you have a nice trip to look forward to. Nice time to have that cast off too!

Have a good weekend.

Weekend Warriors (((winking)))

Hello everybuddy just popping in quickly to give you all a hound dog howdy. Nice to see everybuddy here and I do mean everybuddy.

Shirley- SUPERMARKET SKILLS  yes missy I'm glad you brought those up. Speaking of starting from the beginning.....there you go.....right on.  It starts at home!!! Eat before making your list out and going to the store. Absolutely right.  Yes, eat before going to the store.  Yes, spend less time 1 or 2 twice a week get what you need at the store. Spend less time there and more time exercising! Tee hee. Plan your meals..........this I don't do.........but I do have usually 2 choices to select from each day. Then I can see what everybody wants to eat and away we go

glad to see you are being careful with your physical limitations. That's important. Do what you can do and carefully. ((((winking))))

Cindy- GREAT LOSS 25 lbs and kept it off over the past 2 yrs. CONGRATULATIONS and we are always glad to see you come to the board .............2 to 3 times a week is fantastic. Nice to see you.

Susie-Hey, thanks for welcoming Robin on the board. That's always nice to be welcomed and recognized. You have a great weekend as well.

Everybuddy else- hi there..........if you are on the board reading that's great too. Have a good day and weekend. Hope you are doing well on program if not if you feel comfortable come on board an chat a bit.  If not that's okay just keep coming and reading you may pick up a tip or two!(((winking))

SERVE IT RIGHT TO KEEP PORTIONS LITE.

Even when you know the right amount of food to eat, habits or even simply the sight and smell of food can help keep you coming back for more.  Now that you have learned a clearer picture of portion sizes, it's time to tackle some portion-control strategies.  When serving foods, try to:

- Eat from dishes, not containers or bags.  This will help you break the habit of eating portions based on the size of the container rather than on true hunger.

- Do not keep serving dishes, bowls, or platters on the table during meals.  If the food is right there, it's easy to take a few bites more.  The key is to portion out your foods before bringing them to the table.  If this isn't possible, put serving dishes at the other end of the table.

- Use smaller plates, bowls, and glasses to make your portions look larger.  For example, put your food on a salad plate instead of a dinner plate.

More to follow later today.......

Hugs, Shirley

Sloooooooow board!

Good grief! Talk about a SLOW board today!

I have been up to my earballs in near misery the last two days, but it is starting to sort itself out.  Food still out of control. Weigh-in is tomorrow and I WILL, just to be accountable. It will be depressing.

I had difficulty with the contractor the last two days but it turned out fine. I may have to leave for Florida before my building is finished though. I hope I don't have to do that but I CAN get a neighbor to lock up everything for me.

Thanks for being here every buddy!!!!!! I neeeeeed youuuuuuuu!

I WILL begin to read UWS again tomorrow. Thanks for the assignment! I always do well when "assigned" something to accomplish. NOW somebuddy assign me my next 2 pound weight loss! PLEASE!!! <G>

Lots of love,

GIRLS WEIGHT LOSS IS TOUGH BUT DOABLE

Hi girls, been reading all the posts - we have just got back from a weekend away and for once i did not blow my diet, i made some conscious decisions not to have sweets and made good choices at the restaurants we went to.  when i got home i went walking at the pool for half an hour when i really wanted to sit on the couch.  do you know what motivated me this weekend, the board and the fact that is want it to keep going, i want to see you ladies post and i want all of us to be the best we can be.  I took Dr Phils book with me and sat and read it in the early hours of this morning while d/h was snoring his socks off!!!!! you can't get away from that sound in a motel room i can tell you.  he flatly denied it this morning too.  Lol.   I guess snoring is universal, gathering from what my friends say it is alive and well in Australia.

Anyway everybuddy we can do it.  The suggestion for making the board more structured is great, I really enjoyed reading the beginning chapters of Dr Phils book and it had not opened it in ages until it was suggested.  I weigh in tomorrow for my mini challenge  with Jacki so i hope to have lost. I hope you are all going well and making good choices.  I can say i have found over the past three weeks i feel better because i am exercising even though it is only walking in the water for half an hour a day, i feel i am making progress and it seems to help with stress or any depression that starts to creep in.

Hugs Neecy

I am now assigning you to lose two pounds in the next week, you have to lose it by making wise food choices, there are no short cuts here Raven, you are not allowed to carve two pounds off your body with the kitchen knife,  you are not allowed to remove part of an arm or leg, just straight good food choices, you are not allowed to shave your head in the hope it will remove two pounds, no no no no no... just exercise and diet.  Hugs Neecy
