My very first weight post! UGH! Also, MY ADMISSION

Hi, I guess I have to look at today as a beginning, but in actuality, I'm a bit too depressed to be that positive.  After losing over 50 pounds, I am almost back at my peak.  The last time I lost the weight, there were no "boards" and no WLC book.  I did it with the inspiration of Dr. Phil and his incredible words and demeanor.

You see, I was one of the people in the audience that Dr. Phil spoke to at his second "Get Straight With Your Weight" Program three years ago.  I was the lady who had done everything to lose weight INCLUDING wiring my mouth shut.  I had ended up in Dr. Phil's audience, just hoping for some inspiration so I wouldn't have to go for gastric bypass surgery.  I was lucky enough to be able to speak to him during that taping.  When he said, "It stops here NOW," I shook to the core!  He asked the right questions and somehow I heard him.

For over a year afterwards and even after he started the WLC shows, I was on track.  Whenever I felt stressed or wanted to eat, I would ask myself, "Are you hungry?" And when the answer was, "no," which it invariably was, I would  run to the computer to write about it. My journaling helped break the cycle.  From there I was able to discover that I could replace the eating with something a great deal more positive.  That was my start, speaking with Dr. Phil, asking the right questions, questioning my thinking and replacing the behavior.

What happened?  I'm not quite sure. I am so embarrassed I want to cry. I had this amazing opportunity and ...???....????

What I do know is that this time, when the stress is overwhelming and I want to eat my feelings away, I'll come here; I'll read; I'll go to the chat room.  Thank you all for being here and for making me feel safe enough to say that my stats are 206/191/130.

And my real name is Ellen.  My story can be found at http:/drphil.com/show/show/26/
I'm the lady in the red jacket.

You are posting at just the right time. We are currently reviewing Key 7 "Your Circle of Support" This is the key that puts the whold program together for us. Yes we can make lifestyle changes on our own and nany (many) choices are ours alone to make BUT we need support and we need to make that a part of our lifestyle change-- not until the weight comes off but for a lifetime (LIFSTLE XXthat (lifestyle- implies a lifetime committment to me. I think finding a support group I can truly be honest with is helping me accept my choices good or bad as MY CHOICES. Otherwise I kid myself into thinking I have not made such wrong choices. The WOWs keep me on task and honest with myself. Your input will help us all-- thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

Getting There

At the bottom of each page is the number that you are on. Try going to newest, then highlighting  the page you were on last. Voila-it brings you close to where you were last reading.

I have been alone for about three days now, and the novelty of doing my own thing is beginning to wear off. Eating when bored or alone were two of my triggers, and I am trying everything to keep away from hoof to mouth syndrome.

This morning I felt terribly bloated, and in fact the scales reflected that. The weather is not great for exercise today-could only complete 10 minutes jogging. Did walk the dog, and cleaned up some hedge branches in the back yard, but still feel "puffy".

I am not in on the Monday reporting, but will put my stats in so that others will know how I am doing.     Laineybea    189/177/155

MONDAY WEIGH IN...........

Good afternoon everyone,  I hope this post comes off in a place that MAC can find and see my stats for today.   I am still seeing posts show up that I had not read before.  At first the board was starting at the very beginning (CONNIE's 1st post on new Bd.) and now it is showing the last ones first.   Oh well, no problem, I will get the hang of it soon enough.  I had a good day with my mom.  She had a denist appointment for a filling and we went grocery shopping.  The heat was terrible;she did great for someone 89.  The good news is STATS for today are :      205/180.5/160  THIS IS A 2 POUND LOSS.  This new board is a new beginning for all of us.  We will all give support to each other just as we have always done.   We must NOT think we can do this on our own.  WE CANNOT or we would have already been successful in losing weight.  Even the strongest and most determined can fall short of their goals without support and understanding.   If someone gains, and comes to our Monday weigh in and tells us of her gain, she needs support, not judgment.   WE have ALL .......Been There;Done That.........so we understand.   The fact that MAC set up this Monday weigh in is the best thing that could have happened for me because as I have stated before I am the Queen of Denial.   I will post my weight(good or bad) each Monday from now on.  It keeps me honest with you and with myself.  Thank you all for being here and helping me on this journey toward living a full and successful life in my *Sensational 60's*.   It is never too late for anything in life.  Girls, we've only just begun to live..........So on with Key 7..........CIRCLE OF SUPPORT....We are surrounded by supportive, like-minded people who want to lose weight & succeed at health and fitness efforts.~~~~~~~208/180.5/160~~~~~~~HUGS TO ALL, Carolyn
