The story continues with Alex, a 14-year-old girl who moved into The Dr. Phil House with her mom, grandmother and aunt. Alex’s family asked Dr. Phil to intervene because they couldn’t stop Alex from prostituting herself to older men. Dr. Phil confronts Alex’s aunt, Enza, and her mother, Kim, about how their venomous relationship is affecting Alex and leading her to turn to men for comfort. Enza apologizes for her behavior with Alex, and finds a new ally in the house, against Kim’s mother, Jeanette. Jeanette overhears a discussion about her and angrily informs Kim that she will find a new place to live. After confiscating Alex’s cell phone, Kim listens to a voicemail from an older man, trying to contact Alex for sex. Private investigator, Harold Copus, meets with Alex and gets information on the older men she says she’s been with, so they can be taken off the streets. On their last day in the House, Dr. Phil breaks the news to Alex that she won’t be returning home with her family. Find out where she’s going and what makes her break down in tears. Then, talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

update

hey..what ever happened.. I thought thy we were supposed to see a follow-up on this show. I think that the aunt is a trouble maker, the grandmother is right...she doesn't have a full leg to stand on. Maybe she SHOULD move out...( but not too far away). Maybe then the family might appreciate what she has to offer. The kids could learn alot from her, and I don't blame her for being hurt. And, maybe the mother just needs some time to re-group and figure out how SHE could invest in her family,

01/22 The Dr. Phil House: Teen Intervention, Part 3

Quote From: andilk

I tuned in Monday, Jan. 29 & was surprised that episode 4 was not being shown.  Does anyone know why?  My comments on Enza--very poisonous to Alex & family--nothing more then a vindictive, drama queen..  If I were Kim, I'd kick her to the curb & get a restraining order against her.   I would not allow her around my children.  Did I hear Dr. Phil correctly?  Did he tell Enza he was going to get her help, too, 'cause Alex needs her in her life?  Enza is the last person Alex needs in her life.  I think Enza is beyond help & Dr. Phil needs to take a long vacation, to rethink his advice.
I couldn't agree with you more.  I think Enza is completely toxic and needs to get the hell away from that family!

Thanks!

The actual name of the school was not mentioned, I believe it was one of the Aspen schools. You can find out more about their programs here:  http://www.aspeneducation.com/

The name of the facility is Academy of the Sierras

This has been raised quite a number of times. Enza's brother is Alex's father. But there must be something very unfortunate that has occured here because the issue has been remarkably overlooked by everyone including Dr. Phil.

I have found this on wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspen_education

"Unlike the programs in the other categories, Treatment centres in the Weight Loss Division do not allow client to arrive by the use of a Teen escort company. At least they state so on their homepage. Instead the parents ask for a series of phonecalls from staff, which should persuade the detainee to attend the programs. However, a participant on a Dr. Phil show was sent there by the use of a Teen escort company  with the permission of the participant's guardians."

Good for you!

Quote From: courage2change

Dr. Phil, Kim, Enza and Alex,

Thank you for your courage and strength. I saw myself in Enza. I saw what toxicity I was bringing to my family. That is me and my nieces and nephews and siblings and mother.

I have been going through a deep healing and focusing on myself. I was a martyr. I pointed out everyone else's flaws. I even would belittle their parents behind and in front on them. I still can do this but I more often keep my mouth shut.

I have changed. I am still working one day at a time to keep the focus on me. I see now that I can't protect them from pain or hurt. I can stop from adding more to their lives. There is a long line of addiction and abuse in our family. Let the healing begin with me.

I am thrilled to find an entry of positive change in the world resulting from this story!  Thank you for sharing your story!  It takes a strong person to come out here and identify with the people in these shows, instead of just criticizing them.  In fact, I dare say people like you are why Dr Phil does this show!  Thank you so much and God bless you in your efforts for your family's health!

Types of Abuse

While I can't help but feel that Enza's intentions really are good, it is obvious that there is a form of abuse going on, here.  I am wondering if anyone can please tell me the name of this form of abuse?  Wherein Enza traps Alex alone, and verbally bashes her mother?

Does it occur to you that you should not be divulging this information?  For Alex's safety??

I'm confused. None of the information that the poster posted was even remotely private. It's all publicly accessible, and I can't see anything in it that would place any risk on Alex.

We already knew where Alex was going - Dr. Phil gave the name of the organization on the show, and it was included in the "more about this episode" pages on this site.

We already knew that Alex went through a teen intervention program - we saw the intervention as it was taking place. That's what the whole show was about.

We already knew that they had a weight program - Dr. Phil mentioned it on the show, and that's what it says on the organization's website.

We knew that they don't normally take people through interventions - that's what it says on the organization's website.
