Bren,

I need help! I have been eating healthy for almost 3 weeks now since I started reading the book and listening to the audio of the book and I am finished w/ the book, I understand the whole concept. I am exercising as well...I got on my scale this morning and am not losing an ounce. That is so depressing!

I go so angry that I thru my scales and broke them. Now I was reading the very end of the book last night about being weight loss resistant and I am wondering if I fall into that catagory because I am on BP meds and I do take thyroid meds, and high cholestoral meds. I am going to see a thyroid specialist in Sept to see maybe what is going on. Wish I could of gotten an appointment sooner but that is all they had. This specialist is a diabetic doctor as well. HELP I am ready to just chuck it and say FORGET IT!!!!!

Kim, I know it is frustrating to be eating right and exercising and not losing weight.  I think seeing the doctor can help.  I am also on thyroid medication and on other medication and it was hard for me to lose weight in the beginning.  I asked my primary care doctor for a referal to a Dietian and am now able to see a Dietian with my insurance.  You might see if that is a possibility for you.  It wasn't until I started working with a Dietian that I really started to lose weight.  She helps me with my eating plans and exercise plans for each month and then we modify each month as I see her once a month.  I am losing about 4 pounds a month.  She says that I could lose more if I exercised more or ate less, but this is a steady rate for me and I am losing consistently and keeping it off, so I am happy with the results.  I also still follow Dr. Phil's 7 Keys as far as things like Right Thinking and Healing Feelings.  I also still check this message board every day.  I hope that this is helpful.  Good luck to you.   Take care! :) Bren

Hi Brenda

Hi Brenda

How are you? I am ok....I am still eating right and this is my second week of walking and still no weight loss but I will not give up...I go on the 3rd of next month to see a thyroid specialist to see what may be going on??? I walked 5 days last week and yesterday I walked 2 miles and today I walked 2.5 miles...

I seen on the web sight that his weight loss show starts the 20th so that means I wasn't chosen from my video that I sent in and the questions they had me to answer, but I will keep trying...

Have a good day

Kim

Hi Kim, It is great that you are walking and eating healthy.  I have heard that is good for your health to exercise and eat healthy even if you do not see weight loss results immediately, just keep up with your program.  I am sorry if you are disappointed that you did not get chosen for Dr. Phil's show, however, do not get discouraged.  I would not want to lose weight on television anyway--it would be too much pressure. I went to my Dietian's Office and weighed in and my weight was exactly the same as it was a month ago.  I am going to try harder with eating less cereal and doing more exercise.  I don't have stairs in this apt., so it means that I need to go outside and walk around the apts. on days that I don't otherwise exercise.  Have a great day!  Take care! :) Bren

Hi Brenda,

Guess what I went to curves today and did the 30 min circut workout before I went to work today. I was going in the spring and no results so I gave up and stopped going but I am back to it. Do you actually count calories? I know in the dr. phil book it says not to count calories, just use the plate method. I don't think my insurance  would pay for a dietian, wish they would.

i would love to get that lap band surgery.

Keep in touch....

Kim

Hi Kim, It is great that you went to Curves.  A lot of people on the Dr. Phil message board go to Curves and have gotten great results.  They also really like the support of the other people at Curves.  I do not like the idea of surgery.  Of course, it is an individual decision.  I think that one still has to eat right and exercise after the surgery and it is better to have a healthy lifestyle without surgery.  I do count calories.  I actually count points--similar to Weight Watcher's points--where 75 calories is a point.  My Dietian wants me to eat 25 points or less per day which is 1875 calories or less per day.  I record my food records and points in a food journal along with an exercise report for my Dietian to see each month.  Keep up the great work you are doing at Curves and with your walks!  Have a great day!  Take care! :) Bren

Hey to everyone

Its been awhile since I have been on, i have been getting my daughter off to college and my other kids into school and it has been a pretty full time situation. I am doing good at exercising and I am so excited . I had to buy new pants and was so sure I was going to be in the plus size 20 something or other. and since I am tall finding pants can be a challenge because for some reason the manufacturers think you are either short and fat or tall and skinny and no other combination of the two. Any way I went to try on some 18 w longs. they were too big =0) there was a ton of material and they were gapping at the waist. So I went to fine 16w longs. NONE!!  They had none at all. so I tried on some capris that were a 16 w and they fit pretty well. I was so excited! But couldn't find any pants after looking in two stores.

so the next day I went to my son's football game and wore the new capris. and as the game wore on my pants were getting bigger and loser and falling off of me. I didn't think much of it.

But later that day I took my daughter with me to try some other stores  to find some pants and again no luck. But then my daughter got a great idea. One I would not of thought of because I was usually in the plus area. She went to the junior side and got found some 16 longs ( no wide) and we tried  some 18 longs too. I fit in them!!!! YEAA!!!  No more wide. Ya hooo!!! and I am in a plain 16 again. ya hoo!!!! So that is my big happy story. I have no idea what I weigh because my scale broke about 6 months ago and I haven't replaced it yet. but I know I am no longer obsessing about what I lost that day. Just kind of goinf with how my clothes are  feeling for now. I am walking and watching how hungry I am as a gauge too. =0)

Hope everyone is doing well and we can hear from those of us that are checking in and reading like I have been. I look forward to your posts and of course bren you are a constant =0)

have a wonderful week

Debbie, Congrats on fitting in 16 Regulars again.  That is a great accomplishment.  My mom has lost weight recently and is out of the Womens and now wears 16 Regulars like you.  I hope your kids are enjoying the school year.  Take care! :) Bren
