We all need to remember that this is a weight loss journey, not a race.

Thanks for the reminder!

Gail

  Hello everyone,

Sounds like some of us are really making a difference in our overall health.  Way to Go!  Keep up the great work!  I'm just bummed because I can hardly stand with my back right now so exercising is on hold again!  However, I can still drink water and work on eating healthier.  GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.  JEWELS

0 Joy - From the Success Show

Though I'd post an NSV (Non-Scale Victory) for today.

My exercise buddy couldn't come this morning. I put in the 3 mile walking DVD and did it by myself. I'm not used to exercising alone, but I'm determined not to let anything get in the way of my exercise now.

Now, the other NSV sounds a little silly, but it really was a big deal to me. I have a mid-morning snack of nonfat plain yogurt flavored with Splenda and vanilla, but I've been throwing in a small handful of cereal to make it crunchy. I really love it that way. However, I decided last night that I need to drop the cereal because even though it's healthy food, it's an extra starchy carb that I haven't been counting (and don't have room for in my eating plan). So this morning I had smooth, creamy yogurt. I also enjoyed it more because I was proud of myself.

Like I said, it sounds silly, but it took a lot for me to initiate that change. I think it will make a difference in my weight loss effort in the long run.

Wow - You guys have been posting

Oh my, I can't believe how many posts there were to read.  That's awesome.  I only got through a page or two because I have to get going, so I'll have to come back and read the rest.

Quick replies:

Brenda - I hear ya on the teenager thing!  It's so hard.  Mine is on track right now and self motivating himself about cleaning his room, working on his scouting/working towards eagle and school work, but it took a lot of buckling down a few months ago.  I'm enjoying this phase much better!!

Gail and Megan - I'm doing ww online so I'm not attending meetings.  For whatever reason the points speak to me.  I enjoy counting them and keeping track.  I know exactly how much I can have.    The interesting thing for me is that I found out I wasn't eating enough when I was doing Dr. P.  No wonder I hit a plateau and got frustrated.  I've been choosing really good and healthy foods but I struggle to actually use up all of my points.  It's been very educational for me so far.

Well I'm out of time, it's gym day!

have a great day everyone!

Who's watching the biggest loser tonight????

Good evening

Hi

I am so glad to hear that so many are on project status. That is awsome. I did gain four pounds over christmas and have not lost it. I am working on it. I am eating healthier and working on making new recipes and making them healthie. Some times you get in a rut with eating and it gets boring so I am making it a goal to experiment. I have found several recipes that we like and I make them healthy. I made split pea soap in a crock pot for the first time and it was great and healthie.

I bought the biggest loser workout tape. ihave not done it yet.

Well I need to get some sleep

Take care

MElissa

Good Morning

I got all caught up on your posts now... you can post a bunch of new ones now :-)

Gail - congrats on working out without your buddy.  It makes a huge difference when you can do this for yourself and by yourself whenever you need to!!

Melissa - I bought the Biggest Loser dvd and I love it!  It's kind of funny.  I love that it is people that are still on their journey, still struggling with the moves.  There are some pretty funny lines in it.  One cool thing is that you can turn off the trainer's voice when you want to.  That way you don't have to listen to it once you have it memorized.  One of the things I loved is that it is easily adaptable.  I could do it, yet I can see how I can make it harder as I progress along.  It's currently my favorite dvd!!

But if you want one on the total other end of the spectrum... I bought my hubby Jillian's dvd because he said he'd want her to train him if we were ever on the show (no, we're not applying!!!).  He likes her because she's tough.  Oh yea, she's tough.  I almost had a heart attack just watching her dvd.

hey everyone

I've been a little busy lately, so I am sorry not to get back on sooner, but I did tape the biggest loser for the last two weeks and I love that show and I love how it changes people. To me it is amazing at how fast people can really lose, but then they are in a special environment too. I  love the theme song if you think about what it says " What have I done today to make me feel proud?"  I have a dear friend who laid it out on the line for me. she said, if you don't take care of you, no one will. She said  I know you have a great husband who loves you, but you have to take care of you and keep you healthy and make those choices just you to make a difference. She is right too. But I keep thinking of those two things... have I done anything to make me proud of me today?? and no one is going to take  care of me but me, so I need to really take care of me.

So guess what... I finally did it, I finally after a whole year, got my husband on board with me and he is now my partner. YEAH!!!!

I have been working my butt off when I go to physical therapy with Christian, who by the way has a lot more use and motion in his toe, the Lord is blessing him like crazy!!! but I work out in the new gym attached to physical therapy and beat my self on the ellipical and burn over 350 calories in 35 minutes, I push myself and make my self keep working hard. I do strenght training too. I have lost weight and am to at least 213 now. It is slow but I am going for it. I am still a bit inconsistant on exercise, and eating, but I get inspired by you and my fav show the biggest loser. I don't know, there is something about how they just work so hard.. ya the prizes are great too, but to see them come together as families and  couples has inspired me more than the individual prize winners.

SO Yes!! I did see the engaged couples one. I wish it was all d one in one night. but I look forward to wednes days show, that one guy lost 30 pounds in 2 weeks and she lost like 24... wow!!!! That is so great!!! and it makes realizing if they can do that much in that situation, how much could I lose in real life?

Linda-- I love that you do tae bo with your boys that is so cool and something they will always remember, I made my girls do sports even though they didn't want to and got them busy and they lost weight and are atheletic and love them selves so much more and are now glad that I did make them work hard.

Tiffany what a beautiful baby!!!

Brenda, I hope things work out for you and your daughter, hang in there!! and remember to turn to prayer for your answers, they will come and sometimes you will be surprised by them, but they will work as promised.

everyone else... Lets kick it up and get to exercising and post how we do on mondays with our weight exercise and eating!! I know we can meet our goals. My goal is to lose 5 pounds at least by February. I know I can do it. What are your goals???

YEA!!!

So I posted yesterday my weight and told you my goals for the beginning of Feb. I got on the scale this morning and I am now 210.5!!!! So far I have lost at least 4 pounds, more if you count all the water gain I had at that fun time of the month which took me to 220 eek!

But Ihad to tell you how exciting thatwas and to let you know that even though my goal is to get to 208 by Feb first I plan to blow past that goal and see how much I can do in the rest of January!!

So I am really motivated by the numbers now!!!! Yippee!!!

Have a great day, remember to make great choices it is up to you to take care of you!!! It is all in the choices.  Let's execise and watch how we eat and treat ourselves!!

by the way I just have to say that typing can be a real challenge when you have to kids yanking on your arms and moving all over the place on your lap like a jungle gym!! LOL!!
