Hi Brenda

Quote From: brenbiel

Hi everyone. I'm taking a bit of time to try and catch up on the past week or so.

Dawn don't you love that feeling when your clothes are just too baggy and it's time to do some shopping! Congrats -- you're doing great!

Evie how frustrating about the difficulty you're having in posting. Hope things can be corrected real soon.

Nancy have you received your Valentine package yet? I guess it's not unusual to expect delays coming all the way from England, but hopefully it won't be stolen like that other one! Sounds like you're off to a good start on RSP. I'd encourage you to continue with your "key work" as you read through the book. I think you'll find help there in learning to love yourself for the beautiful person that you are -- inside and out. Don't skip the exercises and rush through the chapters, but put real effort into working on each key, and I think you'll begin to feel beautiful in your heart again. One exercise that I try to remember to repeat from time to time is to stand in front of the mirror (scantily clad) and honestly find things to appreciate about my body. For example, even though I wish my thighs were slim, I truly appreciate that they're strong and carry me throughout the day.

Bren that's neat that you've started going to a diatician, keeping food journals etc. Let us know how your next visit goes.

Tracy not sure if I've welcomed you here yet or not. Glad to have you with us. All the best with RSP!

Jen wow, you sure sound busy -- all that painting and gardening!  Thanks for reminding me of one of the reasons I shouldn't complain about winter -- it gives us a break from gardening. LOL

Deb oh my, sure sounds like you're dd had a potentially serious head injury!  How's she doing now?  Never a dull moment, is there. By the way, how's Christian doing these days since his surgery? Hope he's getting around well.

Sheree Congratulations on that 9 lb. loss on your first week of RSP! That's amazing!!! So, are you following stage 2 now?  I must say, your gift certificate for a tatoo sure sounds to me like an original Valentines gift!  Are you sure you want that needle tapping away near your foot? Ouch!  At least you sound wise in thinking through a place that won't sag over the years. That's what I always think of when I see young women tatooed. LOL

Linda, Megan and any others I haven't mentioned by name -- hugs to you all. I think of you often and appreciate you so much!

As for me, I had a few crummy days last week, but have since had a few real good ones again. I've finished painting our dd's room, so now I want to give her floor a good cleaning before we put back all her furniture so she can be out of her brother's room by the time he and his fiancee come on Thursday. We're driving to Toronto to meet with them at the restaurant where they're hoping to hold their wedding reception to talk with the manager and make some plans. Sounds like a real "happenin' place" -- Robin Williams was apparently hanging out there a few nights last week. LOL The idea is that we would have the upper level to ourselves, but then might go to the lower lounge towards the end of the evening for a bit of dancing. I'm looking forward to having them both here for part of their reading week so that we can chat about a lot of their hopes and plans for their big day.

There -- I finally feel caught up again. Hope everyone's doing well. Bye for now.

Brenda.

I am still sticking to the rsp right now.  Well...I kind of do my own version of it.

I really do want a tattoo.  I am going to get something pretty and small.  Also if it's on my foot, it won't be hard to cover up if need be.  I have heard that the foot is one of the most painful spots.  I have also chosen for it to be on the inside right under my ankle bone, so that might be a little painful.  I think the reason I chose my foot is because all my life my feet were the only part of my body that I really liked.  I am very self conscious of the rest of my body so I don't want to draw any attention to it.

Have a good night.

Sheree

I didn't post the recipe, but I would bet you cook the chicken first.  I don't think the soup would be hot enough to cook it through.

I know exactly what you mean about losing a whole bunch one week and then nothing the next.  That's happened to me every time I do the RSP.  Your body is just playing catch up.  Great  job on the 9 lbs. by the way!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks Linda.

TOM showed up today so that might have had something to do with my weight staying the same.  I usually gain a couple at this time.  Next week there WILL be a loss!!

Hello

Quote From: vlinderby

Yes I am currently in California but haven't lived here too long actually. I live in a very small town near Madera....the next closest big city is Fresno. As for him he lives in England....so there is the 8 hour difference. Not too much longer though :)
Hello, Thanks for answering.  I love California.  England is a long distance!  I hope it won't be for much longer! :)  Take care! :) Bren

chicken Soup

Quote From: shelog

Congrats to the losers this week.  Me...I stayed the same.  I worked pretty hard though so I was a bit disappointed.  But...I did lose 9 pounds last week so that may have something to do with it.  Who knows, sometimes our bodies are mysterious and it would drive us crazy to try and figure it out.

Oh well...next week I will be down.

When you make that soup, you just put raw diced chicken in the chicken broth and cook it that way?  It sounds really good.

Talk to you all later.

Sheree

Hi Sheree -

I either use leg quarters or a whole chicken.  Boil the chicken with the broth and veggies,  then scoop it out of the broth and remove the skin and bones.  Then put it all back in the pot.

Hi Bren,

No problem. Its always nice to speak with you. California is very pretty. Im an eastcoast girl though. I was born and raised in Virginia Beach and then later moved to the New England area for a couple of years before I moved to Cali. If you dont mind me asking....where abouts do you live?

As for him being in England, yes it is very far but he is so well worth it. He is the love of my life and I have waited a long time for him to come along. He will be here next month. I simply cant wait. He will stay a month while I sell off everything and we travel california and the we are going back together to start our lives as a family. So my wedding day is another big reason why I want to look my very best. It will be a definate dream wedding.

Anyway, I hope you are doing well on your end. I am still reading my book AND I bought dr.P's cookbook. I find that if i dont eat soon enough I start to feel a bit funny in the head so I wonder if im doing something wrong.

For all the ladies in the group, I just want to say thank you. I dont think I couldve found a better group for support and friendship.

Hi, I live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma here in the middle of the country.  I taught  teenagers at a camp in Santa Cruz, CA for 2 summers in 1990 and 1991(while I was in college) and loved it.  When you say you are going back, do you mean you are going back to New England where you used to be from or do you mean you are going to England where you fiance is now?

You have a lot of motivation for wanting to lose weight--having a wedding and starting out a new life are big motivating factors.  It's great that you bought Dr. Phil's Cookbook!

I'd like to e-mail you.  If you want to e-mail me, my e-mail address is Bbren75@aol.com

Thanks! :) Bren

hmmph!!

Ok, after all my great steam and energy and gung ho ness, I have come to a stop....or at least a slow chug.  After being sick and  having no energy for so long-- a whole month, I now need to find a way to pep myself up again and get a kick in the pants, when I wasn't eating anything but just herbal tea, I put honey in it and it reveresed everything and now I am battling the call of sugar again and trying to get things under control again. And motivated to move, I put on about 5 or so pounds again. eerrggghhhh!!!!!  But I am trying to get stuff back in control and exercising back into my routine.   Soooo, I am need a little bit of momentum some how to get me going again.

I took Breanna to the doctors about her head, she still had a head ache a week later. So she couldn't get clearance to play in today's play off game so I hope they win so she can play on Saturday because she gets full clearance tomorrow.

Christian's toe is a little better but there is still talk of possibly more surgery. But until we see the doctor again in may, we continue to go to physical therapy 2 times a week.

SOOOO if any of you have some good ways to get my toosh into gear again or to give me a great huge push forward it would be great!!!!!

Well gotta run---okay for me these days it seems like a slow crawl..lol .

Don't forget american idol results are on tonight!!!!!

How are you this evening? As for me I am fine. Didnt work out today just stayed home and cleaned like a mad woman. I will be glad when the kids go back to school on Monday.

I went through Oklahoma City when I was travelling to Cali. I believe we actually stopped over there for a hotel one night. I know I bought the post card lol. Santa Cruz is actually a couple of hours from me. Its a lovely area.

As for when I leave, I am going to England with my fiance. He already has a home but we need to have an addition put on so that will be one of our many plans once we get all settled in. It should be fun doing that and him working and us planning a wedding. It is going to be an eventful time and I plan on recording as much as possible so we can enjoy are coming together for many years down the road.

I will definately email you, probably later tonight when the kids go to sleep...unless I beat them to it which sometimes I have been. Fell asleep at 7 pm three nights in a row. Tonight dinner will also be late because silly me, I forgot to turn on the oven. :( Anyway, take care and you will be getting an email from me soon.

0 Joy - From the Success Show

Well, I'm on the fly, but just wanted to pop in quickly and say hello.

Had a real mixed day yesterday. It ended off great, a beautiful evening with our son and his fiancee at the restaurant where it's looking like we'll hold their wedding reception. We sampled many things from the menu (portion control, of course) and everything was amazing, along with a very helpful, listening manager who seems like he'll be good to work with, and in a lovely setting.

The first part of the day, however, was much different. I took my 78 yr. old FIL for his colonoscopy (checking for a reason for being anaemic), and we discovered that he has cancer.  This man could write a book on his medical "adventures" through the years. Spent the first year of his life in hospital with a form of polio. His parents were told not to expect him to live beyond age 8 or 9, but he recovered with just a little weakness on one side, along with no vision or hearing on that side.  29 years ago he had cancer in his throat, from which he made a full recovery, but left him with no production of saliva and the eventual loss of his ability to swallow food safely, so after many aspiration pneumonias, and permanent damage to his lungs, he's now on total tube feedings.  27 years ago he had an unrelated cancer in the abdomen, even involving the liver. The Dr. opened and closed him and gave him a few months, not seeing any point in putting him through chemo. However, the family insisted and much to his Dr.'s amazement, he was miraculously healed. We also came within hours of losing him to a very severe double pneumonia 15 years ago, but he pulled through then too. So, all his life he's felt he's been living on borrowed time. He's at peace about it, and ready to go to his heavenly home if his time has finally come.  He'll need surgery very soon to avoid a total blockage, but won't know the extent of the involvement until then. I just hope they don't have to do a colostomy or suggest chemo again.

So, that's my news for today.  As soon as I got home from the hospital yesterday I was very aware of the urge to eat! Didn't do too badly, but I know it'll be a struggle again today (especially after getting some sugar back in my system last night, sampling a few of the desserts for the wedding) -- it was my duty, you know! LOL so please check up on me and keep me accountable.

Good to hear from many of you. Have a great day everyone.

Brenda.

Hello Everyone!

Hi everyone!  I know it has been a while.  I just wanted to check in really quick while I have a minute.  I have been reading on and off for the past couple weeks, but haven't had much time to post.  Welcome to all the newcomers!  So nice to have you!  I hope everyone is doing well.

I am in a slump.  My eating is worse now than it has probably ever been.  I have been eating cookies for breakfast, lunch and dinner - along with my meals.  I did so awesome that one week and then my one cookie turned into hundreds.  I actually ate half a package of chips ahoy cookies - why would I do that to myself?!?  I am feeling fat and bloated the past few days.  I weighed myself and I am back to 176 - so I ate more cookies to help with the pain.  I know I shouldn't be doing this, I am in the "sorry for myself" cycle.  Oh yeah for 3 weeks, I thought I was pregnant.  I am NOT!!!!  All I could do was feel sorry for my kids - I would have had two kids less than a year apart.  That was really hard on my emotionally.  I would like a fourth - but not for a couple years.  Okay - baby is getting fussy AGAIN!  I better go.  I will try to catch up little by little, but I probably won't have time to respond to all the posts.  Take Care everyone!  Keep up the great work!

Megan
