(Original Air Date: 02/23) The story of Marie, Crissy and Jen continues. These three potential adoptive mothers were scammed by Melissa, a woman who claimed to be pregnant with a child meant for them. When the baby turned out to be a fraud, they say they and several others were left with nothing but a handful of lies and a nursery full of heartache. Melissa agreed to meet Crissy face to face, but can Dr. Phil convince her to give the same satisfaction to her other two accusers? Follow what happens when Melissa succumbs to an emotional meltdown. Plus, having been badly burned in their efforts to adopt, what’s next for Marie, Crissy and Jen? Can they ever build enough trust to enter the adoption arena again? Adoptions Scams

What bothers me the most, and I did not add this to my other post. Why is it no one ever ask's about the Farher? It seems so amazing to me that Fathers are only importent when it comes to money.

Well this Woman had no feelings what-so-ever as to what she did to these people. But then again where were the proposed Fathers?

I don't see how someone can go that low and play on the emotions of these ladies. I want a child so bad I get upset when I hear other couples are pregnant, and I know it shouldn't be like that. I can't imagine that feeling of knowing that you are getting a baby and then having it taken from you.

I agree. It would just kill me.

I'll donate if thats what you need to have a family. I already have 5. I would help you.

HI I AM 32 YRS OLD AND I WATCHED AS ALL OF YOU DID AND COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT THIS WOMAN DID TO THESE WOMEN WITH NO REMORSE WHATSOEVER. WITH THAT SAID I DONT HINK SHE DESERVES ANY TYPE OF RECOGNITION. i HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO HELP SOMEONE WHO COULD NOT HAVE A BABY FULFILL THAT DREAM. UNFORTUNATELY IT HASNT HAPPENED, BUT ANYWAY I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT IT IS HORRIBLE WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THESE WOMEN, BUT TRUTH BE TOLD YOU SHOULD NEVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS WITH OUT LEGAL COUNSEL. I REALLY HOPE THAT ANYONE WANTING TO HAVE A BABY REALLY DOES THEIR HOMEWORK AND MAYBE LOOK FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME WHO WANTS TO DO IT BECAUSE FORTUNATELY FOR ME EVEN THOUGH MY MOM NEVER CARED ABOUT ME I HAD A NEIGHBOR WHO COULDNT HAVE KIDS WHO WAS LIKE A MOTHER TO ME, SINCE BEING SO POSITIVELY IMPACTED BY HER I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO HELP SOMEONE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM TO GIVE THEM THE GIFT OF A CHILD THAT SHE ALWAYS SAID I WAS TO HER. SHE PAST AWAY 5 YEARS AGO AND IT ONLY STRENGTHEND ME WANTING TO DO THIS. HER NAME WAS CHLOE.

A tale of two adoption attempts

I'm sorry I missed this show when it first aired. My heart goes out to all who have been scammed. Almost five years ago my husband and I were able to adopt a wonderful baby girl through a private adoption. Then almost two years ago we entered into an agreement to adopt another baby girl. We used an adoption advertising service. We supported a birth mother through her pregnancy, both financially and emotionally. We had to pay for attorneys both in our state and the birth mother's state. We paid for the advertising agency and a number of other fees associated with the cost of adoption. Then one week before the baby was born, unbeknownst to us, the birth mother felt that she had not had enough financial help and went to another agency to find a family who would give her more money. She never did communicate with us again. Our costs were roughly $15,000. And that wasn't the biggest hurt. It was the fact that I invested emotionally in the birth mother and the children she was already raising. Not only was my heart broken, but my husband's and also my daughter who was ready to get on a plane to go get her baby sister. It's been 16 months and we still have one beautiful daughter for which we are so grateful. We're still paying off the money we borrowed to adopt the baby we didn't get. If we are not too old when it is paid off, we may try again. Adoption laws are so loose and differ so much from state to state. Unfortunately, birth mothers can shop around to find adoptive parents that live in a state where the laws favor their needs. It is sad that this nation really is still in the business of buying and selling human beings. We need some laws that prevent this practice.

Forgiveness is Divine

Melissa:

I am praying for you and hoping that one day you will be able to forgive yourself. While I am saddened by what you did to these women and in no way believe that you didn't know what you were doing, I do believe that your are entitled to be forgiven if you are truly sorry for what was done here. If these victims ever call themselves a true "Christian", then they too should be willing to forgive you as well. By bashing you only makes for more hurt feelings and causes greater dispair. This does not make anyone feel better about what happened. There are so many lonely people in this world who just want to be loved, acknowledged and validated even if by only one other individual. It's sad to know that the internet is such an easy method to use for our own personal needs, no matter what the cost. I believe you have been a victim yourself in that you fell prey through this channel. You will not be able to fully be sorry for your actions until you forgive yourself. Please know that there are people in this world who have forgiven you and hope you will be able to forgive yourself one day. You are a child of God and He loves you dearly.

WELL I HAVE WANTED TO HAVE A BABY FOR SOMEONE AND GET MY TUBAL REVERSED IN THE PROCESS IF YOU WOULD LIKE CONTACT DR PHILL I WROTE HIM A LETTER AND I AM ACTIVELY TRYING TO FIND A COUPLE WHO WANT TO HAVE A CHILD. i AM NOT PREGNANT I WANT TO BE INSEMINATED AND GO THAT ROUTE. I HAVE WANTED TO DO THIS FOREVER AND ONLY TODAY WAS ABLE TO SAY IT OUT LOUD AND NOW I WONT SHUT UP.

I WANT TO RESPONE TO THE SHOW ON DR.PHIL, ABOUT THAT WOMAN THAT SCAM THOSE 3 WOMEN ABOUT A CHILD I FEEL THAT WAS WRONG AND HATEFUL SHE NEED TO GO TO JAIL FOR WHAT SHE DID..AND THE WOMAN MARIE NEED TO SEND HERE THEIR AND DON'T LOOK BACK I WOULDN'T THINK TWICE ABOUT SENDING HER TO JAIL..

If they had just gone to a legitimate state regulated adoption agency to begin with no one would have had to experience the emotional aguish they went through. Thousands of children, from infants to teenagers, are in the system looking for good homes, and they should have just gone that way to begin with. My neighbor had been trying to have children for over eight years before she eventually ended up adopting two sisters she had been fostoring since they were born. While her original intent was never to adopt, when she did they process took about nine months to be recognized as official. The time and paperwork is the only reason I can even imagine them not going through the process that would result in everyone being much happier.

To answer a few questions:

As one of those women on the show, my husband and I tried to adopt siblings with medical issues from foster care. We got all excited and was told the day we were to get them that the social worker decided to let a couple in her church adopt them.

I'd also like to point out that we DID have a legal professional agency AND an Attorney. Criminals can scam professionals too. Afterall she had been doing this for over 8 years and was truly a pro at it.

She is still harrassing and stalking me, along with her family members.

To let everyone know, her crimes are under a federal investigation. It's not over (although she thinks she's "scott free") and I won't stop for justice to I hear these words. Will the Defendant please rise!

The part about Melissa being a lost soul seems to have missed many of the comments on this m board. Melissa did wrong. But isn't there some part of all your hearts that speak to you about HOW did she get this way? And isn't it our job to help someone back to the right path ( as Dr Phil did) when we find someone on the journey that has obviously been on the wrong path?

I believe that what I say about it being OUR JOB as humans is the TRUTH that all religions teach. It is easy to point a finger, easy to vent anger ( and it wasn't even done to you personally) and easy to condemn and judge, name call and hate.

Isn't the Path of All Religions....especially the Path of Christ to take the higher road, the higher ground and HELP.

Otherwise we are brought low by the same evil that overtook Melissa in the first place.

I agree she should be prosecuted. I doubt the 3 women on the show will do so, however - basically they were 'bought off' by Dr. Phil when he promised them babies. I also think Dr. Phil seemed to be saying he'd help Conners avoid prosecution. I found this show very disturbing. Why on earth does Dr. Phil seem to be helping con artists like this woman - just to have a show?
