HELLO CAROL

Quote From: seajay

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS.  THAT'S JUST GREAT.  I NEED THE EXERCISE MORE THAN ANYTHING BUT FIND ALL KINDS OF EXCUSES NOT TO DO IT.  I'VE ALWAYS LIVED MY LIFE ALONE AND THAT DOESN'T HELP GET ME OUT OF THE HOUSE.

I DO HAVE DR PHILS PAPERBACK BOOK SO I WILL TRY THE FAST START.  WHEN YOU LIVE ALONE, YOU DON'T ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT FOOD ON HAND.  THAT WILL HAVE TO BE A GOAL FOR ME.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR STORY.  I JUST HOPE I HAVE HALF YOUR ENERGY.

(((HUGS BACK TO YOU)))

CAROL

I KNOW EXERCISING ALONE IS TOUGH. I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE MY SISTER TO START WITH BUT SHE HURT HER BACK AND I HAVE HAVE GONE BY MYSELF FOR OVER A YEAR. ONE THING I DID DO AT HOME AT FIRST WAS TO GET ONE OF THOSE BIG EXERCISE BALLS AT WALMART AND I USED IT FOR A CHAIR AT THE COMPUTER. JUST BALANCING ON IT STRENGTHENS YOUR CORE MUSCLES. THEN YOU START DOING THE EXERCISES THEY GIVE YOU WITH THE BALL. IT'S FUN ! I LAUGHED SO MUCH AT FIRST...I NEVER LET THAT BALL THROW ME BUT HEARD STORIES OF OTHERS WHO DID. SO BE CAREFUL. I TOOK MINE INTO THE HALL WHERE I COULD HOLD  ON UNTIL I GOT MY BALANCE.

I AGREE WITH BARBARA ABOUT DR PHILS BOOK. IT IS A WHOLE PLAN FOR A GREAT LIFESTYLE. BUT I FOUND I DID HAVE TO LEARN TO WORK THE KEYS ONE AT A TIME AND SINCE I HAD STARTED WITH EXERCISE THE REST SEEMED EASY FOR ME....OH I STILL FALL OFF THE WAGON ONCE IN AWHILE, ESPECIALLY ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS, BUT IT'S SO MUCH EASIER NOW TO JUST FORGET ABOUT THAT AND GET RIGHT BACK ON TRACK.

I HOPE YOU COME BACK HERE OFTEN.

Hi Barbara

Quote From: brcscc

Welcome to this great support board.

I see that you have the paperback book, do you also have the hard cover book, The Ultimate Weight Solution book?  For me, I found that this book should be read first before you try to do the Rapid Start program.  You need to take your time reading it from cover to cover.  Because this program is going to be a lifestyle change, not a "diet" and one of the keys that you will learn is Key #5, the food guide, but it is in the number 5 position for a reason.  You need to work on all things that relate to "why we eat" etc. before we can work on your food and exercise.

My name is Barbara, I am 51 years old, lost 40 lbs with the program and still have 100 to go.  I have trouble doing the Rapid Start because I'm a diabetic, but just following the Key #5 food guide works for me.  But the main thing is to remember "right thinking" key #1, for me it's what works the best, when your mind is in the proper thinking mode everything else will fall into place.

Hello Becky, how are you doing?  Any word on Palkit?  Did Sharon get hold of you?  I let her know you were looking for her.

Blue, great seeing you here.

Hugs to all members on the board,

ttfn Love Barbara

Thank you all for your support.

Yes, Barbara, I do have the hardback copy also.  I'm a hypoglycemic (low sugar) so I, too have to watch the sugar I eat.  I tried Atkins and was sucessful for a while but got tired of the food.  I'm sure I will be happier with a bigger variety.

Becky, I never thought about using the ball in front of my computer.  That's a good idea.  You don't have to worry about being the oldest anymore as I am 66.  I didn't want to quit work but the arthritis was getting too bad and the job wasn't fun anymore.  Now I have been laying around the house for the past eight months and that isn't good for me either!

Where are you all from?  i'm here in Thornton, Colorado where we hit 12 below zero last night.  The sun is coming out and we will be in the 40's by tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone for your support.

Hugs to all

WELL, I AM FROM SOUTH POINT OHIO. THAT'S NESTLED BETWEEN HUNTINGTON WVA AND ASHLAND KY ON THE OHIO RIVER.  SO WE ARE IN OHIO BUT HAVE SOUTHERN ACCENTS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN KY OR WVA....LOL

WE HAD A WINTER STORM LAST NIGHT BUT AS USUAL IT SPLIT AND WENT NORTH AND SOUTH OF US. RIVER EFFECT I GUESS. SO THE KIDS WERE ALL DISAPPOINTED AGAIN AS THERE WAS SCHOOL TODAY AND NO SNOW. LOL

I AM THE AID ON THE SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOOL BUS MY SISTER DRIVES. WE HAUL BEHAVIOR HANDICAP KIDS FROM AGE 21/2 TO 10 YRS. TO 2 DIFFERENT SCHOOLS. SO I WORK FROM 7:30 TO 10:00 THEN FROM 1:30 TO 4:00.  I'VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR OVER A YEAR NOW.  I BUCKLE IN THE LITTLE KIDS AND KEEP THE BIGGER ONES FROM KILLING EACH OTHER AND THE BUS DRIVER. AND TRY TO KEEP THE COLORFUL LANGUAGE TO A MINIMUM ,AND MAKE MINIMUM WAGE. BUT I'M NEEDED.

WE USED TO HAVE A LATE NIGHT CHAT ROOM AND WOULD ALL BE ON THE EXERCISE BALL. WE WOULD TAKE TURNS CALLING OUT DIFFERENT EXERCISES TO DO ON THEM. IT WAS A LOT OF FUN AND I WOULD LAUGH SO HARD SOMETIMES I WOKE MY HUBBY UP.

HOW ARE YOU DOING WITH DR PHIL? IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN HELP YOU WITH?

My Journey OMG

Well Becky you're making me think ~giggle~  I started on Jan 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and FINALLY got it on Jan 5th of 2004.  I signed up with Dr. Phils Booty Camp and followed the Rapid Start - faithfully.  I did make some substitutions to the menus as I don't eat beef or pork so I had lots of chicken and fish.  The first two weeks were hard - a lot of gas and discomfort but that passed.  I lost immediately - don't remember how much now but do know in the first 3 weeks I had lost at least 9lbs.  That is what motivated me.  Of course I exercised everyday - I've always exercised.  By April of 04 I had lost all but 6lbs of goal and hit a plateau.  I never weighed myself more than once every two weeks after the first three weeks.  The scale wasn't as important as how I felt.  I dove into the 7 Keys and didn't master all of them as it is a "life" process.  At the time I was going through some serious marital issues and to this day am not quite sure how I succeeded, but I did.  I talked, posted, talked, posted and talked some more.  A year ago I went to my daughters for Thanksgiving and Xmas and broke the plateau.  I sailed through the holidays by not allowing guilt into my life and ate a little of everything.    I've lost 42lbs and have stayed at goal for over a year.  I still exercise everyday - drink gobs of water and have an occasional "treat" - a candy bar or some ice cream.  I haven't weighed myself in months!!!!!!!!!

I had a lot of personal issues - I was an emotional eater.  In my opinion the ONLY way to succeed is to "purge" oneself of personal demons.  I went off my anitdepressants and no longer allow depression to consume me.   I stay close to friends who always listen to me and support me.  I don't think anyone can do this alone.  Isolation doesn't work.  I've weathered boards coming and going and learned along the way.  People come and go, but friends stay!!  Now I am off to Floriday this afternoon so will try to pop in from time to time.

Merry Christmas Santa and  Happy New Year to all.   Hugs  Lois
